Polluted Zone Live: The Useless Guide Stole the Show!

Chapter 15: The SSS-Rank Sentinel’s Cheerleader

  • Next Chapter

In the end, Archer let Summer continue following him. But to be honest, he did not seem to need another guiding session anytime soon.

The three hours they had spent mating earlier seemed to have been more than enough to keep his pollution level within a safe range for the next few weeks.

So despite saying that she would stay because Archer might need a Guide, Summer was not actually doing much guiding at all.

Instead, she had somehow turned into a cheerleader.

Right now, she was sitting comfortably on the second floor of an abandoned building, watching Archer deal with the mutated creatures below while her rabbit ears occasionally twitched at every loud sound.

At this point, she might as well have brought some snacks.

Below her, Archer was fighting three mutated creatures that looked like a strange mix between wolves and lizards. Their long claws scraped against the road as they circled him, waiting for a chance to attack.

"Archer, kick its ass!" Summer shouted loudly, without the slightest intention of going down there to help him.

After all, he did not look like he was having any trouble. Summer had already earned more than enough credits today, so she was perfectly happy to let Archer kill the rest and farm the credits for himself.

[Damn, girly is literally only here to use Archer as content for her livestream.]

[#womeninmensfield]

[She said she was staying because Archer might need a Guide.]

[And does he look like he needs one?! Let Miss Bunny rest!]

[At least she’s supportive!]

Summer completely ignored them when she saw one of the mutated creatures suddenly jump at Archer from behind.

"Behind you!"

Archer did not even turn around. He created a small spatial portal directly in front of the creature, swallowing half of its body before another portal appeared several meters above the ground.

The creature dropped out of it.

Bang!

Archer fired before it could even understand what had happened.

Summer immediately clapped. "Nice!"

[She’s actually clapping, I’m crying T_T]

[Someone give this woman pom-poms.]

[GO ARCHER GO!!!]

[WHY AM I STARTING TO CHEER TOO?!]

The second creature charged from his left, and Archer shot it down with a single shot. The third tried to run, but a spatial portal appeared right in front of it.

The poor creature ran straight through the portal and somehow came out directly in front of Archer again.

Summer burst out laughing. "Oh, that’s just cruel."

[You say cruel. I say efficient.]

[Imagine trying to run away and getting teleported back to your killer lmao.]

[That thing probably regretted being born.]

After that, the entire thing became almost painfully one-sided.

Now that Archer no longer had to worry so much about his pollution level rising, he did not hold back when using his spatial ability and it was ridiculously efficient.

One second, he was standing in the middle of the street and the next second, he was gone. A moment later, another portal would open somewhere else, and—Bang!

Another mutated creature was dead.

It was so fast that, after a while, even the livestream cameras started having trouble keeping up with him.

[CAMERA LEFT! LEFT!]

[NO, THE OTHER LEFT!!!]

[WHERE DID HE GO?!]

[HOW IS HE MOVING FASTER THAN THE CAMERA?!]

[SSS-Rank problems.]

Once all the mutated creatures in that area had been killed, Summer finally stopped sitting around and began following Archer from building to building.

Of course, she still kept enough distance between them to stay safely out of the fighting. After all, she was there to livestream and provide moral support, not to become mutated creature food.

The deeper they went into Polluted Zone 87, the fewer mutated creatures they encountered. Eventually, they had to walk for several minutes just to find another one.

Until finally, the last mutated creature collapsed onto the ground and almost at the same time, a notification appeared in front of Summer.

[Mission Complete!]

[Polluted Zone 87 has been successfully cleared.]

Summer’s rabbit ears immediately stood up and she quickly clapped her hands before giving Archer two enthusiastic thumbs up. "We did it! Good job!"

The comment section immediately attacked her.

["WE"???]

[Girl really said "we".]

["We did it!" GIRL, YOU SAT THERE LIKE A PRINCESS.]

[Excuse you. She provided emotional support.]

[Oh, look at him! HE’S ALREADY USED TO HIS CHEERLEADER.]

[Character development lol.]

[At this rate, Archer is going to feel lonely when Summer stops yelling at him.]

[Miss Bunny provides an essential service.]

On the other side, Archer barely reacted to Summer’s cheering anymore, as if he had truly gotten used to having his own personal cheerleader following him around.

"Come down. We can go now," Archer said calmly, gesturing for Summer to come down from the third floor of the abandoned supermarket.

Summer immediately gave him another thumbs-up. "Coming!"

As she made her way down the stairs, she opened her livestream panel one last time. The moment they stepped out of the Polluted Zone, BeastNet would automatically end the livestream, so she wanted to check the final numbers before that happened.

Her eyes suddenly turned green because this was the first time she had ever seen such a huge amount of money right in front of her.

In her old life, Summer had been considered government property. Therefore, her basic needs had always been taken care of. She never had to worry about food, clothes, or having a place to sleep. But that did not mean she had freedom.

She had never had money of her own, so if she wanted something outside of what the government provided, she had to ask the person responsible for her. Even then, she could not simply say that she wanted something and expect to get it.

She had to explain why she needed it. What was it for? Why did she want it? Was it necessary? Was there a cheaper option?

Every single time she wanted to spend money, she needed a reason.

There was no such thing as walking into a store, seeing something she liked, and simply buying it because she wanted it.

That was why she had always dreamed of being able to buy something without having to explain why she wanted it.

"Ready to go?" Archer asked when Summer finally stopped in front of him.
