Chapter 1679: The Ruthless Bandit Unleashed
Chapter 1679: The Ruthless Bandit Unleashed
The more attacks Zeraphine rained down on Mercy, the more the frustration and anger she had held back all these years poured out. Indeed, while she was in the Flame Sea, not a single day went by without her thinking of her friend, her sister.
She had always thought of her, imagining the day they would meet again.
However, when they finally met, her true nature was revealed, and Zeraphine realized that the one she had called a sister for years was actually the devil herself.
Fast forward to after she was rescued by Uncle Drew and brought to the Underworld, Zerpahine finally learned what had happened to her parents from Nyx, whose underworld-queen powers allowed her to see the dead’s memories.
It turned out that when Zeraphine awakened her spirit root, it was actually a Supreme-grade spirit root that had been mistaken for a Diamond-grade one. Somehow, Lord Crayon discovered the truth, and so he plotted the assassination of Zeraphine’s entire family.
Then, after succeeding, he swooped in and took Zeraphine in, hoping to raise her until she was old enough for him to harvest her spirit root for his daughter.
What he never expected was that, aside from her spirit root, Zeraphine would also awaken her Soul Flame and an innate talent that partially awakened her bloodline.
This discovery was what prolonged Zeraphine’s life throughout the years she lived with them.
They wanted her to grow into the impressive young lady she was destined to become before taking everything from her.
Unfortunately for them, she was pulled into a void vortex while out adventuring, and for years, she was stuck in the flame sea.
After years without seeing her, they speculated that she might have learned what happened to her family and run away.
If that was the case, they had to find a way to draw her back into their sight. That was when they chose to use the bond she shared with Mercy.
Word spread that Lady Mercy was in trouble. When Zeraphine returned to the Immortal Realm and heard this, she rushed back, only to find the people she had called family pointing their weapons at her.
The betrayal cut too deep, and so now that she had the chance to exact her revenge on the one whose betrayal had wounded her the most, she held nothing back.
Meanwhile, on the side, Kent had only counted to eight when a demigod with flowing white hair and a long beard stepped out of a void portal.
Following him were eight other demigods, proving that Zeraphine had been right; they had about a dozen demigods. With his eyes, Kent immediately knew that the man was the bastard he was waiting for.
He raised a finger and snapped, deactivating the [Evil King’s Judgment] and [Domain of Evil] skills he had activated. When the mist cleared, and the details of what had transpired within were revealed, many took a step back.
Only one demigod remained barely alive.
The rest had been cut into several pieces, heads and body parts scarred all over. Nobody knew what had happened inside the mist, but now that they had seen the aftermath, they wished they had never had.
The demigod who survived looked terrified when his gaze met Kent’s.
The bastard merely smiled and waved his hand dismissively.
"You are free to go."
The demigod vanished from sight, running as though his life depended on it.
Well, his life did depend on it.
After all, what he had witnessed was the wake-up call he needed to realize that the life he was living was not the right one for him.
After he was gone, Kent turned toward the white-haired old man.
"I am going to offer you a chance at redemption.
"First, get down on your knees and confess that you were the one behind the murder of Zeraphine’s parents. Then apologize to her.
"Second, get on the ground and crawl through the city gate, and I might consider taking only one of your hands.
"Third, judging by how little you care about the fact that your daughter is getting thrashed, I know you’re a cold-hearted bastard just like me. So how about you call me Big Brother Kent, and I’ll let you live. After all, death is inevitable, no matter how tragic it may be."
"How about a fourth option where you crawl over here and kiss my feet?" the old man said with a sneer.
The moment Lord Crayon spoke, thousands of portals opened across the sky, and thousands of immortal warriors stepped through them.
"You may be Kent Madson, but don’t think your status will save you from me today."
Kent watched as thousands of immortals began to surround him. Soon, he was completely encircled, and some of them even moved toward Zeraphine.
"So you choose death, huh? That’s exactly what I’d expect from a blockhead like you."
Kent smirked.
Then his cloak-like armor shifted. Black cloak mixed with leather spread across his body, forming a sinister suit of armor. Behind him, thirteen tendrils extended outward like dark cloaks swaying in the wind.
His [Evil Armor] fully covered his body, and with it, his Evil Core surged with power.
"I hope all of you can bear witness to this. I offered your master a chance at redemption, but he rejected it. Now, allow me to take out the trash."
The moment he finished speaking, Kent moved.
What followed was a bloodbath beyond anything anyone had imagined.
Every swing of his sword sent heads flying through the air. Every movement of his body caused the thirteen tendrils behind him to lash out like living serpents, piercing the heads of immortals with terrifying precision.
On the other side of the battlefield, the immortals and the two demigods pursuing Zeraphine were suddenly forced to halt.
Shadowy figures emerged from the darkness.
One after another, they solidified into existence before them.
Kent had summoned Shadow Fiends to protect Zeraphine.
Not that he was worried about her safety. Zeraphine was more than capable of protecting herself.
Rather, he wanted her to take her time and enjoy her revenge.
As the battle continued, it quickly became obvious who was winning and who was losing.
In fact, many immortals began to flee once Kent’s slaughter reached an unprecedented level.
Unfortunately for them, they never got far.
Shadow Fiends emerged from every direction, cutting off all paths of escape.
With Kent’s legion constantly clearing dungeons, their kills continued to clear more requirements, allowing him to unlock even more Shadow Fiends.
As a result, despite deploying countless fiends across different worlds he planned to visit, he still had more than enough to spare.
"There is no need to run. I already gave your master a chance to redeem himself, and he rejected it. Now, you have only yourselves to blame for following a blind master."
Less than an hour later, the skies above Crayon City had turned crimson.
Panic spread throughout the city.
Everyone was terrified.
By then, Zeraphine had already completed her revenge.
Yet, to everyone’s surprise, she did not kill Mercy.
In truth, death would have been a kinder fate.
Instead, she crippled Mercy’s cultivation, destroying everything she had spent her life building.
But while Zeraphine had shown mercy to her greatest enemy, Kent, who had completely lost himself in the slaughter, he spared no one.
Hours later, only a single person remained alive.
Lord Crayon.
Many hoped Kent would toy with him for a while before ending his life.
Instead, Kent’s sword suddenly moved with a sharp and precise arc.
Lord Crayon’s head separated from his body and flew into the air.
The battle ended instantly.
The moment Lord Crayon died, Kent returned to his true form.
His dragon horns reappeared, and his long purple hair flowed behind him once more.
The terrifying aura of evil surrounding him vanished completely.
Only then did everyone realize that the suffocating coldness weighing upon their hearts had disappeared.
Kent calmly walked back to his Bone Throne and sat down.
"When they ask what happened here today, tell them this..."
His gaze swept across the trembling crowd.
"Kent Madson never forgets a promise of revenge."
The next moment, he and Zeraphine vanished from sight and reappeared directly inside the Dungeon Tower.
Meanwhile, back in Crayon City, chaos erupted.
With Lord Crayon dead and the Crayon Great Family destroyed, countless people rushed toward the family’s estates, vaults, and treasure houses.
Since the owners were now dead, everyone wanted a piece of the enormous wealth the family had accumulated over countless years.
