Chapter 65: Macaroni and Cheese?
Noah’s POV
My brother-in-law sits across from me, completely unaware of the mental breakdown I’m having right now.
He gets to play a video game with a straight face, while I panic about my future with a straight face.
A Goldsmith-Deus child?
No.
It can’t be real. That would be a disaster. What would everyone think of me?
I place my hands on my flat stomach but put it down before Kai can notice my action. The last thing I want happening to me is my pregnancy announcement.
What will happen to me if they know I’m pregnant? What would happen to my baby?
Elias doesn’t care about me. The alpha doesn’t even see me as human. He already calls me an ’it’ and considers me an object...how would he react to me having his baby?
My hands reach for stomach again and put them down.
Freya would know how to help...can I even tell her about the pregnancy?
"You can fart if you want" Kai says and his words burst the sentimental bubble I’m wrapped up in.
Goddess, does all the men with Deus as their last name have the same problem of emotional constipation?
"I’m not farting" I scowl at Kai and he shrugs.
"I don’t care" he says and I flop back on the bed. My lunch has grown cold, but I don’t want to eat it.
What if it has something that’s bad for my pup?
Thank you, Elias Deus.
Thank you for turning me into a crying mess, a man with potential erectile dysfunction, a confused pregnant man, and now a farting man.
I hate him so much...why hasn’t he called me yet?
I check the phone he gave me before leaving and I sigh pitifully.
"Elias thinks you’re his crush from when he was a kid" Kai says randomly says and I sit up to look at him.
Damien and I already had a similar conversation.
"But I’ve never met your brother before and I’ve never been to Gotteigen before" I say with all the frustration I’m starting to feel.
Everything is vague with these men.
"Are you sure, Noah?" Kai says, and when I don’t have an answer, he continues to talk.
"He said the meeting was during spring; he was thirteen and you had a cherry blossom" Kai says.
Seriously? A cherry blossom?
That’s like saying you saw a butterfly, and it had antennas. Growing up, I have always been associated with cherry blossoms.
"I have never been to your city" I say calmly, Kai studies me for a few seconds.
"Hmm" he says before turning his attention to his phone.
Wait...he has more details to ’his meeting’ than Damien did.
I remember having a gap in my memory from being sick once, but I never left Winslow, my dad stayed with me all through.
"Kai?" I call and he ignores me.
I guess this is why they call him famine. He gives you the information you want, and when you need more, he keeps it to himself.
"Kai" I say firmly.
"Stop bothering me and ask your husband when he’s back" he says with a long sigh.
"He doesn’t talk about anything" I groan and Kai looks at me with those unearthly blue eyes.
"Sad for you" he murmurs.
The room is quiet again, but I’m thinking of Gotteigen and not my baby. Soon, the door opens, revealing Elias.
At the sight of my captor, my heart skips a beat, and my eyes scan his body in panic. He’s standing there with blood on his knuckles.
Is he hurt? Why is there blood on him? Is he still bleeding? Am I panicking for the man that killed quarter of my city’s population?
"Time up" Elias says to his brother and Kai gets up.
"My payment?" Kai asks and Elias throws a bag at him.
"Nice" the blonde Deus says after opening the bag. Kai gives me a difficult to cypher look before leaving the room.
With Kai gone, it’s only Elias and I that are in the room.
He shuts the door behind himself, and I take my time to eye him up.
He left the room in pajamas this morning and now he’s returning in hoodie and a pair of jeans.
He makes the casual wear look expensive, but the hoodie doesn’t smell right, so I wrinkle my nose.
"You almost killed me for smelling like someone, but here you are smelling very different" I say, lying back in bed with my lips pressed together.
I feel immature for acting like this, but it’s a valid reaction to how he treated me this morning.
"Sit up" Elias says and I refuse.
"Noah" he says.
"I’m tired" I snap at him.
"I will force you" he says like it’s a normal thing to say, and I immediately sit up with my legs folded under me.
Damn it. As much as I like it, I can’t let him rough handle me anymore...at least for my pup’s sake.
"What?" I ask with annoyance, making sure that I make it clear that we still have an unfinished argument from earlier today.
"I brought you medication" he says and walks to the bed to show the bag to me.
"What for?" I ask with confusion as I peek into the bag, "oh...that’s a lot of drugs" I wrinkle my nose again.
"I bought different types" Elias says and I notice the tip of his ears turning pink.
Blushing?
"Don’t take the Reglan if you have a kidney disease" he says and pulls out another one.
"Don’t take the Phenergan if you have any respiratory issue" his usual cold and calculating voice drops into an uncertain murmur.
"Avoid this one if you have a stomach ulcer" he shoves it back in the bag.
I look at the brown paper bag then look at him again. Then at the bag.
He said I was just a rock...why is he suddenly going get drugs for me?
"Uh...thanks?" I reach out to take the bag, but he snatches it and throws it across the room.
"What the...?" I exclaim and he shoves his hands into his pockets.
"Don’t take them. We will go back home tomorrow morning, and my mother will check on you himself" Elias says.
"You could have just explained that instead of giving me a heart attack" I murmur as I turn my head away to avoid his eyes.
Why are they always so intense?
"How do you feel?" Elias asks.
"I guess I feel pretty weak, it’s hard to stand by myself, but everything else is fine" I say and he nods.
"I’ll get you dinner, what would you like?" he asks and I look at him again.
Why is being like this?
"Did you do something to Roman?" I ask and he turns around to leave the room.
"Elias" I call after him.
"Macaroni and cheese?" he asks and before I can ask my question again, he opens the door and leaves.
"I still have my lunch...goddess, what is wrong with these people?" I mutter as he shuts the door.
"Pup...I’m sorry to tell you that man is your father" I say to my flat stomach, and it rumbles.
I guess my appetite is back and it’s accompanied by a million questions that I won’t hold myself back from asking Elias.
