Chapter 285: Chapter 285: A Turn For The Better

A/N:2/10 Bonus Chapters

-----------------------

Julian blinked.

Which island was Celesteela sleeping on again?

Julian only remembered that Celesteela seemed to be buried in a bamboo forest.

As long as they dug around in a bamboo forest, they should be able to find that Celesteela.

Assuming, of course, that there were not too many bamboo forests across Alola’s four islands.

He would check later to see where the bamboo forests in Alola were.

He could satisfy Mohn’s wish.

Right now, Mohn still needed to actively open Ultra Wormholes to allow Ultra Beasts to come over.

In a few years, he would not need to open Ultra Wormholes at all.

The Ultra Beasts would come by themselves.

Of course, whether the arrival of the Ultra Beasts had anything to do with Mohn’s research was hard to say.

The four Pokémon flew very quickly. In only twenty-five minutes, they carried everyone to the cave where the Primarina lived.

The hundred-year-old Primarina leader Sofu had mentioned was leaning against a reef, leisurely basking in the sun.

Compared to younger Primarina, the leader’s colours had faded somewhat.

Her body was also a little larger, but her charm was not inferior to any youngster’s.

Seeing Sofu suddenly appear, the Primarina leader was somewhat surprised.

"Prima~"

The Primarina leader lazily greeted him.

He explained why they had come, and the Primarina leader nodded.

They planned to send a gift to Tapu Fini and wanted her to taste the cooking in advance.

The Primarina leader had not expected that, at her age, she would still get to taste an offering meant for Tapu Fini.

The Primarina leader looked at Julian expectantly.

Julian blinked, then looked at Sofu somewhat awkwardly.

"Old man, I need to go back and buy some Water-type and Fairy-type ingredients. Please wait a little."

In the past, Julian had always prepared everything before setting out. This time, he had subconsciously assumed his backpack already contained the necessary ingredients.

Then his thoughts had been diverted by the Ultra Beasts Mohn mentioned.

He had forgotten that he had not prepared the ingredients.

Seeing Julian’s embarrassed expression, Cynthia could not help smiling.

The Primarina leader did not mind. She released a long, melodious song.

Before long, a young Primarina flew out from the seawater.

Sofu nodded.

"This child is the new leader you chose for the colony, isn’t she?"

Primarina was full of youthful energy.

If Cynthia did not already have Milotic, and if this Primarina were not the next leader, she definitely would have caught her.

The young Primarina was beautiful. In terms of appearance, she surpassed the Primarina leader somewhat, but the Primarina leader possessed deeper charm.

Just from that long, melodious call used to summon Primarina, one could tell how deep the Primarina leader’s skill was.

Primarina used song to charm enemies.

If the Primarina leader before them fought Totem Kommo-o, Julian felt she might have a real chance of victory.

She pointed towards the small island behind them. Primarina nodded and signalled for Julian and the others to follow.

Sofu smiled and said, "There are many Berries on the island that Primarina like to eat. The Primarina leader knows that we humans like using Berries to make Pokémon food."

"She’s asking Primarina to take you to the island to pick Berries."

Julian nodded. Sofu stayed behind to chat with the Primarina leader.

On the way to the small island, Julian used Aura to communicate with Primarina.

"Primarina, aside from Berries, are there any other foods you like?"

Primarina nodded.

"I really like a kind of white shellfish. The meat inside is very sweet and juicy."

That would not work.

Having Tapu Fini eat shellfish sounded a little too cannibalistic.

This was supposed to be a gift, not the start of a feud.

Tapu Fini lived inside a shell. Julian felt there was a high chance Tapu Fini did not eat shellfish.

He should choose harmless foods and make them into food as a gift for her.

It had to be delicious, and he could not make any mistakes.

"Anything else?"

Primarina thought for a moment.

"There’s a kind of seaweed underwater. Its fruit is crisp and has a unique sweetness."

"There just isn’t much of it. It’s very difficult to find."

A sudden thought came to Julian.

"Primarina, have you ever encountered Tapu Fini in the sea?"

Primarina’s body stiffened.

"I encountered her once. I was so frightened that I hurriedly lowered my head and respectfully sent Lady Tapu Fini on her way."

Julian’s eyes lit up.

"Then do you know what Tapu Fini was going to do?"

Primarina shook her head.

"How would I dare ask what such an important being wanted to do?"

After reaching the island, Julian discovered that although it was small, it had everything it needed.

More than a hundred fruit trees grew lushly across it, and every branch was heavy with fruit.

Several Popplio were cooperating with Water Gun to knock down the ripe fruit.

Then they caught the fruit with bubbles to prevent it from being smashed when it fell.

Julian walked into the grove and selected over a hundred fruits.

Then he took out his utensils and began cooking.

This was Primarina’s first time watching a human make food.

She discovered that every movement Julian made carried a unique sense of beauty.

Before long, Julian had made three different kinds of Pokémon food.

One was crisp and flaky, one was fluffy and soft, and the last was similar to chocolate, something that could either be chewed or slowly melted in the mouth.

Julian had originally wanted Primarina to taste them first, but she firmly insisted on taking them to the leader first.

After they brought the food back and had the Primarina leader taste it, she nodded in satisfaction.

"I think Lady Tapu Fini will like all three of these foods."

"If you are willing, you can hand them to me. I will take them and offer them to Lady Tapu Fini."

Rather than letting that ungrateful Ribombee borrow Julian’s food to gain even more of Tapu Fini’s favour...

It would be better for her to go herself and earn some of Tapu Fini’s favour for the Primarina colony.

At the final stage of her life, perhaps she could try to secure a Totem position for the Primarina colony.

Even Sofu was somewhat surprised.

"I didn’t know you could meet Lady Tapu Fini."

The Primarina leader said calmly, "In truth, every Pokémon on Poni Island can go to meet Lady Tapu Fini. When I was young, I once attempted to take part in Lady Tapu Fini’s trial."

"Unfortunately, I failed..."

The Primarina leader looked towards the young Primarina and said, "Her talent is better than mine. Perhaps she has hope of becoming a new Totem!"

There were eighteen Pokémon types in total.

In theory, there could be eighteen Totems of different types.

When the Primarina leader was young, she had also eaten quite a few Water-type and Fairy-type Z-Crystals.

Julian packed up the three kinds of food and solemnly handed them to the Primarina leader.

"I’ll leave this to you!"

The Primarina leader nodded faintly.

"I will do my best to persuade Lady Tapu Fini."

After the she left, Julian forced himself to calm down.

He had not expected the situation to suddenly take such a turn.

He hoped the Primarina leader would succeed.
