Pokémon: Starting From Zero as a Legendary Pokémon
Chapter 140: Making a Movie for Ogerpon
Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Making a Movie for Ogerpon
It had been mentioned before that Galar was based on the British Isles.
As for British cuisine...
Well, those who know, know.
And compared to Kalos’s French-inspired cuisine, the gap was even more obvious.
"Still, over the past few years, Chairman Rose’s reforms have allowed Galar to develop rapidly."
Diantha explained,
"It’s gradually becoming the international center of Pokémon battling."
Chairman Rose was someone Sora had heard of before.
He was the man who had integrated Dynamax into Galar’s battle system, bringing a tremendous shock to Pokémon battle enthusiasts around the world.
As a result, Trainers and spectators from every region had flocked to Galar, bringing immense resources and prosperity with them.
"Miss Diantha is heading to Galar as well?"
"Yes."
Diantha nodded.
"I have a film project there. It’ll probably take one or two months to complete."
"What a coincidence."
Sora smiled.
"I’ll be traveling around Galar for a little over a month myself."
He hadn’t expected such a development.
Judging from Diantha’s itinerary, there would likely be many opportunities for them to meet again.
Film shoots required location scouting, and several of the cities she planned to visit were also on Sora’s route.
Even their schedules lined up surprisingly well.
"We really are quite fated, Miss Diantha."
"You can just call me Diantha."
Diantha was roughly the same age as Sora.
She was eighteen this year—older than Sora, but younger than Cynthia.
After discussing their upcoming travels, it was Diantha’s turn to ask questions.
What interested her most were the stories of Magearna and Ogerpon.
How had Sora met them?
What kind of experiences had they shared?
As an actress, Diantha was genuinely fascinated by stories like these.
"It’s not exactly a secret."
Both girls had already become part of Sora’s family.
There was no harm in sharing their stories.
Besides, Sora suddenly thought of Ogerpon’s history with Kitakami.
If he could gain Diantha’s support, delivering a proper counterattack against Kitakami’s false narrative would become much easier.
"Let’s start with how Ogerpon and I first met."
For the next while, Sora recounted his journey.
He spoke of Kitakami’s legends.
He spoke of Ogerpon’s tragic past.
The story left Diantha furious and deeply sympathetic.
"What a poor child."
Though still young herself, Diantha possessed a surprisingly maternal temperament.
Like a caring older sister, she pulled Ogerpon into her embrace and gently comforted her.
"Those awful villagers were absolutely terrible!"
Then, suddenly, Diantha looked up.
"Mr. Sora!"
"Please allow me to help this child."
Through the story, Diantha had clearly sensed Sora’s dissatisfaction.
And she shared it completely.
"I want to purchase the rights to this story."
Yes.
Diantha’s idea was remarkably straightforward.
She wanted to make a movie about Ogerpon.
There would be no need to mention Kitakami directly.
They could simply omit the location altogether.
The focus would remain entirely on Ogerpon.
A lonely Pokémon who arrived in an unfamiliar land alongside the man she viewed as a father.
Rejected because she looked different from everyone else.
Then came the mask maker, who crafted masks for them out of kindness.
Only for those masks to attract the greed of evil Pokémon.
The Loyal Three?
Please.
In Diantha’s version, they would be exactly what they were:
Three villains.
She intended to portray Ogerpon as the victim.
The Loyal Three—and the mastermind behind everything, Pecharunt—would become thieves who stole another’s treasures.
The villagers wouldn’t escape criticism either.
Their persecution of Ogerpon for over a century couldn’t simply be ignored.
"We don’t even need to mention where the story takes place."
"Kitakami doesn’t need to be named at all."
In the film, there would simply be:
Three evil Pokémon.
Ignorant villagers.
And an innocent Ogerpon who suffered because of them.
Then, centuries later, a Trainer would arrive in that remote village and encounter a mysterious Pokémon longing for companionship.
"Honestly, that sounds pretty good."
Sora wasn’t saying the plot itself was particularly groundbreaking.
Compared to classic films from Earth, most Pokémon-world movies weren’t especially remarkable.
But that wasn’t the important part.
The important part was this:
Diantha was willing to publicly stand behind Ogerpon.
With her influence and popularity—
Forget the world.
How many people even knew about Kitakami’s "Loyal Three" legend outside Sinnoh?
Once Diantha’s movie released, audiences worldwide would know:
Ogerpon was the victim.
The Loyal Three were villains.
And first impressions mattered.
Even if Kitakami later came forward claiming:
"The Loyal Three were heroes!"
"Ogerpon was the monster!"
Who would believe them?
On one side stood Diantha.
On the other stood a handful of villagers from some obscure mountain region.
The difference in credibility was obvious.
"Still... wouldn’t this be too much trouble for you?"
"Not at all!"
Diantha immediately shook her head.
"After hearing this child’s story, how could I possibly sit still?"
"If I can’t help seek justice for her, what right do I have to call myself the Champion of Kalos?"
"Besides, it’s just making a movie."
Diantha had absolute confidence in her acting skills.
She wasn’t worried about audience reception in the slightest.
As for the script?
That barely mattered.
Even the worst script imaginable could become a classic if she starred in it.
"However, I do have one condition."
Diantha smiled.
"I want to play the lead role."
"Huh?"
At first, Sora almost laughed.
She was funding the movie.
She was starring in it.
Of course she’d be the lead.
Who else would be?
But then he immediately realized what she actually meant.
"You mean..."
"You want to play the Trainer who saves Ogerpon?"
"Mm-hm~"
Diantha’s smile became positively smug.
"Also..."
"I’d like to borrow this little one so she can act alongside me."
"Uh..."
The first request wasn’t a problem.
The story was an adaptation.
There was no need for the Trainer to remain male.
But Ogerpon acting in a movie...
That wasn’t Sora’s decision to make.
"Ponii?"
Noticing Sora looking at her, Ogerpon blinked her bright eyes.
Then she turned toward Diantha and nodded firmly.
"Ponii!"
"This means...?"
"Ogerpon says she’s willing."
Sora was genuinely surprised.
Wasn’t this child extremely shy?
Then he understood.
For the man she regarded as her father...
More than clearing her own name, she wants to clear his.
What an unbelievably lovable little fool.
"Ponii?"
Ogerpon tilted her head in confusion as Sora suddenly began patting it.
She didn’t understand why.
But she was happy anyway.
