Chapter 489: Clash 1

The artificial moon hung high above the clearing, casting its silver light across the still forest. Nero sat cross-legged on the flat stone, his eyes closed, his breathing slow and deliberate. The warmth of the onsen had faded, replaced by the cool night air that brushed against his skin. He had rested long enough. It was time to push further.

He reached deep within himself, drawing upon the abundant prana that saturated the pocket world. The energy flowed into his cores, rich and potent, filling him with a familiar warmth. He directed it outward, channeling it through his body, and summoned his Law of Lightning. But this time, he did not wield it as a weapon. He turned it inward.

Golden sparks danced across his skin, illuminating the clearing with brief flashes of light. The lightning was not meant to strike outward—it was meant to refine, to purify, to strengthen. He focused his will, and the electricity seeped into his flesh, penetrating his muscles, his bones, his very cells.

The pain was immediate and intense. It was not the sharp sting of an external wound, but a deep, burning ache that radiated from within.

Every fiber of his being screamed in protest as the lightning coursed through him, breaking down old structures, forging new ones. His muscles tensed, his jaw clenched, but he did not stop. He could not stop.

He forced the lightning deeper, directing it into his bones. The sensation was excruciating, a grinding pressure that seemed to crack and rebuild the very foundation of his skeleton. He felt his bones shift, their density increasing, their structure becoming more resilient. They began to glow faintly, a pale, polished sheen spreading across their surfaces as the lightning refined them.

His cells were next. The lightning penetrated each one, breaking down impurities, strengthening the membranes, enhancing their capacity to store and channel prana. His muscles tightened, their fibers becoming denser, more powerful. He could feel the strength building within him, a raw, primal force that hummed beneath his skin.

The process continued for hours, the lightning never ceasing, the pain never diminishing. But Nero endured, his will unwavering, his focus absolute. He pushed through the agony, refusing to yield, refusing to stop until he had achieved his goal.

The sky began to lighten, the first hints of dawn creeping over the horizon. Nero opened his eyes, his gaze sharp, his body humming with newfound power. The lightning that had covered his form faded, leaving behind a physique that had been transformed.

His bones now gleamed like polished jade, their density and resilience far beyond what they had been before. His muscles were packed with strength, each fiber coiled with potential energy. His cells were saturated with prana, their capacity to store and channel power greatly enhanced. He could feel the difference in every fiber of his being, a tangible reminder of the effort he had invested.

He rose to his feet, his movements fluid, his body responding with a precision and speed that had not been there before. He flexed his fingers, feeling the strength that now resided in his limbs. He had pushed his physique to the peak of the Purple Knight level, refining every aspect of his being, just a little bit he would have the absolute physical strength of a Zodiac, a Black rank knight.

The pocket world was still, the forest quiet. Nero stood alone in the clearing, his body a testament to his determination. He had endured the pain, pushed through the limits, and emerged stronger.

°°°

The first light of dawn crept through the canopy, painting the forest in hues of amber and gold. Nero stirred in his tent, his eyes opening to the soft glow filtering through the canvas. He had slept deeply, his body fully recovered from the night’s refinement. The ache in his muscles had faded, replaced by a sense of vitality that hummed through his veins. He rose, stretched, and stepped out into the morning air.

The pocket world was awake. Birds sang in the distance, their calls echoing through the trees. The artificial moon had set, and the sky was clear, a pale blue that promised a day of warmth and battle. Nero moved through his morning routine with practiced ease. He performed a series of stretches, loosening his muscles, preparing his body for the challenges ahead. He ate a simple breakfast—dried meat, bread, and water—then took a bath in the stream that ran near his camp. The water was cool, invigorating, washing away the remnants of sleep.

He dressed in his black adventure gear, the fabric fitting snugly against his enhanced physique. He could feel the strength in his limbs, the refined power that now resided in his bones and muscles. He was eager to test it.

He began to move, not running, but gliding. He summoned his Law of Water, and a thin layer of ice formed beneath his feet. He pushed off, and the ice carried him forward, smooth and silent. He moved through the forest like a ghost, his speed increasing with each passing moment. The trees blurred past him, the ground a streak of green and brown. He was testing his control, his connection to the water, his ability to move with fluid grace.

The forest soon gave way to rocky terrain, the trees thinning, the ground rising into gentle hills. He slowed, his senses alert, his presence detection spreading outward. He could feel the monsters in the area, their prana signatures faint but recognizable. And then he felt it—a powerful presence, dense and volatile, radiating a cold, predatory hunger.

He changed course, gliding toward the source. The terrain grew more rugged, the rocks jagged, the ground uneven. He came to a stop at the edge of a wide clearing, his ice dissolving beneath his feet. In the center of the clearing stood a massive bear. It was easily twice the size of a normal bear, its body covered in shaggy, matted fur. One of its eyes was missing, a long scar running down the side of its face. Its remaining eye burned with a maddened fury, and its claws were long, sharp, gleaming like obsidian blades. The air around it shimmered with the power of the Law of Wind.

The bear turned its head, its gaze locking onto Nero. It let out a roar that shook the ground, a sound of pure, unrestrained rage. It charged, its massive body moving with surprising speed, its claws extended.

Nero did not draw upon his laws. He did not summon fire or lightning or ice. He simply drew his sword and met the bear head-on.

The first clash was explosive. The bear’s claws met Nero’s blade, and the impact sent shockwaves through the clearing. Nero was pushed back, his boots skidding across the rocky ground, but he held his ground. He could feel the strength of the bear, the raw power in its limbs. It was a formidable opponent, a true test of his enhanced physique.

He smiled.

He moved forward, his sword a blur of motion. He struck high, low, left, right, each blow precise, each movement fluid. The bear retaliated with savage fury, its claws slashing through the air, its roars echoing across the landscape. But Nero was faster, more agile, his enhanced body responding with a speed and precision that surprised even him.

He did not use his laws. He relied solely on his physical strength, his swordsmanship, his instincts. He dodged the bear’s attacks, his body flowing around them like water. He countered with strikes that bit deep into its hide, drawing blood. The bear roared, its fury intensifying, but it could not land a blow.

Nero was toying with it.

He studied its movements, its patterns. The bear favored its right side, its attacks predictable. It had a rhythm, a moment of hesitation between strikes. Nero exploited these weaknesses, his sword finding its mark again and again.

The bear grew desperate. It summoned a blast of wind, a swirling vortex that tore through the clearing. Nero was pushed back, his boots scraping against the ground, but he held his ground. He waited for the wind to subside, then he moved.

He appeared before the bear, his sword already in motion. The blade traced a perfect arc, and the bear’s head separated from its body. It fell, its body crashing to the ground, its roars silenced.

Nero stood over the fallen beast, his sword dripping with blood. He was not even winded. His enhanced physique had proven its worth. He had toyed with the creature, tested his limits, and emerged victorious.

He sheathed his sword and turned away, his expression calm, his steps unhurried. Something was closing in he could feel it, he smiled without knowing.
