Chapter 543 - 541: Was That a Dream, or Was It Real?
Chapter 543: Chapter 541: Was That a Dream, or Was It Real?
The boy spoke. "Put me down. I can walk on my own."
Seeing the standoffish child before her, Celeste Grant felt a pang in her heart. She wrapped her arms around his small body and said softly, "Silly boy, your mother would never abandon you. You’re our son. Your father and I love you more than anything. How could we ever let you go?"
The child before her was a wisp of her son’s Primordial Spirit given form. So he truly was her son. She wasn’t lying.
’But even if I told him the truth, he probably wouldn’t believe it. Besides, I can’t tell him. I’ll have to find a reasonable explanation he can accept later.’
Held by the man and woman before him, the boy realized no one had ever held him so closely in his entire life. Not even his previous parents at the General’s Mansion had ever embraced him like this. ’Is this the difference between real parents and... others?’
The boy lowered his head slightly.
Tears welled up in his eyes before he even realized it.
’Strange.’
’I’ve never cried, not once. Why do I feel like crying now? Damn it. The wind must be too strong tonight. I must have gotten sand in my eyes.’
Celeste Grant said, "Son, you’re still hurt, and this is no place to talk. Let’s find somewhere to stay first. Your father and I will explain everything then."
He gave a slight nod.
It was a sign of his consent.
And just like that...
...with Javier Sinclair carrying his son, the family of three walked out of the bamboo forest.
Seeing how tired and tense his son was, unable to relax, Javier Sinclair gently raised a hand and used a bit of magic. The boy slowly leaned against him and drifted off to sleep.
A pained look crossed Celeste Grant’s face.
"He needs a good, long rest."
The couple exchanged a glance, and in the next instant, their figures vanished from the bamboo forest.
「In Pyrewood...」
The pair materialized in a secluded spot just south of the city.
It was late, and they couldn’t be bothered to find an inn. Instead, they found an empty lot in a quieter part of the city, intending to create a temporary home.
Javier Sinclair held his son in one arm and gently raised his other hand. With a slight twitch of his fingers and a flick of his sleeve, a building rose from the empty ground before them. This was the Void Creation Skill.
In a mere instant, an elegant courtyard home materialized before them. Green vines crept up its walls, and several loquat trees stood nearby.
It was a real building.
When a Cultivator’s Cultivation reached a certain realm, creating things out of thin air became an effortless task. Celeste Grant could perform such magic as well, but she was no match for Javier Sinclair. After all, he had once created an entire Cultivation World with his own hands—a feat far beyond her current abilities.
"Let’s go inside."
Celeste Grant gave a gentle wave of her hand.
The door swung open.
Javier Sinclair glanced at her, and they entered one after the other.
Inside one of the rooms.
Javier Sinclair laid his son on the bed. He had used a spell on the boy, so he wouldn’t wake until morning.
Gazing at her son lying peacefully on the bed, Celeste Grant sat down beside him.
She reached out and took his small hand, finally getting a chance to properly look at him. This was the face of her son as a child. Seeing it again now felt wonderfully strange.
She looked him over from head to toe. His clothes were filthy and tattered. Through the rips in the fabric, she could see he was still injured. Thankfully, the wounds were only minor, but the sight of the bruises and the cuts on his leg still made her heart ache.
She gathered her Cultivation into her palm, holding it open just above his body. With a gentle sweep of her hand, a warm power flowed into him. In an instant, his injuries vanished, his body completely healed.
Her gaze fell upon his tattered clothes.
Celeste Grant murmured, "These clothes have to go." ’Such rags are completely unworthy of my beautiful boy.’
As she spoke,
she flicked a finger.
The boy’s ragged clothes vanished into thin air. ’It’s perfectly normal for him to be bare for a moment,’ she thought. ’It’s not like I haven’t seen it all before as his mother.’
She held out her hand, and a set of clothes materialized in it.
Glancing at the outfit, Celeste Grant whispered, "These were his old clothes. They should be a perfect fit."
With another gentle wave of her hand, a faint light glowed, and the clothes were neatly on her son’s body in the next moment. ’It really is nice to have magic,’ she mused. ’So much can be done with just a single thought.’
She rested her hand on the edge of the bed, her gaze fixed on her son’s sleeping face.
His breathing was even, and a faint smile touched his lips as if he were having a pleasant dream. "My boy is so beautiful. He really takes after me."
Celeste Grant leaned down and gently placed a kiss on his forehead.
A small hand caught her sleeve, gripping it tightly.
Seeing this, Celeste Grant looked at his face. His eyes were still closed, but his brow was slightly furrowed. He mumbled something very softly.
"Don’t go..."
"Mama..."
Celeste Grant’s heart melted.
’Deep down, the boy really does long for us.’
She reached out and gently stroked his hair.
"Shh... Mama’s here."
As if sensing her presence, the boy’s furrowed brow relaxed.
Looking at her son, Celeste Grant thought of his future, grown-up self. "When he eventually remembers this, he’ll probably spend half a day cursing about how pathetic he was."
Javier Sinclair spoke. "He’ll have us with him from now on. Something like this will never happen again."
Celeste Grant nodded slightly.
"Yes."
Her thoughts turned to the people of the General’s Mansion in Kelldorn.
Celeste Grant’s expression turned cold.
"Some people don’t deserve to live."
Javier Sinclair nodded slightly.
"They truly don’t."
He already understood what had happened to his son. From the moment those people found him, they had intended to use him as a substitute to die in another’s place.
If not for the Seal on his son’s Primordial Spirit, any mortal who showed him malice would have immediately suffered the consequences and met a disastrous end. After all, how could the son of the Demon God be so easily harmed?
But this wisp of his son’s Primordial Spirit had fallen into Elyndra, bound by a Seal. That was the only reason those who sought to harm him had an opportunity. Otherwise, they would all be dead, and his son would be perfectly fine.
Thinking of this, he said, "He should handle his own affairs. When he wakes, let him take his own revenge."
That night.
Javier Sinclair meditated by the bed.
Celeste Grant, meanwhile, lay on her side next to her son, keeping him company.
The night passed peacefully.
「In the blink of an eye, a new day dawned...」
When the boy awoke, it was already the next morning. He opened his eyes, his hands feeling the soft blankets.
The memories of last night surfaced in his mind.
’Was it a dream, or was it real?’
He froze for a moment, then quickly turned and sat up in bed.
