Chapter 201: Three insane men

Elias’s POV

The tension in the room is tangible. I can stab the air and it will bleed. The only problem is that the tension is between me, myself and I.

Noah is sitting next to me with a polite expression on his face. Although he looks less scared, I don’t like how relaxed he is. He is in a room with three mentally unstable men. Taesan is aggressive, I am calculated, and Kai is violence hungry.

The ex-mafia captain is more focused on his pregnant mate than on us. It’s unprofessional and infuriating. His hand is stroking his mate’s belly while my fingers twitch in my lap.

I want to put Noah in my lap and stroke his flat belly too. Fuck Taesan. Fuck the arrogance he carries. I was the one he called upon for help; I am his god.

"Isn’t his mate so cute?" Noah whispers in my ear and I scowl at the omega with a large belly. He makes me angry. I want my own mate to be the one with the obvious belly, not this...omega.

"Speak about this business and fuck off" Taesan says in English.

"Is this how you welcome Gods into your home?" Kai growls and Taesan’s eyes flash red. "I have the patience of a rabid dog, foreigner. I don’t care what they call you outside these walls; within my wall, you are nothing but men" he says and my jaw ticks.

I want him dead now.

"Your scent...it’s getting harsh" Seoha says to Taesan in Korean, and I lean back in my seat. Kang Taesan bends and folds for his omega easily. Exposing this weakness to me will soon become his biggest regret.

"How has the business been running since you stepped down?" I ask him in Korean. I am not as fluent as Kai, but I am well-versed.

"Pleasant" Taesan snarls.

"One answer is not enough" I say and he gives me a challenging look.

"Ask the man who you placed as the new leader. I want nothing to do with the dirty business" he says.

"If we want you in business, Kang Taesan, we will get you in business. We have multiple things to use against you. Remember we are the ones who cleaned up your dirty files" Kai says and Taesan tenses.

He’s back to the aggressive side of himself, but before he can explode, his tender mate speaks up.

"Let’s not fight, please. We’re expecting our twins soon and we want no trouble" Seoha says and Noah purrs next to me. Is he serious? He’s purring at my subordinate’s mate? Does he even understand a word the man said?

"What we need from you is simple" I say angrily and Taesan tilts his head to the side. The look on his face tells me what he wants. He wants to kill me too.

Seoha is completely unaware of the expression on his mate’s face. While the omega looks like an innocent deer, his mate looks like a feral predator on the loose.

"And what is it?" he asks in a low voice.

"We want Ghost" Kai goes straight to the point, and Seoha’s eyes grow impossibly rounder. I have never seen a person look as animated as he does.

"Ghost? My older brother?" he asks and Kai nods.

"What do you want with Ghost?" Taesan asks and Kai, the one who knows how to communicate best, leans forward to explain why we need the tech-savvy criminal.

"We need someone to hack and decode a software" he says.

"The almighty Gods do not have a simple tech guy?" Taesan asks in a taunting tone and I growl. I want to kill him already. He makes me understand why mythological gods punish proud men. It’s pure irritation.

"But...my brother isn’t fit to get into the field again" Seoha interrupts softly as he speaks for his brother.

"Don’t speak for Ghost like you are close to him. We know you’re only half siblings" Kai snaps and Seoha flinches.

"Careful, foreigner" Taesan growls, tightening his grip on his mate, and I raise a brow to warn him in return.

"Hanbin was badly hurt during the last fight with our father and he’s still recovering...you people were the ones who saved him, remember? I know you understand his tender state" Seoha says and I hum.

"All I’m hearing is Ghost owes us his life" Kai says with the confidence of a man who was born to rule.

"Sannah, please don’t let them harm my brother" Seoha says as he shakes his head. The omega places his hand on his round stomach like he’s in pain, and Taesan immediately gets up.

"This meeting is dismissed. As long as my mate doesn’t accept, this will not be happening" the older alpha before walking away with his mate in his arms. I am left in the living area with my husband and my brother.

"So...we are sleeping here?" Kai asks in English. I nod in agreement.

"Mr. Taesan permitted it?" Noah asks cautiously, and when I look at him flatly, he shakes his head with understanding.

"There is something called consent and permission, you know" Noah says and I pull him closer to my side. I’ve been itching to touch him. While Taesan can lower himself to touching his mate like an obsessed fool, I chose to respect myself.

"What was the meeting about? I didn’t understand a thing, and I didn’t know you could speak Korean" Noah says, returning to his default chatty state.

"The omega’s older brother is a hacker called Ghost. And Ghost is who we need in order to access the software" I explain and Noah glares at me.

"What software are you talking about? Have you forgotten that I know absolutely nothing about this case? I even had to find out about my best friend’s disappearance all by myself" he hisses at me with anger in his tone and I draw circles on his hipbone to calm him.

He’s still mad about that.

Fuck.

I tell him everything I know. I start from when I left him at the hospital and finish with the messaging software Lucas is struggling to hack. I explain how Kang Taesan needed my family’s interference in defeating a rival and how we saved Ghost, whose real name is Hanbin, from the rival’s clutches in the process.

At every point in my storytelling, I make sure to remind my mate that I am the god that other political and criminal leaders rely on to save their territories. Taesan is only one of the many men who have submitted to my family’s help. Noah jabs me in the rib when I’m done talking and I bend forward with an ’ouff’ noise.

I can’t believe he fucking hit me.

"Don’t leave me in the dark no matter what. I’ve been treated like that all my life and it ends now" he says with authority and I nod, wrapping an arm around my stomach to soothe the pain.

"And now, I really want to sleep" he says with a yawn.

This omega...he keeps fascinating me.
