Chapter 1020: Chapter 1237: Family Gathering
Julian had no idea that the comments from the princess of Anglia had already set the internet ablaze. He was currently heading back to Lake City with his grandfather.
They had also notified his grand-uncle, James, telling him to come back to Lake City tonight if he had time, and if not, to just forget about it.
In the backyard, Love was hanging laundry when it suddenly felt a gust of wind sweep overhead, sending the freshly hung clothes flapping noisily.
Looking up, Love saw a Salamence and a Skarmory descending.
"Dee~"
Seeing the Salamence, Love immediately knew that its own cub had returned from the secret realm and ran over in joyful surprise.
"Love, I'm back!"
Julian grinned as he looked at Love who had run up to him.
"Dee~"
Love nodded excitedly, looking Julian over from head to toe. Seeing that he was unharmed and his clothes were clean, it was completely reassured.
"Come on out, everyone!"
Julian released all his Pokémon.
And John quickly spotted Zeraora and said in surprise, "My dear grandson, you caught a Zeraora?"
"Mm, I happened to run into it," Julian nodded.
As a Mythical Pokémon, Zeraora was incredibly cool. And right now, it was observing the surroundings, knowing that this was Julian's home, and also its own now too.
It seemed quite satisfied with the environment.
"Love, this is Zeraora. From now on, besides Lucario, it can also go grocery shopping with you," Julian said.
"Dee~"
Love looked at Zeraora and then nodded in satisfaction.
Zeraora: 'Why does this gaze make me feel immense pressure?'
So this was the other person in the family, besides Slowking, that Arcanine had said should never be provoked. That aura really felt like Slowking's, perhaps even stronger than it.
John: 'Making a mythical Pokémon like Zeraora carry the grocery basket for Love—as expected of my dear grandson, truly impressive.'
"You also caught another Tyranitar?"
John looked with some confusion at the normal-sized Tyranitar leaning beside the Totem one. His grandson already had a Totem Tyranitar, so why would he catch another one?
"This is Tyranitar's wife," Julian explained.
John paused for a moment, then grinned, "Tyranitar is really impressive, going out and finding itself a wife."
Hearing that, Tyranitar scratched its head sheepishly.
It felt pretty proud about itself right now. Sure, it might not be the strongest, not Julian's absolute favorite, not the biggest eater, and certainly not the most handsome.
But it was the first one to find a partner. All its companions were still hopelessly single, even their own trainer was single.
This sense of pride even gave Tyranitar the courage to go show off in front of Metagross.
"My dear grandson, where are your Arcanine and Moltres?"
Only now did John notice that two Pokémon were missing from Julian's team. His expression immediately changed, and a bad feeling rose in his heart.
"Grandpa, they're fine. We encountered a special opportunity, so I left them in the secret realm. They'll probably be out in about a year, and Arcanine should reach Champion tier by then," Julian quickly explained.
"That's good."
John let out a sigh of relief—as long as they were fine.
There was a saying outside: the moment a trainer truly grows is the moment they lose a Pokémon.
The death of a Pokémon could indeed drastically spur a trainer's growth, though if handled poorly, that trainer could also sink into despair.
Using death to stimulate a trainer's growth like this was extremely cruel. Yet, the death of a Pokémon was unavoidable for many trainers.
Statistics showed that over half of professional trainers had lost a Pokémon before, and the stronger the trainer, the higher the chance of a Pokémon dying.
After all, more powerful trainers naturally faced greater dangers.
Even John and Jake had lost beloved Pokémon of their own. John hoped with all his heart that Julian would never have to experience that kind of pain.
Knowing that the Walker family was holding a gathering tonight, Love and Slowking treated the matter with the utmost importance.
They discussed the evening's menu together, and their little apprentice, Magearna, was lucky enough to join in, clearly incredibly excited.
Then Love and Slowking headed out. Of course, they took the two grocery carriers, Lucario and Zeraora, with them. Magearna wanted to follow along, but Love stopped it, telling it to finish hanging up the rest of the laundry.
---
> Holy shit, Champion Walker caught a Zeraora! It's out grocery shopping with Love and Slowking right now!
> For real?
> It's true, I'm a fishmonger. Slowking just bought a fish from me and had Zeraora carry it.
> Shane's Fish Stall, come check us out if you're interested. Champion Walker's Slowking buys fish from us all the time!
> This is insane. A Champion-level Lucario and a Mythical Pokémon carrying groceries for Slowking and Love. Even the Elders of the Alliance probably don't have this kind of prestige.
---
News that Julian had caught the Mythical Pokémon Zeraora quickly spread around the world.
If it had been anyone else, people would have been utterly shocked. But since it was Julian, there was really nothing to be surprised about.
After all, Julian already possessed several Mythical and Legendary Pokémon, including even First-class Legendaries.
One more Zeraora added to the collection was hardly strange. Before long, fan clubs for Zeraora began popping up everywhere.
Every one of Julian's Pokémon had its own fan club, and almost all of them were extremely popular in their respective fields.
The Pokémon with the most fans, naturally, was Metagross—even the Black and White Dragons ranked behind Metagross in this regard.
As for the Pokémon in third place, it wasn't the overwhelmingly domineering Aggron, nor the cheeky Celebi or the adorable Jirachi.
It was their very own housekeeper, Slowking.
Because of Julian, many trainers from well-off families had taken to catching a Slowking to manage their daily lives.
And in that role, Slowking truly excelled. Its professionalism was so high it was threatening to knock Indeedee, the long-standing number one household Pokémon, off its pedestal.
That night, the Walker family held their gathering for the year. Except for Evelyn, who couldn't make it, even James had set aside his work to attend.
After all, Julian had mentioned he had something good for them.
And the good stuff turned out to be ten kilos of the hundred-year-old Monkey Wine per person. Drinking those ten kilos would not only add eighty years to one's lifespan but also strengthen the body.
The taste of the Monkey Wine made James, John, Jake, and Henry—all four of them true lovers of alcohol—light up with excitement.
But the aftereffect of the wine was simply too potent. After just two cups, all four of them passed out drunk.
