Chapter 181: Under attack
Noah’s POV
"Baby?" Elias whispers and I shake my head. I don’t know what to say or do. One minute I was smiling at myself in the mirror, the next minute, I’m feeling something warm sliding down my inner thigh.
I was bleeding.
"Elias..." my breathing gets faster as he lifts me off the floor.
"Fuck...fuck...I’ve got you, baby" he says breathlessly and I whimper at the back of my throat. I’ve never seen the alpha panic before. His arms are tense as he carries me towards the bathroom door.
I turn my head to look at the bloodstain I left on the floor. It’s bright red and fresh. The place I’m bleeding from isn’t hurting and I still don’t feel any pain that should be alarming...why am I bleeding?
Elias heads for the door and I tighten my arms around him.
"I’m naked, Elias" I say and he uses one hand to yank the sheets off the bed. If I wasn’t in a critical state, I would have laughed. I would have laughed because the sheet is more naked than I am. There are clear post-coital fluids and marks on it, a loud and clear sign of ’these two just had sex’.
I whimper and hide my face in Elias’s neck as he covers me with the sheets.
I keep my face buried as he gives out orders. "Call Siren, prepare the care room. NOW" my mate’s scent grows sour with each step he takes. It’s too harsh for my nose, but I hold on to him tighter.
"What’s happening to him?" Siren’s voice asks from down the hallway, and I lift my head to look at him. He looks like he was getting ready for bed, his hair is in a bun, and he’s dressed in a flimsy white pair of pajamas.
"I’m bleeding" I answer for Elias.
"You fell?" Siren asks with concern, coming closer to see it for himself.
"No, I didn’t fall...I’m bleeding from...here" I point to my pelvic area, and his face suddenly goes pale. "No..." he whispers, coming forward and cupping my face.
"Mom, what is happening to him?" Elias asks and Siren keeps on looking at me with pure fear in his eyes.
"No...no...no. Does anything hurt right now, Noah? Someone gets a car ready right now!" he yells the order and my bottom lip starts to tremble. If Siren is this worried, then it has to be something really bad that’s wrong with me.
I must be dying...right?
"Are you sure you didn’t fall? Did you apply pressure to your stomach? Elias, we’re taking him to the hospital right now" Siren says. The Deus Luna is asking so many questions without waiting to get an answer from me, and how pale he looks isn’t helping the situation.
Whatever is wrong with me must be terrifying.
"No, Mom. The hospital isn’t safe. Have you forgotten why we don’t use them?" Elias asks his mother through clenched teeth and the older man responds calmly.
"The hospital has the tools we need, Elias. Noah will need more tests than I can offer."
"So you know what’s wrong with him" Elias says in an accusing tone and Siren puts up a defensive expression of iciness.
"The more time you spend being cynical, the worse this might end up becoming" he says coldly and I look between the mother and son. They are both silently clashing above my head.
I don’t like it.
I hide my face in Elias’s neck again and he lets out a shuddering breath before taking me away from the hallway. I press my lips together to hold back tears. I’m so scared.
The first and last time I bled like this was when my body was going through presentation into my omega secondary gender. It had been a painful process for a sixteen-year-old. My internal organs were changing for three days to conform to being an omega.
But whatever this situation is, it’s not the same thing as what I went through back then. Right now, I don’t feel any pain, my internal organs aren’t tearing themself apart, and I don’t feel like I’m dying.
"It’s okay, Angel. I won’t let anything happen to you" Elias whispers into my hair as we get into the car. My alpha keeps his arms around me without caring about the blood, and I keep myself as pressed up to him as possible.
’Goddess...please, please, don’t let anything bad happen to me’ I pray to the moon goddess in my head.
Elias carries me into the hospital when we arrive at the place, and I keep trying to stop myself from crying. Why does this feel like the things I’ve seen in movies about miscarriage?
"We’re almost there" Elias says as he climbs the front steps. I can feel his arms trembling and I can hear the quiet grunt in his voice. He’s in pain too.
"You’re hurting" I say to him.
"You’re more important" he replies and Siren goes past us to get a nurse to attend to me. I sniffle when I notice the horde of heavily armed men with us.
Siren walks up to the front desk and pulls out a gun. "Attend to my son-in-law right now" he says while holding up the gun in a poor nurse’s face.
Oh goddess...
"Y-yes sir. Please come with me" the nurse says and leads the way to a hospital room. Elias takes me into the room and places me on the bed. When I’m settled in, I wrap the sheets tighter around myself and press my legs together.
Elias goes over to stand by the door like a grim reaper, Siren goes outside the room talking to someone, and I wait with my heart racing inside of my chest. I want this nightmare to stop soon.
Soon, the door opens and a woman with a ponytail comes into the room with a smile. "Hello, I’m doctor Giana. I will be attending to you" the friendly woman says and Elias straightens up.
"Get out" he growls.
"Elias" I say his name in surprise.
"I don’t want an alpha touching my mate" he says with that low growl while the woman’s face pales.
"She’s a doctor" I point out at her professional coat, and it only makes Elias more angry.
"She is still an alpha" he snarls as he takes a menacing step forward, and the woman looks from Elias to me with confusion.
"Sir, I’m just here to do my job" she says and Siren joins us in the room. He reads the atmosphere in seconds and turns his attention to Elias.
"Get out of the room right now, Elias" he orders and my mate glares at his mother. "My mate will not be treated by an alpha" Elias growls and Siren points at me with anger in his usually elegant tone and posture.
"Your mate is bleeding out on a hospital bed! His life might be in danger, and you’re here being...a prideful idiot?" the Luna asks and Elias looks at me before speaking. I can hear my own heart pounding in my ears.
I can feel that the bleeding has stopped, but I know I still need to get checked.
"I need this...Elias" I say softly and he nods with his jaw clenched.
"If he is not alright in twenty minutes’ time, no one will stop me from burning down this place" Elias says. He walks over to press a kiss on my head, and then he leaves the room.
"Well...that was intense" the doctor laughs awkwardly.
"How are you feeling, Noah?" she asks and I nod. She comes closer and I zone out as she examines me. When she’s done, I lay back in the bed with my sheet around my body for comfort.
It still smells like Elias.
Siren is sitting next to me but none of us are talking. The man is simply staring at me with worry on his face. At some point, he shuts his eyes briefly and I assume he’s praying to the goddess.
"Siren...what’s wrong with me?" I ask and he gives me a wobbly smile.
"The doctor will give us a more accurate answer, dear" he says and I slump in the bed. That answer makes me feel more scared. I don’t want to die...I still have a lot of things to do with Elias. I still want to have at least one pup with him.
The doctor returns and I sit up.
"We ran the test and it’s safe to say, you’re okay" she says and I sigh. "The only thing majorly wrong is that your cervix is fragile right now, and that bleeding was caused by cervical irritation during intercourse" she explains and I start to blush.
Great...the whole world knows we had sex.
"Also, you are suffering from iron-deficiency anemia" she says and I nod slowly. I know about that. I’ve always had issues with that, but my mom, or rather, my father’s wife kept my cabinet full of medications.
"I’d have to ask you to eat properly and take all the supplement prescribed because pregnancy increases iron requirement and your pup really needs it" she continues to talk but I get stuck on the word ’pup’.
"What pup?" I ask in fear.
"What do you mean what pup...he doesn’t know?" the woman looks at Siren and Siren looks at me.
"You’re pregnant Noah" he says.
Huh?
"I’m...pregnant?" I ask in disbelief. But before I can process anything or ask anything, a guard barges into the room and I wince.
I’m pregnant. I’m pregnant. I’m pregnant...
"What is the matter?" Siren asks the guard.
"The mansion is under attack by some unidentified rebels" the man says in a rush and Siren immediately gets up.
"What?" he asks and my brain stays stuck between two worlds...I’m pregnant and the Deus are under attack.
What?
