Chapter 1354: Chapter 404: [Ordinary and Unremarkable]_3

The skinny black guy named Mandy was a henchman that Chen Yan recruited after arriving here.

Being an outsider, he needed a local guide to show him the ropes.

·

Mandy being black was not surprising. In a place like the United States, the best candidates for local guides were often black folks at the bottom rung.

Mandy was particularly suitable because... he had fallen on hard times!

Although he was black, he always found himself on the periphery of black gangs.

That’s because he wasn’t a local black from the United States but a black man who had come from Africa.

Indeed, there is a severe hierarchy of disdain even among black people.

No matter how much that group of people likes to talk about racial discrimination, many black people themselves are the group that discriminates against others the most!

North American blacks are discriminated against by whites, but at the same time, they don’t hesitate to discriminate against Mexicans and Asians.

Some brothers’ stance is: I can discriminate against others, but others cannot discriminate against me.

Chen Yan, deep down, didn’t think much of these blacks.

Even among blacks of the same skin color, there’s a hierarchy.

At the very bottom of the disdain chain are the blacks who come from Africa.

Within the black community, North American native blacks are at the top.

And those migrants or illegal immigrants who have just arrived from Africa are a group that even North American blacks look down on.

In the eyes of North American blacks, these folks with the same black skin just provoke a reaction: Who do you think you are?

African immigrants struggle with English, and their behaviors and habits are very different from native North American blacks.

To North American blacks, they appear to be a bunch of hicks, bumpkins.

Many African immigrants can only take on the most basic jobs—if they can find any at all.

Many more end up being absorbed by black gangs.

But Mandy was even worse off; he couldn’t even get into a gang and was discarded as useless.

He was too frail, unable to fight, both short and skinny; he was just someone to get pushed around.

He floated through several groups and was eventually kicked out of all of them, ending up living among a group of homeless people.

When Chen Yan found him, this guy was about to die.

He was truly the most useless, worthless waste in this world — people like him only wasted oxygen and food, contributing nothing but destruction to the world.

Mandy was a junkie, not refusing any drug, abusing substances to an extent that was inconceivable to a Dragon Country person like Chen Yan.

He had a vile personality and lousy character.

Part of why he was kicked out of the gangs was his incompetence, but also due to his personal defects.

He would steal drugs while delivering them for the gangs.

While working as a coachman or a pimp for the gangs, he would threaten and abuse the streetwalkers.

On one occasion, even when driving for gang members, he siphoned gas from the car to sell and buy drugs with the money.

Such a person was just human-shaped garbage.

When Chen Yan picked him up, this guy was lying in a homeless gathering spot, next to a fire barrel, shivering and on the brink of death.

It was actually a drug craving attack.

The only reason he survived was that Chen Yan asked a few of the local homeless about the black gang scene. Most answers were nonsensical.

But only this shivering black monkey spoke fluently.

So Chen Yan tossed him ten dollars, let the guy buy something to tide himself over, and after having his fix, he somewhat came back to life.

Over the next month, Mandy became a ’living map’ for Chen Yan.

With his background of dabbling in several gangs (although as an unofficial peripheral member), he truly was a local guide and know-it-all.

With this "human navigation system," Chen Yan began his operations!

Under Mandy’s guidance, Chen Yan found several small "underground drug production sites."

He observed secretly, targeting those destined to demise in life’s karmic balance, looking for opportunities to strike.

After a few operations within a month, Chen Yan’s cultivation finally returned to the middle tier of the First Realm.

And tonight, with yet another reward from the Heavenly Dao...

Chen Yan was satisfied, feeling the transformation in the concentration of primordial qi within himself.

It meant he had reached the high tier of the First Realm again.

He was still a step away from his previous pinnacle of the First Realm’s peak, but it was decent enough.

·

When Chen Yan returned to his room, he saw Mandy lying on the ground in the corner, under a filthy mat.

The brother was hugging a pipe, exhaling smoke, a dazed look in his eyes.

Chen Yan knew that during the night’s job, this guy must have swiped some of the "products."

Yet Chen Yan couldn’t be bothered with his business.

He walked over and kicked Mandy, finding him only able to groggily raise his eyelids and give a silly grin.

Chen Yan sighed, knowing there was no point in trying to talk to this guy right now.

He originally wanted to ask about some other areas, but now it seemed...

After glancing at him, it was clear that he wouldn’t be coherent until at least noon the next day.

Chen Yan shrugged, put away his guns, then went to another room, took a cold shower, and changed into clean, simple clothes.
