Pokemon: Reincarnated as ash live my life with adventures
Chapter 354 - 352: Helping Sunflora
Chapter 354: Chapter 352: Helping Sunflora
The road from the Charicific Valley stretched eastward beneath a sky still washed in the soft gold of late afternoon. Ash walked at the center of the group, Pikachu riding comfortably on his shoulder while Eevee trotted beside Giselle. Misty, Daisy, Erika, Melody, and Sabrina moved along in easy conversation, the residual excitement of Charizard’s coronation still lingering in their voices.
Their next destination was Azalea Town, where both Ash and Giselle intended to challenge the gym for their respective badges.
The path, however, first led them into a quiet, flower-lined settlement the local signposts named Bloomingvale.
They had barely entered the outskirts when the sound of rushing water and frustrated muttering drew their attention. A young woman with green-hair and dirt-smudged cheeks was struggling with a cracked section of irrigation pipe that fed a broad garden terrace. Without a word the group stepped in.
Ash and Giselle braced the pipe while Misty and Daisy helped realign the fittings. Erika’s practiced hands guided the final seal, and within minutes clear mountain water flowed again in steady streams.
The young woman straightened, wiped her forehead, and offered a bright, grateful smile.
"Thank you so much! I don’t know what I would have done if the whole system failed before the festival. My name is Sonrisa. Please... come to my house. It’s the least I can offer after you saved my garden."
They accepted. Sonrisa’s home sat on a gentle rise overlooking terraced fields of yellow and green.
Behind the modest cottage stretched a carefully tended plot dominated by a sophisticated sprinkler network of wooden channels and metal nozzles that carried fresh water down from the higher slopes.
Sonrisa led them along the rows with obvious pride.
"This system keeps the soil perfect for my favorite Pokémon," she explained, gesturing toward three Sunflora basking in the late light. "I water them every day so they’ll be happy and healthy when the Sunflora Festival begins. A lot of other trainers go to extreme lengths special fertilizers, custom sun lamps, even imported soil just to make theirs the best. I prefer to keep things natural."
Two of the Sunflora swayed cheerfully, petals open and faces turned toward the sun. The third, however, stood slightly apart. Its petals drooped, its posture lacked energy, and its usual bright expression was replaced by a quiet gloom.
Sonrisa’s smile faltered as she looked at it.
"That’s Sunny," she said softly. "I was planning to enter her in the festival contest... but lately she’s been really depressed."
Giselle slipped her Pokédex from her belt and scanned the nearest Sunflora. The device chimed, and the familiar electronic voice recited the entry for everyone to hear.
"Sunflora, the Sun Pokémon. A Grass type. It converts warm sunlight into energy and nutrition. It moves around actively during the day and stops completely to close its petals at sunset."
The girls gathered around the small screen, reading the details with interest. Melody tilted her head.
"They’re basically living solar panels."
Daisy smiled. "Cute ones, though."
Misty glanced at the gloomy Sunflora. "Sunny doesn’t look like she’s converting much energy right now."
Giselle looked up from the Pokédex, curiosity clear in her eyes. "Sonrisa... why does Sunny seem so gloomy? Has anything changed in her routine?"
Sonrisa clasped her hands together. "She’s the one I was counting on for the contest. Everything was fine until about a week ago. Then she just... stopped smiling. I’ve checked her food, the water, the sunlight nothing seems wrong."
Erika stepped forward, the quiet authority of a Grass-type Gym Leader settling over her. She knelt beside Sunny and examined the Pokémon with gentle, practiced care checking the condition of the petals, the firmness of the stem, the brightness of the eyes. When she rose she turned to Sonrisa with calm questions.
"Has her diet remained the same? Any change in how long she spends in the sun? And... has she had any close friends among other Sunflora that might have left recently?"
Sonrisa’s eyes widened. "Friends... yes. She used to spend every afternoon with the Sunflora that belonged to my neighbor Cyrus. They were almost inseparable. But I haven’t seen that one around for days."
Erika nodded once, the pieces falling neatly into place. "Sunny isn’t sick. She’s lonely. Grass-type Pokémon can form deep attachments, especially when they grow side by side under the same sun. The absence of her friend is weighing on her more than any physical discomfort." She rested a light hand on Sunny’s drooping petals. "If the two of them meet again, I believe her spirits will return quickly."
Sonrisa’s face lit with relief and gratitude. "Thank you... thank you so much. I never would have thought of that."
Ash smiled and rested a hand on Erika’s shoulder. "That’s why you’re the Celadon Gym Leader. You don’t just battle Grass types you understand them."
Misty grinned. "Leave it to Erika to solve the mystery in five minutes."
Daisy gave a playful salute. "Grass-type expert on duty."
Melody clapped softly. "Sunny’s going to be smiling again in no time."
Giselle’s quiet voice carried clear respect. "Your insight is always precise."
Sabrina simply inclined her head, a rare flicker of approval in her expression.
Erika’s cheeks colored faintly under the praise, but her voice remained steady. "It is important for a Grass-type Gym Leader to connect with other Grass Pokémon and truly know them. Battles teach strength, but understanding teaches care. Both are necessary."
Encouraged, Sonrisa immediately set off to find Cyrus. The group followed her a short distance down the lane to a neighboring plot. Cyrus, a chubby man with a kind but slightly sheepish expression, scratched the back of his neck when Sonrisa explained the situation.
"Ah... about that Sunflora," he admitted. "I traded it to Nurse Joy a few days ago. She needed a cheerful Grass type for the local center’s therapy garden. I didn’t realize the two of them were so close."
Ash glanced at the sky. The sun had begun its descent, painting the fields in deeper orange. Already the two healthy Sunflora were drifting toward the open doors of a glass greenhouse, petals slowly folding for the night. Sunny followed more slowly, still lacking her usual bounce.
"We should wait until tomorrow," Ash suggested.
"The Sunflora are settling in for rest, and Nurse Joy’s center will still be there in the morning. We can head over first thing and see about a reunion."
Sonrisa looked between the group and her quiet Sunflora, then nodded firmly. "You’re right. And... you’ve already done so much for me today. Please stay the night. I have plenty of room, and it’s the least I can offer."
Ash exchanged a quick glance with the girls. Smiles and small nods answered him. "We’d be happy to," he said. "Thank you, Sonrisa."
As the last light faded over Bloomingvale, the group settled into the warm, flower-scented hospitality of Sonrisa’s home. Outside, the greenhouse glowed softly, three Sunflora resting within two content, one still carrying a quiet ache that the coming day promised to heal.
The Next Day...
Morning light spilled across Bloomingvale in soft gold as Ash, the girls, Sonrisa, and Cyrus set out together. Sunny rode carefully in Sonrisa’s arms, still quiet but no longer quite as withdrawn.
The local Pokémon Center stood at the heart of town, its familiar red roof bright against the flower-lined streets. Nurse Joy greeted them with her usual gentle smile and quickly understood the situation when Sonrisa explained.
The moment Sunny spotted the Sunflora that had once been Cyrus’s companion, her entire posture changed. Petals lifted. Eyes brightened. She let out a series of soft, rapid "Sun! Sunflora!" calls that were answered at once by the other Pokémon.
The two Sunflora pressed close, swaying and chattering in their own cheerful language as though no time had passed at all. The gloom that had clung to Sunny melted away in seconds.
Nurse Joy watched with clear delight. "They’re wonderful together. Sonrisa, please feel free to bring Sunny by whenever you have time. The therapy garden always benefits from happy visitors, and these two clearly need each other."
Sonrisa’s smile was radiant. "I will. Thank you, Nurse Joy... and thank you, everyone."
With the reunion complete, the group made their way toward the open field where the annual Sunflora Festival was already gathering momentum.
Colorful banners fluttered overhead. Rows of Sunflora stood on display platforms, their trainers adjusting petals and posing them under the strengthening sun. A raised stage waited at the far end, three judges seated behind a long table.
The announcer’s voice carried clearly across the crowd. "Last year’s champion returns! Please welcome Cyrus and his remarkable Sunflora Dorabelle!"
Dorabelle stepped forward to enthusiastic applause. She was noticeably larger than any other Sunflora present, her petals broad and richly colored, her presence commanding. Cyrus stood proudly beside her.
"And now," the announcer continued, "a new challenger Sonrisa and her Sunflora, Sunny!"
Sunny walked onto the stage with a brightness that had been missing only the day before. Her cheerful nature and natural beauty drew immediate murmurs of admiration from the crowd. Petals catching the light, she looked every bit the festival’s ideal.
The three judges began their evaluations. Two seemed evenly split one clearly favoring Dorabelle’s impressive size and presence, the other drawn to Sunny’s lively charm and elegant form. The third remained thoughtfully neutral.
Ash leaned slightly toward Sabrina and spoke in a low voice. "Can you let Sonrisa know she should have Sunny show a special move? Something that highlights how beautiful she really is under the sun."
Sabrina’s eyes glowed faintly for a moment. Across the field, Sonrisa’s expression shifted from nervous concentration to sudden understanding. She gave a small, grateful nod in their direction, then turned to Sunny and spoke a quiet command.
Sunny’s petals opened wide. Light gathered at her center in a brilliant yellow-white glow. A moment later a clean, powerful Solar Beam lanced upward into the clear sky, pure and radiant. The nearby Sunflora including Dorabelle reacted at once, swaying and calling out in clear encouragement.
The beam faded, leaving Sunny standing in a soft afterglow that made every petal shimmer. The effect was striking. Beauty and strength combined in a single, graceful display.
The judges conferred quickly. When the lead judge rose, the decision was unanimous.
"This year’s winner of the Bloomingvale Sunflora Festival is Sonrisa and Sunny!"
Applause swept the field. Sonrisa accepted the gleaming trophy with both hands, tears of happy disbelief in her eyes as Sunny bounced beside her. She turned at once toward Ash and the girls, voice bright with emotion.
"I couldn’t have done this without all of you. You fixed my water system, figured out why Sunny was sad, reunited her with her friend, and even helped her shine on stage. Please... before you leave, let me prepare the town’s special dish for you. It’s the least I can do."
They stayed through the remaining festivities, sharing the meal Sonrisa prepared with obvious care fresh mountain vegetables, sun-ripened fruit, and a light floral tea that tasted like the fields themselves. Laughter and quiet conversation filled the afternoon until the sun began its slow descent once more.
When the time came to leave, Sonrisa walked with them to the edge of town, Sunny cheerful at her side. Farewells were warm and genuine. Promises to visit again if their path ever returned to Bloomingvale were exchanged.
Then Ash and the girls turned eastward, the road to Azalea Town stretching ahead beneath the late light.
Behind them, Sunny and Dorabelle stood together among the festival banners, two Sunflora basking in the same sun, no longer separated. Ahead, the next gym and whatever challenges waited drew steadily closer.
