Chapter 1142: How Did We Get Here
BOOM
Kaizo was sent flying 3 miles away. His body slammed into the ground, creating a thudding and bone-breaking sound. A large cut pouring out blood lines his chest.
On the ground, Vaelros lay weak and broken. He had lost one hand, while the other was broken. He could barely stand as his thick chains supported his weight.
Unity’s bow was broken. Thankfully, she was in good shape. However, without her bow, she could only take out a paintbrush and start painting arrows.
Of her sisters, only Alina, Val, Neomi, and Selene still stood. The rest had lost consciousness, with some barely holding on.
Most of them had sustained some life-threatening injuries.
As for the undead and Eternal Wrath Legion, only Kaizo, Krex, and Aetheris continued to fight—well, defend against a barrage of golden swords bombarding them.
Most of the undead had already died.
However, because they were undead, they could be summoned back as long as their master was alive. Even the Eternal Wrath Legion was akin to the undead.
As long as the dungeons remained safe inside the towers, they could respawn there. Of course, they would lose a few levels, but they would live.
The only ones in actual danger were Kent’s wives, who only had one life.
Thankfully, although Alina had no way to dismantle the killing formation bombarding them with the swords, protecting her sisters by isolating them from the formation after they passed out was possible.
Thanks to that, they were not being attacked after they passed out.
Val, Selene, and Neomi were protecting her.
However, with Val unable to summon her goddess form, they were basically waiting for death. Thankfully, Selene was capable in defense.
So for now, they were holding on.
Kaizo, who had been blasted away, rose to his feet but was sent flying again by a thick golden sword. The wound on his chest opened, and more blood started pouring out.
“How did we get here?” Kaizo screamed at the top of his voice as he looked around, seeing his team broken beyond repair.
’Master is going to be so pissed’
At this rate, if they don’t find a way to regain their connection to the tower, most of them will die.
Like Kaizo asked, how did they get where they are now?
It all started three hours ago:
After annihilating the Flame Human army, they made their way to Planet Vornix. It was the world the Succubus King came from, so they went there for revenge.
As planned, they managed to handle them since getting there was rather easy. It took them just six hours. However, after they had exacted their revenge, killing all those who came against them, they finally had nowhere else to go.
Naturally, that meant they should go back to the tower.
However, just when they were about to leave, a lone figure appeared in the air and activated a Tier 18 killing formation.
They had no idea where this person came from. He suddenly appeared, activated the formation, and then vanished.
The formation cut off their connection to Kent and the tower. And since Kent didn’t come to their rescue, it meant he hadn’t noticed anything wrong.
It had already been three hours, and Alina, despite her knowledge in formations, couldn’t come up with a counter for the Tier 18 formation that only an Array Sovereign could make.
Alina was only an Array King, so her limit was Tier 14 formations. This meant that all her tricks were ineffective against this formation, and as a result, her sisters were now in danger.
But then again, she was not in any way qualified to defend against a formation that only an Immortal could make.
This also meant the formation came from an Immortal.
However, that was just not possible.
The people on Planet Vornix were all mortals. But even if they were Immortals, the moment they appeared in a high world, they would be suppressed to the Heavenly Ascension stage.
This meant even if they had an Immortal-grade (Tier 18) formation, using it was impossible. They shouldn’t have the required spiritual energy to power it.
Yet somehow, this person was able to unleash the formation, and for three hours, it remained active.
“Alina, stop protecting me. I am an undead, so death is not something I am worried about,” Kaizo shouted as he punched away a golden sword.
Alina turned and looked at his sorry state but said nothing.
As long as Kaizo still stood, she believed there was a way.
They were losing, but the fire in Kaizo’s eyes was still burning. He was determined, and as someone designed for battle, he kept rising to his feet despite knowing it was all pointless.
Of course, if the power in the formation ran out, they would be able to escape and come for revenge later.
So whenever he is struck down, he rises to his feet, hoping the formation will lose its power.
On the outside of this killing formation, fourteen people stood in the air looking at the red killing formation. One of them held a disc-shaped artifact in his left hand, while his right hand continued to form seals.
“They are relentless; however, it will soon be over,” the formation expert said, a happy expression appearing on his face.
“Indeed. As long as we have his subordinates, he will come looking for them. That will be our chance to capture him.”
“As long as we catch him, wasting a formation disc capable of killing even a True Immortal isn’t too painful.”
The fourteen people were all Peak Heavenly Ascension stage. However, judging by their auras, one doesn’t need to know they are suppressed immortals.
They came to hunt down Kent. Words had begun spreading, claiming that he had appeared on Planet Mekyn and that his army had already started making moves.
These fourteen came from a powerful Immortal family specializing in the art of the sword. They were a swordsman family who wanted to capture Kent and force him to divulge all he knew that led to his name appearing on the Sword Dao Tablet.
They had been walking the sword path for eons, but never had even one of them appeared on the Sword Dao tablet.
So they are jealous and hungry for power.
Unlike the many sects searching for Kent to recruit him, this group of immortals wanted his knowledge, and so they came after his subordinates, planning to use them to lure him out.
However, while they expected them to fall much faster, it had already been three hours, yet some of them still stood.
“Should we attack them?” one of the fourteen asked, but the formation expert shot him a fierce look.
“Adding external power will not do us any good. It will even damage the formation, allowing them to escape.”
“No need to be overly dramatic, Lansi. I merely made a suggestion, considering it has been three hours and your fancy formation couldn’t handle a bunch of nobodies.”
Lansi, the formation expert, gritted his teeth and formed more complex hand seals, activating more mechanisms in the formation.
“Any moment from now,” he muttered.
Inside the formation, Kaizo was pierced through the chest, sending him flying back again. Selene also turned pale as more bombardment kept landing on her shield.
On the ground, protected by the shield, Unity slowly burned her divine energy to heal her injuries while painting more arrows to defend against the swords.
If she had been able to isolate the divine energy before this battle, perhaps they wouldn’t be in this situation. By now, she would have broken through the formation.
However, she had no handle over it, and thus, she was now in a sorry state.
’I am sorry, Kent… I couldn’t protect them,’ Unity said inwardly as she drew more arrows.
Suddenly, the temperature inside the killing formation dropped, freezing the hundreds of swords falling down on them.
This change caught everyone’s attention.
Then the space cracked, releasing green flames—the kind that burned both body and soul.
From the crack, a lone figure with two swords sheathed on his back walked out. The person looked at Kaizo, then at Unity. He then looked at everyone else.
“Hmm, looks like you guys need saving.”
Uncle Drew pulled out one sword but returned it to the sheath the next moment. A second later, the formation was cut in half.
