Chapter 1090: Let’s Start By Dominating

“Welcome, everyone.”

An elder from the Celestial Gate sect said, looking around at the thousands of disciples and elders gathered for the Interplanetary Sect Competition.

“As you all know, this is the interplanetary sect competition, which happens every decade. It is when we compete to see which sect ranks first and which ranks last.

As always, there will be only ten disciples from each sect, of which five are seeded. The other five will be selected through an elimination round.

There are over 200 arenas to handle all battles, so every sect should pay attention to the schedules given. The moment it is your disciple’s turn, you must send them to the arena they will be fighting in.

Once the last five disciples are selected, the battle to see who is crowned the best will begin. Remember, you cannot kill your fellow disciples… of course, accidents happen, but that is not an open invitation to slaughter each other.

Those who violate this rule will be disqualified, and the sect they represent will be disqualified from the competition.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”

Everyone was already aware of these rules, so they said nothing. However, one person raised his hand to ask a question.

Naturally, this person is Kent. “Go ahead. State your name and the sect you represent, and then ask your question.”

“I am Kent Madson from the Supreme Immortal sect, and my question is very simple. Since killing is not allowed, can we sever the legs and arms of our opponents? This is a battle, and to win, one must do what is necessary. Since we can’t kill, I want to know if mutilation is allowed.”

The expression on everyone’s face turned solemn, hearing such a chilling question asked so casually. Many started to wonder just what kind of person would ask such a question.

The elder looked at Kent for a few seconds before responding…

“As long as it doesn’t result in death, then sure, cutting an arm or leg off is allowed.”

“Wonderful,” Kent grinned, causing the disciples who saw his expression to shudder. They could tell he meant every single word he asked, and so every last disciple started praying they didn’t meet him.

“Getting under the skin of your opponents before the battle even starts, huh… what a clever child,” an elder standing with the Celestial Gate sect said. She seemed to have seen through what Kent did…

However, she was mistaken if she thought Kent was merely trying to scare the disciples. He truly wanted to know if mutilating his opponents was allowed.

After all, he planned to have fun with the Primal Beast Sect, and what better way to get that done than by removing a few arms and legs?

“If there are no other questions, then we will proceed with the opening match.” A large slab of stone appeared from the ground and flew into the air.

Then, on the surface, the matchups started to appear.

“Looks like you two will be fighting first,” Kent said to Nyss and Princess Elowen when their names showed.

Nyss was matched against a disciple from the Wyxn Light Sect, and Elowen was matched with a disciple from the Mystic Ice Sect. The two were from the 10th and 11th-ranked sects.

“Looks like it.” Nyss’s smile showed she was already looking forward to testing how much stronger she had become after absorbing all the treasures Kent gave her.

Princess Elowen was the same. Her master had spent a great deal of time teaching her the infamous ’Glass Art,’ so she wanted to see if she had what it took to handle someone of the same rank.

“Just kick their asses and show everyone the Supreme Immortal Sect is not to be trifled with.” Kent knew they were strong, so he wasn’t worried.

Soon, they left. The large stone that displayed the names became a viewing screen showing the various battles. All one had to do was focus on the battle they wanted to see, and their minds would be transported there.

Kent didn’t have to use that to see what was happening since he had the Soul Map. He opened it and linked his wives, Lady Enzi and Lady Liora, to it. In an instant, all the battles happening became bare before their eyes.

This allowed them all to watch the two battles and other battles involving the Supreme Immortal Sect simultaneously.

Nyss and her opponent sized each other up before going into a battle stance. Nyss retrieved a dagger and a short sword while her opponent held her staff in a firm grip.

The moment the battle started, Nyss’s opponent cast a blinding light spell, aiming to blind Nyss and then take advantage to use an even more powerful spell. However, Nyss saw through her plan long before she even made her move.

She had already created a counter for it and was only waiting for the battle to begin.

So the moment her opponent unleashed her attack, Nyss slid into a shadow cast by the match officiator. Then, without anyone even realizing how, she slipped into a second shadow—this time, one cast by the staff her opponent was holding.

It was game over for her the moment Nyss entered the shadow of her staff. All she did was emerge and place her dagger against her neck.

Nyss merely used the sword as a distraction. Her opponent would have expected her to go for close combat, only to be deceived.

On the other side, Princess Elowen met an arrogant opponent who thought he was superior to her, only to be knocked out with a single glass arrow.

She didn’t use her flame, yet she knocked out her opponent.

In the end, the battles ended much faster than one would expect.

The second round didn’t include Kent, but even so, he watched, and aside from one disciple of the Supreme Immortal Sect losing, the rest won.

In the third round, however, Kent was called.

His opponent was a member of the Celestial Gate Sect. He was a Sword Sage, just like Kent.

“I will give you a chance to surrender because if we were to fight, you wouldn’t last a minute against me,” the Sword Sage said, his expression filled with arrogance.

Kent smiled, and then he chuckled. Afterward, he asked, “Have you ever killed a Sword King?”

“No.”

“How about defeating one in a fair duel?”

“No.”

“Then what gave you the right to think you can defeat me? I defeated a Sword King when I was a mere Sword Grandmaster, so please try not to make this look boring.”

Kent extended his hand, and Gaap, his sword, appeared. His Blood Sword Aura and chilling Sword Intent enveloped the arena, forcing the poor arrogant bastard to his knees.

“How boring,” Kent smiled, and then, with a wave of his hand, the poor guy was sent flying.

“Too boring.” Kent walked away, watching the Sword Sage stare at him with a scared look in his eyes.

All those who saw the battle were left stunned, unsure of what to even think. The dominance was plain as day. Kent had dominated his opponent, and it was made clear by how easily he defeated him.

The rest of the battles happened soon afterward. By the end of the day, the last battle took place, and the five added to the seeded candidates were selected.

The next day, the main competition to see which sect ranks first and which ranks last began.
