Chapter 327 - 326: Illusion Forest
Chapter 327: Chapter 326: Illusion Forest
Ash and his harem continued their journey toward Violet City, the location of their first Johto League Gym Challenge. The path led them into a dense, mysterious forest filled with towering ancient trees and thick, swirling mist. The atmosphere felt strange almost dreamlike and disorienting.
Misty looked around nervously, gripping Ash’s arm tighter. "This forest feels... wrong. Everything looks blurry, like I’m seeing double."
Sabrina’s eyes narrowed as she sensed the energies around them. "There are strong illusion energies here. Ghost-type Pokémon are likely behind it. We need to stay alert."
As they walked deeper into the woods, the girls began experiencing strange illusions. Erika gasped as she saw a beautiful meadow of glowing flowers that vanished the moment she reached out to touch them. "It felt so real..."
Daisy blinked in confusion. "I thought I saw Grandpa waving at me from behind that tree... but he disappeared."
Melody laughed nervously as she saw multiple versions of Ash waving at her from different directions. "Okay, this is getting weird. Ash, which one is the real you?"
Giselle held Ash’s arm tightly, calling softly, "Master... this place is creepy. I don’t like these illusions."
Ash remained calm, placing a reassuring hand over Giselle’s. "Stay close to me, everyone. We’ll get through this together."
He and Sabrina worked in perfect sync, combining their powerful Psychic abilities. A shimmering blue barrier formed around the entire group, shielding their minds from the worst of the illusions. The ghostly images flickered and faded whenever they got too close to the protective field.
"Good work, Sabrina," Ash said softly, giving her a warm smile. "Your control is getting even better."
Sabrina blushed slightly but maintained her focus. "Thank you, Dear. I’ll keep the barrier strong."
While they pressed on, a small Hoothoot suddenly appeared on a low branch, its large eyes glowing as it used Foresight. The illusions around them began to fade slightly, giving the group clearer vision.
From the nearby bushes, a familiar voice called out, "There you are! I knew I heard voices."
Gary Oak stepped out, looking slightly disheveled but still carrying his usual confident smirk.
The moment Daisy saw her little brother, she threw herself at him with a big, enthusiastic hug. "Gary! What are you doing here? I missed you little runt!"
The atmosphere turned instantly comical as Gary struggled in his sister’s tight embrace.
"Sis! Not so tight! I can’t breathe!"
Ash couldn’t resist the opportunity. He quickly pulled out his Pokégear and started snapping pictures of Gary in the compromising, flustered pose. "This is absolute gold. Perfect blackmail material for later."
Gary’s face turned bright red with embarrassment. "Ketchum! Delete those right now or I’ll make you regret it!"
He launched himself at Ash, and the two rivals began chasing each other around the trees like they did in their childhood days while the girls giggled with amusement.
Misty laughed heartily. "Look at them go! Just like old times."
Sabrina smiled softly. "It’s almost endearing."
Erika covered her mouth to hide her laughter. "They really are like brothers."
Daisy eventually caught up and punched Gary on the head with a solid thunk. "Is this the way to greet your brother-in-law? Behave yourself!"
Gary froze, rubbing his sore head. "Brother-in-law?! What are you talking about, sis? Have you lost your mind?"
Daisy blinked in surprise. "Didn’t Grandpa tell you about my relationship with Ash?"
Gary’s face turned an even brighter shade of red. He launched himself at Ash again with renewed energy. "Who gave you the right to seduce my sister, Ketchum?!"
Ash dodged with a laugh, weaving between the trees. "Gary, calm down! It’s not like that well, it kind of is, but we’re all happy together!"
The girls watched the chaotic chase with fond amusement, cheering both of them on playfully. After several minutes of running, dodging, and laughter, everyone finally calmed down. Gary sighed heavily, catching his breath.
"Whatever you see in this forest is an illusion," Gary explained. "That’s why I have Hoothoot using Foresight to repel them. It helps see through the ghost tricks."
Giselle asked curiously, "If you have Hoothoot, why are you still stuck in the forest?"
Gary scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "I’ve been busy catching Pokémon and lost track of time. You know how it is."
Ash smiled. "We just finished the Orange Islands. I won the league there, and now I’m doing the Johto Silver Conference."
Gary smirked. "Not bad, Ketchum. I’ll be there too. Don’t get too comfortable I’ll beat you eventually."
After some more light-hearted banter and Gary warning Ash to take good care of his sister, the rival trainer left the area to continue his own journey.
Ash and his harem went deeper into the forest, now guided by the helpful Hoothoot.
They eventually reached a bizarre old stone structure. The Hoothoot stopped and hopped aside as an old woman with a kind but mysterious smile approached them.
"I am Hagatha," she said warmly. "You’ll need my help if you want to get out of this forest safely."
At her humble house deeper in the woods, Hagatha explained that she rents out Hoothoot to travelers because they have the natural ability to see past the illusions.
Unfortunately, she only had one left, and it had never successfully guided anyone through the forest before. "This particular Hoothoot only gets along with pretty girls,"
she added with a knowing smile.
Ash grinned confidently. "All my girls are pretty. That won’t be a problem at all."
The girls blushed at the compliment.
Hagatha chuckled. "Young love is a beautiful thing. I wish you all the best."
With the Hoothoot’s guidance and Ash and Sabrina’s Psychic shields constantly protecting the group, they successfully navigated the confusing forest. Illusions of ghosts, lost loved ones, and false paths appeared and disappeared harmlessly around them.
As the sun finally rose, they found themselves back at a familiar stone structure. An old woman who looked exactly like Hagatha approached them, yelling, "I’m Hagatha’s twin sister, Nagatha!"
She took them to her nearly identical house, where they returned the Hoothoot.
Hagatha called through the videophone, relieved to see Ash’s group safe and sound. With the mysterious forest finally behind them, Ash and his harem continued onward toward Violet City, their bonds stronger and their adventure full of laughter, growth, and unforgettable memories.
