Chapter 3507: Martial Aunt (24)
Chapter 3507: Martial Aunt (24)
"If you are so capable, get the jade token yourselves!" Yi Youxuan felt truly disgusted. They were useless on their own, but now that she had retrieved it, they were trying to rob her.
She would see if she actually gave it to them. Using their age to sell their seniority had no effect on her whatsoever.
The grand elder stayed silent.
He looked at this disciple, who was still wearing the sect's uniform, yet spoke with such arrogance and defiance.
The grand elder began to wonder if he had been in secluded meditation for so long that the world had changed into something unrecognizable.
"Presumptuous! How dare you speak to the grand elder that way," the sect leader shouted coldly. This person clearly had no sense of decorum. "Hand it over."
"If you have the ability, go into the hidden realm and find it yourselves. What is the point of stealing mine?" There was no logic in giving up something she had already obtained. "Since ancient times, treasures have belonged to the capable."
The grand elder laughed softly, looking very kind. "I agree with those words. So, if I take the item from your hand, does it become ours? After all, treasures belong to the capable."
"Then come and take it!" Yi Youxuan drew her Houyi Bow. She pulled the string into a full moon and aimed directly at the grand elder.
"Qi Cheng, this is your disciple. It seems she intends to make an enemy of the entire sect. What do you say to this?" The sect leader looked at Qi Cheng with displeasure. He should have been more firm earlier and forbidden Yi Youxuan from entering the hidden realm.
It was Qi Cheng who had insisted on her going.
Qi Cheng was truly caught between a rock and a hard place. Yi Youxuan looked at him while holding the bow and called out, "Master!"
Qi Cheng closed his eyes. When he opened them again, his gaze was firm. "So be it. The sect will not miss me if I leave, but I am your master alone."
By saying this, Qi Cheng was declaring his defection from Zisha Island.
The sect leader's lip twitched. First, the hidden realm's jade token was taken, and now a top-tier expert was defecting.
The sect leader was beyond furious. He had provided Qi Cheng with plenty of cultivation resources over the years, yet now the man wanted to betray the sect alongside his disciple.
"You should think this through carefully," the sect leader asked Qi Cheng one more time.
"Thank you, Sect Leader. I have thought it through very clearly," Qi Cheng said, cupping his hands.
"Master!" Yi Youxuan was deeply moved. Her heart was swelling with courage.
Seeing the look of pain on the sect leader's face, Ning Shu offered some comfort. "Since he wants to leave Zisha Island, let him go. At least he is leaving now, which proves that the sect was nothing more than a resting place in his heart. He has no real affection for it. Even if something happened to the sect in the future, he would not have stood by us. It is better that he leaves now so we do not have to worry about a knife in the back later. No matter how strong or capable he is, we do not need him."
People generally didn’t like fools, yet they’d often be moved to see someone persist in protecting what they care for. That kind of ‘fool’ was actually quite likable.
Yi Youxuan gave a derisive laugh. "That is just moral blackmail. On what grounds do you demand that my master must sacrifice himself for the sect? Whatever my master chooses to do is his decision."
"He can rot for all I care. I am not stopping him, and I never demanded he sacrifice himself for the sect," Ning Shu said, rolling her eyes.
The sect leader had been reluctant to lose such a powerful expert, but he gave up now. he cupped his hands to the grand elder. "Please, Grand Elder, you must retrieve the jade token. It is vital to our foundation."
Since they had already reached a breaking point, they might as well start the fight.
Yi Youxuan fired an arrow directly at the grand elder. It pierced through his body, but it was only an afterimage. The grand elder appeared behind Yi Youxuan and struck out with a palm.
Yi Youxuan dodged quickly and drew her sword, unleashing a powerful wave of sword-energy. It was so intense it seemed as if it might tear through space itself as it surged toward the grand elder.
The sect leader, Ning Shu, and the other elders surrounded Yi Youxuan and Qi Cheng. Now that the gloves were off, they had to go all the way and kill them.
Otherwise, they would surely return for revenge later.
In the original storyline of this world, Zisha Island had been completely wiped out and ceased to exist.
The events had unfolded much like this; treasures always seemed to find their way to Yi Youxuan wherever she went.
In that timeline, Yi Youxuan had escaped, only to return later and slaughter everyone who had ‘bullied’ her.
By the time she came back for her revenge, the original host had already gone mad. Seeing the person she had always wanted to defeat escape from the sect's massive dragnet had caused her to lose her grip on reality.
When Yi Youxuan returned, she did not kill her. It was not out of pity, but because the Jiang Xueci of that time was not even worth the effort of swinging a sword.
Because she was a lunatic—driven mad by the blow of Yi Youxuan's overwhelming strength.
Yi Youxuan had simply left her to live out her days in envious madness.
This current tribulation was a major turning point in Yi Youxuan's life. After this, her power would soar until it reached the heavens.
Ning Shu could not let this opportunity slip by. She had to keep Yi Youxuan here, even if it cost her half her life. If she won, she would kill two birds with one stone, and Zisha Island would finally be able to control the hidden realm.
Yi Youxuan looked at the people surrounding her and huffed inwardly. A sect of bandits, bullying the few with their numbers!
The grand elder's strength had ‘returned to simplicity.’1This is pretty straightforward—it just means he’s attained a high-level state in cultivation where his power no longer leaks out, making him appear like an ordinary person despite his immense strength. He did not look particularly powerful, but he avoided Yi Youxuan's attacks with effortless grace.
"Master, take this!" Yi Youxuan produced a divine artifact and said grandly, "Master, today we shall break out of Zisha Island and leave no one standing!"
Qi Cheng took the artifact from his disciple and nodded. "Very well!"
Ning Shu scoffed. Her voice rang out like a great bell. "Qi Cheng, I wish for your Dao heart to be forever ruined! I wish for you to never become an immortal! May your Dao heart be forever ruined, and may you never attain immortality!"
Her voice echoed across the island over and over, causing Qi Cheng's heart to tighten.
"Master, do not listen to her! That woman is trying to affect your Dao heart," Yi Youxuan said quickly.
"Junior Sister, you cannot affect me," Qi Cheng said while looking at Ning Shu.
Ning Shu shrugged. "I'm just cursing you for fun. Is that not allowed? How about we make a bet? I will bet my entire life's cultivation that you will never become an immortal. How about that?"
Qi Cheng's face turned dark.
Perhaps finding a bit of inspiration from Ning Shu, the sect leader also shouted with a voice like a bell, "Qi Cheng, a disciple of the 302nd generation of Zisha Island, is unjust and unrighteous! He seeks to destroy the foundation of the sect and has defected! Today, the unfilial disciple Qi Cheng is expelled from Zisha Island! Henceforth, no descendant of Qi Cheng shall ever enter this sect! The debt of his education and legacy is hereby severed!"
Since he wanted to defect, the sect leader would simply kick him out. Defecting voluntarily carried a shred of pride, but being officially expelled was a complete humiliation.
Qi Cheng's face turned a deep red. He let out a muffled groan as a trace of blood leaked from the corner of his mouth.
Ning Shu smiled. He had treated the sect like a nursemaid, only to run away once he was full.
The sect will not miss me if I leave, but I am your master alone? Heh…
