Chapter 324: Chapter 323: Meeting the Rookie Trainer Casey
After Ash and Giselle successfully registered for the Johto League Silver Conference and Melody received her new Shiny Chikorita, the group resumed their journey toward Violet City. The road was peaceful, with lush greenery and gentle hills stretching ahead.
Ash walked in the center, surrounded by his wives, who took turns holding his hand or linking arms with him as they enjoyed the fresh air and each other’s company.
Pikachu sat proudly on Ash’s shoulder while Eevee trotted beside them. Melody’s new Shiny Chikorita rode happily on her shoulder, already forming a strong bond with his trainer.
As they walked along the route, they spotted a young girl in the distance battling a wild Rattata with her Chikorita.
After winning the battle, the girl struck a dramatic pose and began singing an Electabuzz-themed victory song at the top of her lungs.
"Electabuzz! Electabuzz! Go go go! Yellow and strong, you’re the best, you know!"
The girl then noticed Ash and his group. Her eyes lit up with excitement when she saw Pikachu. She sprinted toward them at full speed.
"Pikachu!!" she shouted enthusiastically.
Before Ash could react, the girl Casey snatched Pikachu off his shoulder and held him up excitedly. "Please zap me with Thunderbolt! I want to feel your electric power!"
Pikachu looked extremely awkward and uncomfortable. "Pika... pi?"
Casey grabbed Pikachu’s tail with a strong grip. "Come on! Just a little shock!"
Pikachu, with no other choice, let out a moderate Thunderbolt. The electric shock coursed through Casey, making her hair stand up wildly as she trembled from the electricity.
After the shock subsided, she let go of Pikachu with a big grin. "That was awesome! Thank you, Pikachu!"
Pikachu jumped back to Ash’s shoulder, looking frazzled. Eevee patted his shoulder comfortingly. "Eevee..."
The girl introduced herself cheerfully. "Hi everyone! My name is Casey! I’m a new trainer and a huge baseball fan!"
Ash and his girls listened as Casey explained her passion. "I’m crazy about yellow Pokémon, especially ones with stripes! My dream is to catch an Electabuzz and build a whole team of yellow-striped Pokémon!"
Giselle tilted her head curiously. "Why do you only like yellow-striped Pokémon?"
Casey puffed out her chest proudly. "My family has been avid supporters of the Electabuzz baseball team for three generations! We bleed yellow!"
Melody couldn’t help but tease her a little. "Doesn’t the Electabuzz team always finish in last place, though?"
Casey’s face turned red with anger. "Hey! Take that back! The Electabuzz are going to be champions one day!"
Melody grinned mischievously. "Oh yeah? Prove it. Let’s have a battle!"
Casey accepted the challenge with fiery determination. "You’re on!"
Ash and the other girls stepped back to give them space, cheering for both sides but especially rooting for Melody since it was her first official battle with her new partner.
Misty patted Melody’s shoulder. "You’ve got this! Show her what you and Chikorita can do!"
Sabrina smiled softly. "Stay calm and trust your bond."
Giselle encouraged her gently. "Master and all of us believe in you."
Erika nodded. "Just do your best."
Daisy gave her a thumbs-up. "Go get her, Melody!"
Melody felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. This was her first real battle as a trainer. She took a deep breath and released her Shiny Chikorita.
Casey also released her Chikorita. When she saw Melody’s shiny green-and-gold Chikorita, her eyes widened. "Whoa! A Shiny Chikorita?! You’re so lucky! Shiny Pokémon are really rare!"
Melody smiled proudly. "Yeah, I’m very lucky. He’s my precious partner."
The two Chikorita faced each other on the battlefield, ready for their first clash. The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the battle was about to begin.
The battle between Melody and Casey began with both trainers releasing their Chikorita onto the grassy field. Casey’s Chikorita looked energetic and ready, while Melody’s Shiny Chikorita stood confidently beside his trainer.
"Chikorita, use Tackle!" Casey commanded.
"Chikorita, dodge and use Razor Leaf!" Melody called out.
Casey’s Chikorita charged forward, but Melody’s Shiny Chikorita nimbly dodged and countered with a flurry of sharp leaves. The attack landed cleanly, making Casey’s Pokémon flinch.
"Nice one!" Misty cheered from the sidelines.
"Keep it up, Melody!" Daisy encouraged.
However, Melody got a bit too excited and made a small mistake. "Now use Vine Whip!"
The command came a little too late. Casey’s Chikorita recovered quickly and used its own Vine Whip, wrapping around Melody’s Chikorita and slamming it to the ground.
Melody winced. "Oh no!"
Giselle called out supportively, "Sister’s wife can do it! Stay calm!"
Sabrina added gently, "Focus on your bond. You’ve got this."
Ash smiled warmly. "Trust your partner, Melody. You’re doing great for your first battle!"
Encouraged by her family’s support, Melody took a deep breath and called out more confidently, "Chikorita, use Growth to boost yourself, then Tackle!"
Her Shiny Chikorita glowed as it powered up, then charged forward with increased strength. The boosted Tackle hit Casey’s Chikorita hard, sending it tumbling back.
Casey gritted her teeth. "Hang in there! Use Razor Leaf!"
The two Grass-types exchanged blows in a spirited battle. Melody made a few more small mistakes due to inexperience, but with constant encouragement from Ash and the girls, she steadily improved. Her Shiny Chikorita fought bravely, clearly wanting to win for its new trainer.
Finally, after a well-timed combination of Growth and Vine Whip, Melody’s Chikorita delivered the finishing blow. Casey’s Chikorita collapsed, unable to continue.
"Chikorita is unable to battle!" Ash announced. "Melody wins!"
Melody let out a joyful cry and ran to hug her Shiny Chikorita. "We did it! You were amazing!"
Casey looked down for a moment, clearly disappointed, but she quickly smiled and walked over. "That was a great battle. Thank you for giving me such a fun first match. You’re really strong!"
Melody shook her hand warmly. "Thank you, Casey. You gave me a wonderful first battle too. I learned a lot."
Ash stepped forward with a kind smile.
"You’re a good trainer, Casey. You have a lot of passion. Just remember to stay calm during battles and trust your Pokémon’s instincts. Timing your moves is important too."
Casey listened intently, nodding as she absorbed Ash’s tips. "Wow... you really know a lot about battling."
Misty grinned. "Haven’t you watched the Kanto Pokémon League?"
Casey laughed and rubbed the back of her head. "At that time, I was busy with baseball training with my family."
Sabrina spoke softly. "Ash is the youngest Kanto League Champion and also the Orange League winner."
Casey’s eyes sparkled with admiration. "No way! That’s so cool! Ash, can I have your autograph please?"
Ash chuckled and signed her notebook. He gave her a few more pointers before wishing her well. "Good luck on your Johto journey, Casey. I’ll be waiting for you at the Johto League. Let’s have a great battle there someday."
Casey’s eyes burned with new determination. "You bet! I’ll get stronger and meet you there!"
With that, Ash and his harem waved goodbye and continued their journey toward Violet City, leaving Casey motivated and excited for her own adventure.
