Chapter 66: He’s still Death
Noah’s POV
He took me to his own hotel room, made me eat, made me shower, made me wear his clothes and made me lie in bed before sitting in that awful chair.
I have no idea where he brought the book from, but he’s reading one, and he’s focused on it.
"I still have questions" I say in a quiet voice.
"Sleep, Noah" he orders and flips the page of his book.
His hair is pushed back as always, and I really wonder what hair product he uses on them.
His hair is impeccable, thick, and really...
Focus, Noah. Focus.
"Elias" I say with a sigh, sitting up and resting my back against the sturdy headboard.
"Please, can you give me your attention?" I ask and he looks up from the book.
"Do you think there’s a moment you don’t have my attention, Angel?" he asks and I drop my hands in my blanket covered lap.
"Then listen to me. I swear I’ll shut up after this, I just have some important questions" I say in a rush and he stares at me quietly.
The hotel is still lively and I can hear people’s conversation from outside the window, but this room feels different.
Our room feels dead and I don’t mind.
"What do you want to know?" Elias finally asks.
"When you were thirteen, you met a kid" I start and Elias’s grip on the book tightens, but that’s the only reaction I get from him.
"This kid with a cherry blossom..."
"Who told you about him?" Elias interrupts me and it’s my turn to tighten my grip on the blanket in my lap.
"Your brothers mentioned him to me, but they never give me important information."
"Like what? How you can pretend to be him?" Elias’s lips lift in a smile while his eyes remain emotionless.
"No, Elias. I’m looking to prove to you that I’m not him" I say.
My words do something to the alpha. He drops the book, tips his head back, and swallows.
"Go to sleep, Noah. You’re crossing a line" he says in a deep voice and I get on my knees to pass my message across.
I’m starting to care about him. I know he doesn’t care about me a tiny bit, but I want to clear up whatever this is.
If he wants to own me, I want him to possess me for me, not for being...a cherry blossom boy from his past.
"Go to sleep" he repeats himself, still staring at the ceiling.
"If you want to know if I’m him or not, at least ask me. Communicate with me and I’ll tell you everything I know" I insist.
"I watched you for years" he roars.
The usually calm and cold alpha is suddenly on his feet looking at me with red eyes.
"I watched you through different screens. I looked for the cherry blossom boy. I found you and I watched you" he says.
His anger triggers something in me.
Pride.
I yell back at him with the same tone he’s yelling at me.
"Then why aren’t you sure if it’s me or not? Why are you asking me to remember something I never experienced?"
"You’re different. That boy was innocent, simple, and real and you’re...you’re a stone crafted statue" he says and why he calls me Angel suddenly dawns on me.
’I will break you’ wasn’t a threat...it was promise.
"You’re a pretender who wears the face of an Angel, and I don’t understand you" he keeps yelling.
"I am not your cherry blossom boy" I grit my teeth in sheer stubbornness.
"Lay on the bed" Elias suddenly sounds calm.
"I’m not your-- mghh"
I’m slammed onto the bed. Pain shoots through my head from the push and Elias is on me with his teeth bared.
"I’m trying my best Noah" he says while holding my throat.
Can’t..breathe.
"I don’t understand what you’re doing to me, but I’m trying my best to work with you. Stop driving me up the wall" his cold turns even more calm as his hold turns harder.
My baby...
"Elias..." I wheeze, clawing at his shoulder to make him stop.
"I can kill you here and it would mean nothing. Nothing to me. Do you understand? You live because I let you" he says and tears slide down the corner of my eyes.
My baby...our baby.
"No more questions" Elias whispers and gets off me.
When he does, blood rushes back into my head with full force. I turn to my side, gasping for air and clutching my stomach.
I got too comfortable, didn’t I? I forgot who he is.
"I’m sorry" I sob, folding in on myself as he moves away from me.
He might have been sleeping in the same room with me, tending to me, and patting my back when I vomit but he’s still Elias Deus, the middle son of the Gods, the Death of the four horsemen.
Elias’s POV
My hands are shaking.
I want to rub my thumbs in circle on his neck to soothe the red mark I made, but what’s done is done.
The further I step away from him, the more the temperature of my blood drops.
I’m turning cold.
The moment his tears dropped on my hand. I snapped back to my senses. Now he’s sobbing helplessly on the bed.
How can he say he’s not my cherry blossom? I looked for him from the moment I was free from that man and his torture.
I did my research. I carried out my calculations. It took me four more years. I had limited tools but I found him.
His hair was as blonde as ever and his eyes were blue. He was the same but he different; he was at an event and he stood next to Julian’s partner. Governor Goldsmith.
When I found out that my cherry blossom boy was most likely Goldsmith’s heir, I hated him as much as I needed him.
Then I watched. I watched. And I watched some more.
He looked like he knew everything he father was doing, yet he stood there like he had no sin.
I wanted to kill him but I watched. I watched for six more years. And when his father offered him to us as a sacrifice for his own selfish freedom...I took him.
I needed to break the rock. I wanted to see if my cherry blossom boy was inside or if I made a mistake.
Elias Deus never makes mistakes, but I don’t understand this man.
"Fuck" I curse and leave the room, slamming the door behind me while he cried.
The shaking won’t stop. I need my mother. I need Damien.
"Damien" I bang on his door and he opens for me.
"Stay with Noah. He needs someone sane" I say as I push my way into his room and he grabs me by my shoulder.
"Hey, what’s wrong?" my older brother asks and I shake my head.
"I can’t think. I hurt him. I lost my head" I say and Damien keeps me standing still.
"You know you’re safe, right? You’re with us. Kai is sleeping in the next room, I’m right here, and you’re not locked up"
"Fuck, I know that" I spit out.
I fucking know that. The cherry blossoms boy was my hope. Noah can’t take that from me.
I own him.
"Good, then put yourself together. Eli, you’re our leader and we need you. Noah needs you" he says and I nod.
Noah needs me.
Breathe.
One. Two. Three.
I reach for my pocket watch to count the ticks.
"I’ll stay with Noah for the night, text me if anything. I’ll give you an hourly update, is that okay?" Damien asks and I try focusing on breathing.
"Don’t update me" I say.
"Are you sure?" Damien asks with worry and I turn my back to him.
Getting an update on Noah is only going to make everything hard for me. I need to start preparing myself to accept that he’s not my possession.
I need to start preparing myself to kill him.
