Elias’s POV

"ELIAS!" Noah is screaming my name while fighting against me.

He’s fucking out of his mind.

The omega bares his teeth in defense and claws at my face. I growl when he successfully scratches me with his cropped fingers. But the pain he just caused is not as important as pulling him out of his head.

"Noah" I snap at him.

My grip on him grows even harder, his fighting finally stops.

"Elias..." he says my name on my time and sags against the wall.

He’s looking at my face but I can tell he’s not seeing me. His rapid breathing keeps coming out as short gasps through his mouth, and his chest rises and falls.

"Are you fucking done?" I hiss in his face and he shakes his head.

"Snap out of it. I’m here for business, I don’t have time to babysit"

"Slaves" the word leaves his mouth like a breathless gasp.

"Yes, Noah. Slaves, is the word a foreign concept to you?" I mock.

My lips are curled into a smile while my eyes are void of emotions. I might have pampered him this morning, but the times and situation are different.

"Slaves" he repeats before he pushes me away from his body. And I let him. I let him give himself the gap he needs.

He suddenly grabs his hair, and he looks like the fine exterior he has worn for so long is breaking apart.

He’s still out of his mind and still trying to breathe through his mouth.

"Why? Elias, you scare me. All of you! Why would your family have slaves and why would you people b-brand them like animals" the omega bends over the rose bush and starts to retch.

It’s hard for me to tell if he’s just putting on a show or if he’s truly disgusted. So, I watch.

I watch him dry heave and sob.

I don’t care about him, but with the state he’s in, I don’t want to let him suffer alone. I take a step forward and rub my hand up and down his back.

"Don’t touch me...please, just don’t touch you. You have people who are slaves" he says, shaking his head and retching even harder.

He’s not going to throw up.

His stomach is empty. He didn’t eat last night, and he hasn’t eaten this morning.

"Noah" I sigh.

"Why?" he asks as he straightens up, looking up at me with red rimmed blue eyes.

Damn it.

"We call them slaves to make people stay away. Noah, they’re not really slaves" I explain and he shakes his head again.

"I don’t believe you"

"And I don’t have the time to convince you" I say simply.

His eyes search my face, they move from one of my dead eyes to the other, looking for something he might never find in them.

Pity? Affection? Care?

I don’t know how to do any of that.

I was born defect.

I was born with a heart that pumps blood but don’t feel, and the days I spent with that man made it worse.

"Will you listen?" I ask and he nods.

The nod causes more tears to spill down his face like crystal...yes, he looks like a boy who is like a crafted angel with sapphire eyes and crystals tears.

"They’re criminals" I go straight to the point.

"They’re not" he objects and I grab him by the throat, feeling the way he gulps in response.

"They are criminals, dangerous men. They were stationed in that country by a powerful trafficker"

"No..."

"You’re stuck in your own bubble, aren’t you, Noah?" I growl.

"You’re making these things up!" he dares to growl at me and I continue to tell him what he needs to know.

"They were stationed in different places to bring omegas for selling, drugging, prostitution, rape..."

"Stop"

"You asked for it! You asked and you will listen" I roar at him, falling deeper into hole I’m pulling him into.

"Organ trafficking, degradation, nude modelling..."

"Why?" Noah shouts.

"Why?" I ask.

He asks why a lot.

Did he ever ask why when his city built their first fountain off the blood of innocent omegas?

"You ask why?" I ask him again, moving my hand from his neck to the back of his head. He doesn’t make a sound when I fist his hair and make him look at me.

"No one should live that way..." Noah says.

Innocent. Clueless. Unaware.

He has no idea what his own beloved Winslow have been doing, does he?

"When we get home, ask Lucas to take you to Aria, and ask them for their past" I tell him, and his nostrils flare from the pain.

"Do you understand, Noah?" I ask.

"I think he understands enough" I hear the sound of a gun cocking and I feel the round metallic tip of a pistol being pressed into the back of my head.

"Let him go" Roman Stiles says and I sigh.

I’ll kill him right here and now.

"Elias...Elias...Elias, please" Noah says and i tilt my head to assess him.

Cold sweat is breaking from his skin and his eyes are shaking. When I held him in a chokehold, Noah didn’t beg for his life. But now he’s begging for this man.

"Noah, are you okay?" Roman asks and Noah grabs my arm, pulling it to his chest to keep my hand on his body.

"Interesting" I say quietly.

"Let him go" Roman spits out with more force than necessary, and I let go. I take my hand off Noah’s golden locks and Roman pushes me aside to him.

I watch them quietly.

Interesting...

"Are you okay, look at me, does anywhere hurt?" Roman continues to ask Noah. There’s a burning in my chest, but I don’t interrupt them, I walk back into the building.

Business can’t wait any longer.

No one stops me from going back into the mansion. And as expected; two men are dead on the floor, Damien is sitting at the head of the table with his legs on the table.

Lucas is playing dart with the family utensils and their window. And Kai is quietly munching on an apple.

"What happened to no killing?" I ask, standing in front of the dead men. There are bullet holes in their foreheads and they died mid-scream.

"I did my best" Damien says and I step over one of the dead men, returning to the chair I had been occupying.

"Where is your husband?" Kai asks.

"With Roman"

"Ouf" my younger brother says quietly.

"So, the old man knows nothing about the slaves" Damien points at Roger Stiles with his gun, and the fat man responds by shaking violently.

We know it’s the son who did it; but we like to play. We play a game called confess or be compelled.

I can’t wait to compell Roman into confessing. A bullet to his mother’s head...a stab to his father’s shoulder...anything.

"We return tomorrow and join them for breakfast. Again" I say.

Just in time, the door opens and Roman returns with Noah.

The taller man has one arm around Noah, and his eyes are fixed on me in a heated glare, while Noah’s eyes are on the floor.

Offend me...Noah, come on. I need you to offend me.

Then I can punish you with his life.
