Quick Transmigration Cannon Fodder’s Record of Counterattacks
Chapter 3641: Ghosts Everywhere (13)
“Is there a dead rat in the dorm? It stinks so bad!” one of her roommates said. She covered her nose and pulled a bottle of perfume from her trunk, then started spraying it everywhere.
However, the cloying mix of fragrance and stench was even more nauseating. The group nearly gagged.
The roommates began searching everywhere for a dead rat.
Ning Shu: …
The sensation was quite exquisite in its own way.
She felt incredibly embarrassed—more so than if she had let out a foul-smelling fart in an elevator.
Ning Shu found her parents’ contact information and dialed the number. At first, no one answered.
A wave of disappointment washed over her. It seemed this dreamscape was restricted to the school.
When she tried again, a man finally picked up. Ning Shu felt a surge of joy. Although her heart had stopped beating, she still felt the sensation of a racing pulse.
“Dad, I’m sick. I want to go home. Please come to the school and pick me up. It’s serious, very serious,” Ning Shu said to the man on the other end.
“What’s wrong? What happened?” The man’s voice sounded anxious, but there was a slight hint of artificiality to it, as if he were acting.
Ning Shu hesitated for a moment before saying, “I’m sick. I’ve been ill for a while and I’m not getting any better. I want to go home to recover. I need to go to a major hospital for a checkup to see what’s wrong with my body.”
“Alright, your mother and I will head over right now.” The man hung up, and Ning Shu listened to the dial tone.
Her three roommates were still rummaging around for a dead rat because the smell was truly putrid.
Ning Shu pulled the quilt over her head, wrapping herself tightly. She engaged in some self-deception, hoping she could just bluff her way through this.
This was a truly miserable experience.
When a person realizes they are different from everyone else, the panic and fear of being discovered—the inability to face the strange looks from others—is indescribable.
Especially when you realize you are a corpse. A dead person.
Wow, how terrifying!
Since the biological functions of this body had simply stopped, it wasn’t inherently that scary. Ning Shu just found inhabiting such a body to be a massive hassle. What if someone discovered her and had her cremated?
Would she be burned to death as a monster?
She was too exhausted to even explain.
It felt like someone was having a lot of fun playing with her, throwing one stimulus after another at her just to see how she’d react.
Well, it had certainly worked. It had stimulated her until her heart stopped.
Ning Shu’s current plan was to have her parents take her away from the school. she hoped she could leave smoothly.
Hiding in the dormitory was useless, and people would eventually notice the stench coming from her.
Wrapped in her heavy quilt, Ning Shu left the dormitory under the bewildered gazes of her roommates.
Of course, as soon as she moved, the odor that had been trapped under the covers wafted out, nearly knocking her roommates unconscious.
Wrapped in the quilt, Ning Shu ran at a clip. She left a trail of fainting people in her wake. She made her way to a flowerbed near the school gate to wait for her parents.
Naturally, she hid in a relatively secluded spot.
However, she waited and waited, but her parents never showed up. She pulled out her phone to call them, but the line wouldn’t go through no matter how many times she tried.
It seemed they weren’t coming. She couldn’t leave campus.
Ning Shu looked at the main gate. What if she just walked out? What was she worrying so much about?
She patted more powder onto her skin to hide the greenish-white patches and then sprayed half a bottle of perfume on herself.
Her biggest wish right now was to charge out of the school and escape this bizarre place. Perhaps that would break the cycle.
Ning Shu tilted her neck, preparing to head out, only to realize her neck had locked at an angle and wouldn’t move back.
She had no choice but to use her hands to force her head back into a straight position.
This was getting a bit awkward. She decided to skip the warm-up exercises. This body couldn’t handle much more stress.
If she waited until her muscles and tendons rotted away, she wouldn’t even be able to hold herself upright.
Ning Shu walked toward the gate. People were coming and going, entering and leaving campus. It all looked very real.
“Hey, where are you going? I bought some food, let’s eat together.” Song Mo approached her, carrying a plastic bag filled with disposable takeout containers. He had likely just returned from buying food outside the school.
Ning Shu pretended not to see him and tried to walk right past him. Song Mo was surprised and grabbed her arm. Ning Shu tried to pull her hand away, and then… her arm broke. It just snapped off.
The severed limb remained in Song Mo’s hand. He stared blankly at the arm, then at Ning Shu. Clearly, he’d been shocked into silence.
It was so eerie that Song Mo momentarily thought she was playing some kind of prank.
Ning Shu: …
I just want to leave the campus, dammit!
The people around them were stunned. Some girls clutched their heads and shrieked, while others were physically sickened by the stench.
“I… I… I…” Song Mo clutched her arm, not knowing what to do. Seeing that Ning Shu remained expressionless, he plucked up his courage and shoved the arm back into her embrace. “S-s-sorry! I didn’t mean to!”
Song Mo was nearly gagging from the smell of rot coming off her. He was practically on the verge of corpse-poisoning, yet he still asked, “What’s wrong with you?”
Seeing his distorted expression as he struggled not to cover his nose while being overwhelmed by the stench made Ning Shu feel a bit guilty.
She ignored him and headed for the gate. She felt like a world-class athlete approaching the finish line—excited, exhilarated, and nervous.
But the gate’s barrier suddenly slammed shut, and someone grabbed her.
Are you kidding me?
Nothing could stop her desire for freedom. Since she couldn’t leave, she swung her one good arm and threw the severed limb with all her might. The arm flew over the barrier and landed with a wet thud outside the school grounds.
However, her other arm was now useless too. She had used too much force, and it hung limp and dead at her side.
“She’s a monster!” a student nearby screamed. They began throwing their belongings at her.
Some male students even approached with brooms.
Song Mo moved to stand in front of her. “You run, I’ll hold them off!”
“Buddy, you really have way too much screen time,” Ning Shu couldn’t help but say.
“Huh?” Song Mo looked confused. He had no idea what she was talking about. Seeing her babbling nonsense at a time like this made the frantic Song Mo feel completely powerless.
Ning Shu was now an armless woman. She couldn’t keep her balance while running and face-planted into the dirt. The skin was scraped off her face, but she barely bled. Instead, the fluid produced by the decay of her tissues oozed out. The exposed flesh underneath was a sickly, pale white.
Brooms struck her, but she felt nothing. It didn’t hurt at all.
“Oh, for goodness sake.”
After one particularly loud thud, Ning Shu felt like her internal organs had shifted. She opened her eyes to find herself lying on the floor. Specifically, the dormitory floor.
She had rolled off her bed.
“Shi Mei, you’ve been a nightmare all night. You were tossing and turning and talking in your sleep. What are you doing?”
Her three roommates inquired after her as they sat up and rubbed their eyes, looking annoyed.
