Chapter 880: Chapter 1097: To Birmania

Chapter 880: Chapter 1097: To Birmania

About three minutes later, following the location provided by Julian, Metagross arrived above the military base in northern Birmania.

"Ugh!!"

Hubert bent over and vomited. Although Metagross had protected him when using Teleport, the intense dizziness made him feel as if he had spun around a thousand times.

He vomited for a full five minutes until everything in his stomach was gone, leaving him completely exhausted. If Julian hadn't supported him, he probably would have collapsed on the ground.

Seeing his pale, near-death expression, Julian clicked his tongue and said, "I told you it would be a bit uncomfortable. Regretting it now?"

Hearing Julian's sarcastic remark, Hubert swore that if he still had the strength, he would definitely punch him in the face.

A bit uncomfortable?

This was practically killing him!

'Damn it, I still want to live long enough to see my mother.'

'Are you sure you're not getting back at me?'

Hubert looked weakly at Julian and could only glare to express his dissatisfaction.

At the same time, he asked in surprise, "Why are you completely fine?"

As an expert in spatial technology, he naturally knew that Teleport was a spatial-type move.

The move could indeed allow others to move along with the user, but the prerequisite was that the user had to envelop the person being moved with their energy.

Otherwise, the human body would most likely be crushed during the spatial movement.

But even so, the intense dizziness caused by Teleport was not something the human body could endure.

Not to mention that they had been moving for three whole minutes, with Metagross using Teleport multiple times in between.

Even with Metagross's protection, he had still vomited violently and felt lucky to have survived at all.

But compared to Julian, who seemed completely unaffected, it was utterly baffling.

"I'm in good shape, unlike you—so weak. But then again, researchers spend all day cooped up in labs, so it's normal to be frail."

Hearing that, Hubert didn't refute it. After all, researchers often stayed up late and had irregular schedules, which indeed left many of them physically weaker.

Trainers, on the other hand, had to deal with dangerous environments in the wild and secret realms, so they all had strong, healthy bodies.

"Your mother is down there."

Julian pointed downward.

Hubert looked down, but because of the altitude and the fact that it was nighttime, he couldn't see anything. Though Julian could, thanks to his body having long since transcended human limits.

"How are you planning to rescue my mother?" Hubert asked anxiously.

Even though he couldn't see the military base, he knew Julian wouldn't lie to him about something like this.

"Simple," Julian said as he snapped his fingers.

"Gen~"

The next second, a white Gengar appeared before him.

"Go down there and put everyone inside to sleep, then find her."

Julian took out his phone and showed Gengar a photo of Hubert's mother.

"Gen~"

Gengar grinned and instantly vanished from the spot.

Still uneasy, Hubert said, "Can Gengar handle it? I mean, the walls of military bases are made from materials that Ghost-type Pokémon can't phase through."

"Plus, the entire perimeter would be filled with detection devices and Pokémon specifically for sensing."

If Julian had sent out Metagross or the Twin Dragons, he wouldn't have said anything. But Gengar? He was a bit skeptical, as Gengar had always been one of the more mysterious members of Julian's team.

"My Gengar is a Champion. You think some military base in Birmania can stop it?"

Julian glared at Hubert.

He himself could criticize his Pokémon, but outsiders absolutely couldn't—besides, Gengar was incredibly capable.

Hearing that Gengar was a Champion-level Pokémon, Hubert immediately felt relieved. After all, a Champion-level Ghost-type could, under the cover of night, slaughter an entire city without leaving a trace.

If there was one type of Pokémon most adept at assassination and stealth tactics, Ghost-types were undoubtedly number one.

---

"Ghehe~"

Looking down at the military base below, Gengar's eyes gleamed with excitement.

The patrolling Birmanian soldiers, the Pokémon, and all sorts of detection equipment—none of them noticed Gengar's presence.

"Gen~"

Gengar's blood-red eyes emitted a strange, rippling energy. The waves expanded steadily, silently enveloping the entire military base and seeping into every corner.

The first to be affected were the patrolling soldiers and their Pokémon below.

They yawned heavily—

Then thump—they collapsed to the ground with peaceful, sleeping expressions.

This seemed to trigger a chain reaction.

From the outer perimeter inward, the Birmanian soldiers and Pokémon began dropping one after another.

Some people noticed something was wrong, but the overwhelming drowsiness in their minds was impossible to resist. With a thud, they collapsed to the ground and fell asleep.

Five minutes later, every single person and Pokémon in the entire military base had been plunged into slumber, including two Elite trainers.

Unfortunately for them, they were up against a Champion-level Gengar. The vast gap in strength couldn't be overcome by sheer willpower alone.

Throughout the entire base, only the machines continued to run.

But after everyone fell asleep, one of the devices triggered an alarm, and a message was transmitted from it to the Birmanian government.

Julian was unaware of this—but even if he had known, he wouldn't have cared.

In a certain room, Maya stared in shock as the guards who had been watching her suddenly collapsed to the ground. She had no idea what was happening, but she knew an opportunity had arrived.

She understood that the Birmanian government had captured her to blackmail her son. So as long as she died, they would lose their leverage.

It never crossed her mind to try escaping while the guards were unconscious. Because she knew all too well that as long as she was in Birmania, escape was impossible.

"Son, this is all your mother can do for you. Take good care of yourself from now on, and don't ruin your health with all those experiments."

Maya murmured to herself as tears streamed down her cheeks. Yet, the look in her eyes was unwaveringly resolute.

She pulled a pistol from one of the unconscious guards.

Just as she closed her eyes and was about to pull the trigger, she suddenly found that her body wouldn't move at all.

"Gen~"

Just then, a sound reached her ears.

Opening her eyes, she saw a chubby white Gengar grinning at her.

Gengar pulled a piece of paper out of its belly.

Written on it were eight words: "Mom, it's Hubert. Follow Gengar and come out."

"This is Hubert's handwriting," Maya recognized her son's writing instantly.

"Alright, I'll go with you."

Though she briefly wondered if the handwriting might be forged, looking at the unconscious guards around her, she couldn't think of any reason someone would go to such lengths to deceive her.
