Chapter 1457 Leaving the Forest
Chapter 1457 Leaving the Forest
With the Eastern Queen and her co-conspirator dead, Kent has no reason to stay in the forest any longer. He had made it so that regardless of what excuse Randel raises, it will amount to nothing.
He had helped her upgrade her Spirit Root to God-grade and even left her with treasures to aid her in body tempering and soul cultivation.
Aside from that, he had taken care of her biggest rivals, so he had no reason to even consider staying another minute inside the forest when he could be on his way toward human civilization.
“I have already done my part. Now is your time to uphold your end of the deal.”
“Of course. I will take you to the edge of the forest as I promised. Since you have no plans on staying for long, we can leave now.”
Thus, they left and headed deeper into the forest. It took them a couple of hours, but they finally arrived at the edge of the forest, where Kent could finally be on his way.
“Contact me with the communication crystal I gave you if something happens,” Kent said, and she nodded.
“Until next time, then.”
He left, and after standing there for a few minutes, Randel also turned and retreated back into the forest. She is now safe from those who wish to oppress her, so she has time to focus on her cultivation.
As for the domain of the Eastern Queen, it would be a while before anyone realised she was gone. By then, she would become strong enough to lay claim to it.
Kent had done her a solid favour, one that she never expected to happen.
So as she retreated further back into the forest, she couldn’t help feeling both happy and expectant of what would happen later when she could finally stand and beat her chest, claiming supreme authority over the entire forest.
There are many such forests where, while there are small rulers like kings and queens, there is a central authority-mostly a god who acts as an Emperor or Empress.
The reason why she wants to become an Empress is simple: if she becomes the Empress of the forest, her divinity will be powered by the beasts under her command.
Maybe that was what the Pseudo-Demigod was after, but ended up dead instead.
She will have an entire forest to rule. That kind of power would be something she could harness to do all kinds of things.
So she is looking forward to what the future holds.
Kent, on the other hand, also quickly moved further away from the forest. Randel said it would take her a day, maybe two, to reach the main road leading from the forest.
From there, if he were to walk, it would take him a week to reach Snow City, while flying would take him a maximum of three days.
Kent was in a rush, but not that much in a rush since he wanted to wait for Bello to wake up first. Even so, with his flame veins boosting his speed, he was moving much faster than a normal person.
A day later, he appeared on the main road.
Luckily for him, a few hours after he appeared on the main road, a carriage coming from somewhere entered his soul map range.
Kent quickly scanned them and found out it was a carrier carriage carrying goods from somewhere to the city. It had five guards and one driver, everyone below the True Immortal stage.
Although he could hide from them, he decided to wait for them to catch up to him. There is no danger in meeting some people when he had just arrived in such a place.
The forest was a great experience, but if possible, he would love to have more relationships with humans.
This is because he needed information on Inaya, and what better way to get
this information than by interacting with people more?
So as expected, when the carriage caught up, they slowed down.
“What is your name, kid?” one of the guards asked, using Kent’s cultivation base to determine his age.
“Jaqen, Sir,”
“Jaqen, can’t say I have heard that name before.”
“It is not a common name.”
“Indeed. Why are you walking all alone? These roads are so dangerous that someone like you shouldn’t be here alone,” yet again, using Kent’s Tier 19 cultivation, he came to the conclusion that he was weak.
Of course, Kent played the weak kid since he wanted to gain their favour.
“I was travelling with a merchant caravan, but they abandoned me when I had no money left to pay for the rest of the journey. I have been walking since.”
“That is sad. Mind riding with us?”
Thus, Kent got a ride that, judging by how fast they were moving, would take them less than three days to get to their destination.
“Have you been to Snow City before?” When inside the carriage, another guard by the name of Li asked.
“No. This is my first time. I have an ice affinity, and since my family is all flame users, they abandoned me, so I decided to come here and try my luck. Maybe one day I will also become an Immortal.”
The five guards and the driver nodded. Kent could see they were good people, considering that since he had climbed in, none showed any sign of disdain toward him.
They all seemed to genuinely like him. Maybe it was because he looked innocent and handsome. In the past, whenever Jest travelled, he always met
three groups of people.
The first group consisted of evil men who just wanted to attack him for his money and treasures. He had dealt with thousands of them and knew how to
tell them apart.
The second group was the jealous ones. These people just got jealous of his good looks. Even when he was a skinny slave, he had the looks and smile that melted almost every heart. So they mostly become jealous of him because they can’t have his looks.
The last group was, of course, those who saw him as an innocent flower that must be protected. Most of the people in this group were women. However, he met men, too, just like how this group of six seemed chummy with him.
Of course, he could be mistaken, considering he gave the classic sob story about being abandoned by both his family and the merchant team he was
traveling with.
It had been billions of years, but that sob story still worked.
So seeing them try to make him feel comfortable made him feel like he hadn’t changed that much. At heart, he was still Jest.
Their conversation only kept going on for hours. Even when night came, aside from raising their guard to prepare for anything, they kept riding. Kent was also using the Soul Map to scan their surroundings just in case they missed something. Thankfully, as the second day was coming to an end, Snow City appeared in the distance.
It was as its name suggested. The city was built from ice, and snow kept raining down on it. The closer they moved toward the city gate, the more mesmerizing
it became.
Jest had been here before, but compared to how it looked then and now, the difference was very vast. Even from several thousand miles back, he could feel the cold. Thankfully, with his ice resistance, he wouldn’t face any danger. ‘Finally, after being away for who knows how long, I am back in this place!
