Pokémon: Starting From Zero as a Legendary Pokémon
Chapter 141: A Call from Cynthia
Chapter 141: Chapter 141: A Call from Cynthia
Bzzz—
Bzzz—
Just as Sora and Diantha were enjoying their conversation, his communicator began to vibrate.
He glanced at the caller ID.
The person calling was none other than Cynthia, the Champion he had met in Sinnoh.
"Uh..."
Sora looked at Diantha sitting across from him, then at Cynthia’s profile picture on the communicator.
Actually, this isn’t awkward at all.
The three of them didn’t have any special relationship beyond friendship.
Besides, Cynthia and Diantha probably knew each other already.
"Big Sis Cynthia, long time no see."
"Long time no see."
Cynthia’s voice carried her characteristic blend of elegance and confidence.
Diantha’s eyes widened in surprise.
She hadn’t expected Sora to have direct contact with the Sinnoh Champion.
Because of the communicator’s angle, Cynthia could only see Sora and was completely unaware that Diantha was sitting opposite him.
"I’ve finished investigating the situation in Kitakami."
When mentioning Kitakami, Cynthia’s tone carried a trace of amusement.
"Things have gotten rather interesting over there. The Loyal Three were driven out by the villagers."
"Oh?"
Sora couldn’t help smiling.
"How did they end up fighting each other?"
Meanwhile, Diantha quietly lowered her presence and sharpened her focus.
Every word Cynthia said could become valuable source material for Ogerpon’s future movie.
Naturally, she listened very carefully.
"Well, here’s what happened."
Cynthia proceeded to summarize everything that had occurred after Sora’s departure.
Sora had taken Ogerpon and Bloodmoon Ursaluna away.
The revived Loyal Three had been thoroughly beaten.
The villagers had been terrified.
And afterward?
Rather than reflecting on anything, they became even more afraid of the so-called ogre.
To prevent the "evil ogre" from returning, the villagers healed the Loyal Three and elevated them to the status of local idols.
The bald village administrator even boldly proposed marketing their miraculous resurrection as a tourist attraction.
His plan was to turn Kitakami into a famous destination and draw visitors from all over.
"That’s certainly ambitious."
Sora didn’t think much of the idea.
After all, the Loyal Three didn’t exactly look like Pokémon capable of cooperating with tourism campaigns.
And reality proved him right.
The Loyal Three had absolutely no interest in whatever the humans were planning.
But they were more than happy to accept offerings.
They devoured every rice cake and berry prepared for the village festival.
Then things escalated.
After tasting modern products like Poké Blocks, their standards rose dramatically.
Their demands became increasingly extravagant.
Ordinary Pokémon might have been manageable.
The Loyal Three were not.
They had been altered by Pecharunt’s Toxic Mochi.
Contentment was impossible for them.
Greed had become part of their very nature.
As their desires grew, their behavior became more and more outrageous.
Before long, they were causing chaos throughout Kitakami.
Eventually, the villagers couldn’t endure it anymore.
They hired Trainers to drive the Loyal Three back into the mountains.
The problem was that the Loyal Three weren’t actually weak.
Not weak at all.
Munkidori was around Level 55.
Fezandipiti around Level 56.
Okidogi around Level 58.
And after receiving continuous offerings from the villagers, their strength had stabilized at roughly Level 60.
For wild Pokémon, that was an extremely high level.
Average Trainers had no chance.
Even many regional tournament champions would be helpless against them.
To make matters worse, Kitakami refused to allow anyone to capture the Loyal Three.
According to the villagers, those Pokémon belonged to Kitakami.
They were local treasures.
As a result:
Strong Trainers couldn’t be bothered.
Weak Trainers couldn’t win.
Unless a Champion or Elite Four member personally intervened, the Loyal Three effectively became local tyrants.
The villagers ended up suffering under the very Pokémon they worshipped.
"In the end, I sent Flint over."
"He battled all three of them."
"After some effort, he managed to drive them out of the village."
Originally, Cynthia hadn’t wanted to get involved.
Unfortunately, Kitakami filed a complaint through the League system.
As Champion, she couldn’t simply ignore it.
Under normal circumstances, one Elite Four member would have been more than enough.
Flint’s strength far exceeded that of the Loyal Three.
But the villagers constantly hovered nearby, pointing fingers and making demands.
The entire experience left Flint thoroughly disgusted.
"Kitakami really is exactly as you described."
Cynthia sighed.
"There’s something deeply wrong with that place."
She had met unpleasant people before.
Every community had a few.
That was normal.
But an entire village filled with people like that?
That wasn’t normal at all.
"I’ve never seen anything like it."
"It feels as though some force has been influencing and guiding them from behind the scenes."
Sora couldn’t help being impressed.
Cynthia’s intuition was frighteningly sharp.
Aside from Pecharunt, was there really any other explanation?
Even Sora himself remained wary of Pecharunt.
Its danger wasn’t physical destruction.
It was its ability to subtly twist hearts and minds.
For centuries, Kitakami had existed under the influence of Pecharunt’s power.
Most of its residents had long since been corrupted.
Only rare exceptions like Old Man Yukito had escaped.
Sora suspected the mask-maker’s descendants possessed some unique power that protected them from Pecharunt’s influence.
"Flint interacted directly with the Loyal Three."
"He told me they felt fundamentally wrong."
As an Elite Four Trainer, Flint possessed exceptional instincts.
During battle, he sensed a strange power emanating from them.
That power gradually affected his emotions.
It made him more irritable.
More arrogant.
More reckless.
When he finally noticed what was happening, it genuinely startled him.
"I’ve never encountered Pokémon this sinister before."
There were certainly dangerous Pokémon in the world.
But danger usually stemmed from instinct or nature.
Like venomous snakes or poisonous insects.
That wasn’t evil.
The Loyal Three were different.
Okidogi embodied rage, violence, and mindless destruction.
Munkidori embodied deceit, selfishness, and manipulation.
Fezandipiti embodied vanity, arrogance, and corrupting luxury.
"They feel less like Pokémon..."
"And more like incarnations of humanity’s negative emotions."
Even Cynthia was surprised.
She had never expected such Pokémon to exist within Sinnoh itself.
In terms of concept alone, the Loyal Three absolutely qualified as Legendary Pokémon.
Regardless of their actual combat strength, their ability to distort thoughts and emotions was genuinely dangerous.
