Chapter 1388 The Eighth Floor - Greed King (4)

Chapter 1388  The Eighth Floor – Greed King (4)

[Zaila’s POV]

Just like how there are sword realms for swordsmen, mind cultivators also have a mental realm where, on a certain level, they can challenge each other to see who has the strongest mind.

Depending on how strong the mind is, the stronger the mental realm would also become.

Zaila went straight for a mental duel because of the advantage she had when it came to using the mental realm.

She had already awakened her mind space, and so she could easily make good use of it.

So the moment she issued the challenge, their consciousness was sent to the mind space, where both their mental realms had activated.

Behind the Greed King, a large dark skull with hollow eye sockets, burning furiously, hovered, staring dangerously at Zaila. It was clear that her interruption had made the Greed King very angry.

However, as he stared at what hovered behind Zaila, he seemed a bit apprehensive.

“I have been waiting for this moment for a very long time,” Zaila said, a smile appearing on her face. “I never had the chance to see how strong my mind had become after reaching the Heavenly Ascension stage, so you can only imagine my happiness when I found you are a mind cultivator.”

The Greed King tried to speak, but Zaila raised her finger to stop him.

“I will allow you to attack me with all you have. If you manage to kill me, fine, but when I get bored, then know your ending will come swiftly, and in the most agonizing way you can imagine.

And well, you are in my mind prison now, so unless I want you to leave, you cannot even move an inch.”

Behind Zaila, a large disc featuring hundreds of segmentations hovered, slowly spinning.

To the ordinary folk, it was merely a disc, but to someone like the Greed King, who is a mind cultivator, he knew every mind cultivator’s dream was to awaken what now hovered behind Zaila.

It is called the Mind Disc. It connects to one innate mind system, allowing them to create some of the most powerful mind attacks they can devise.

The best part is that whatever they create and put into a mind segment can later be refined and improved.

The Greed King sensed the danger because, from what he knew, filling just one mind segment is enough to make the owner a terrifying foe.

Zaila had filled three segments. This means she had created three dangerous abilities that she could use at will. So despite him being a realm higher than Zaila, he seemed to sense the danger, and as such, he hesitated to attack.

“Oh, if you are stalling for time, then know my partner will soon cut the connection between you and the elves.”

Hearing what Zaila said, the expression on the Greed King’s face changed. He formed a hand seal, and at once, one of the green sockets on the skull lit up. A beam formed and, without delay, it fired forward with deadly speed.

The attack came with a deadly intent, something that would scare anyone.

However, Zaila merely snapped her finger, and one of the mind segments on the mind disc glowed. A rune flew from it, and just before the beam could land on her body, a dark portal opened and swallowed the beam.

The Greed King’s expression turned dark in an instant.

“Guess where that went.”

Zaila pointed up, prompting the Greed King to look up as well. There, to his horror, another dark portal opened, and the beam fired at Zaila came out, aimed at his head.

He took a step back and threw his hand forward, causing the skull to move and hover between him and the beam.

The beam slammed into the skull with a deafening mental clang, ripples spreading through the mental realm like cracks across glass. The skull trembled violently, its hollow eye sockets flaring as fragments of dark energy scattered into the void-like space around them.

The Greed King narrowed his eyes, finally discarding any trace of amusement.

“So that is your trick,” he said coldly. “Spatial inversion within a mind realm. Interesting.”

Zaila smiled faintly and pointed up again. “It is much more than that, buddy.”

Just when she said that, the portal opened, and the same beam that had just landed on the skull appeared, this time with more deadly speed and intent.

“W-What…” The Greed King narrowed his eyes, the look of shock and fear appearing in them. He formed another hand seal and channelled more mental energy into the skull before the beam landed on it.

He defended against the attack, but the backlash pushed him back a few steps.

“My trick goes way beyond spatial inversion, buddy. When I was a Core Formation mind cultivator, I only had spatial inversion, but later I changed it into something else.

Now, instead of just inverting your attack, I can use it repeatedly and make it even more deadly, provided I have the energy to sustain it.

So, how about you help me see to what extent I can take this new trick of mine?”

Zaila pointed up again, and the portal formed. This time, the green beam that appeared was much darker and super fast. When it landed on the skull, a powerful shockwave followed, pushing the Greed King back.

As for the skull, a dent appeared in it.

“Again,” Zaila yet again pointed up, and an even more deadly beam appeared. When it landed on the skull, cracks began to appear.

“I know I wanted you to attack me till I get bored, but since we are here now, you might as well enjoy it.”

The Greed King spat a mouthful of blood as he formed more seals with his left hand.

On the outside, blood started seeping from the corner of his mouth. The initial amused smile on his face was nowhere to be seen. This time, he had a frown on, a clear sign that he was having a really bad day.

As for Zaila, she stood with her beautiful expression still the same. An amused smirk could even be seen tugging at the corner of her lips.

Clearly, Kent underestimated just how dangerous she was. He was worried for nothing. In fact, if she were to meet even a Life or Death stage mind cultivator, she would be fine.

Inside the mental space, the skull let out a silent scream as dark mist poured from its jaws, flooding the mental realm.

The mist twisted into clawed shapes, each one radiating corrosive greed, lunging toward Zaila from all directions.

She didn’t move.

The moment the mist crossed a certain distance, invisible walls formed around her. The clawed shapes slammed into them and shattered, dissolving into fragments of unstable intent.

“H-How is this even possible?”

He took several steps back, his expression turning even darker now. With nothing but a mental command, his perfectly crafted attack was dismantled.

Zaila smirked. “No need to be in shock, buddy. I have thousands of years of experience, so someone like you is merely an ant before my eyes.”

As if to prove it to him, Zaila pointed up, then she snapped her finger.

At once, over twenty portals opened, and from within, terrifying beams blasted out, each aimed at the poor king, who managed to use the greed in his heart to break the limit placed on him by the universe, only to meet a monster like her.

On the outside, Kent had flooded the entire island with soul essence, making sure every last Green Elf was affected by the soul universe. However, just when he was getting ready for the second phase of his plan, five shadows rose from the ground and transformed into five beings.
