Aaron had his reasons for sending out Sceptile.

If the goal was to put on a show and crush someone's confidence at the same time, Sceptile's Wood Release was the obvious choice.

A wooden giant dozens of meters tall was hard to top.

The sight alone would be enough to leave the entire crowd speechless.

"If I'm going to show off... then I might as well make it a big one."

Aaron smirked.

...

Across the battlefield, Quincy surveyed the students' Pokémon with open contempt.

He pulled a Luxury Ball from his belt and raised his voice.

"Today, I'll let you witness..."

"The power of a Class Champion-level Pokémon!"

"Now let me show you what real power looks like!"

With that, Quincy hurled the Luxury Ball onto the field.

"Come out... Tyranitar!"

A flash of light revealed a massive Pokémon in the center of the arena.

It stood roughly two meters tall, its body wrapped in pale green armor, looking for all the world like a miniature Godzilla.

It was Tyranitar—the pseudo-legendary known as the Desert Despot, renowned for its overwhelming power and defense.

Tyranitar threw back its head and unleashed a thunderous roar.

A violent sandstorm erupted around it, swallowing the arena in shrieking wind and grit.

The sheer pressure radiating from Tyranitar made the students' stomachs sink.

They stared helplessly at the massive silhouette looming inside the sandstorm.

"The pseudo-legendary Tyranitar..."

"How the hell are we supposed to fight that?"

The administrators in the stands looked grim as they glared down at Quincy.

They had expected him to be ruthless, but even they hadn't expected him to bring out his ace.

This was going too far.

Meanwhile, the moment the Desert Despot appeared, the spectator stands erupted.

"Damn... That old bastard Quincy is taking this way too far."

"A Class Champion-level pseudo-legendary against freshmen? That's insane."

"How the hell is someone like him still an instructor?"

"Exactly. Those freshmen just got here and he's already trying to steamroll them."

"Someone get President Edmund. This is ridiculous."

"President Edmund already approved it. He's not going to reverse himself now. All we can do is watch."

"Fuck that old bastard Quincy."

...

By then, Quincy had managed to turn almost the entire crowd against him.

Not that he heard any of it.

The sandstorm drowned out every voice from the stands.

Aaron immediately pulled up Tyranitar's stat panel.

...

Aaron's eyes narrowed.

Mid-stage Class Champion.

Its move proficiencies were just as impressive.

The one piece of good news was that it had no Apotheosis-level moves.

That alone showed how rare Apotheosis-level mastery really was.

Even Quincy's ace, despite belonging to a Class Champion-level Trainer with connections to Champion Quentin, had yet to reach that threshold.

"Aaron... this is bad. I didn't think Quincy would actually bring out a pseudo-legendary."

Braveon rubbed the back of his head, suddenly looking a little sheepish.

If he had known this would happen, he would have sent out his Lucario.

Aaron rolled his eyes at Braveon and said calmly,

"Relax... I've got this."

"Nice. Then I can relax."

Braveon studied Sceptile for a moment, his interest immediately piqued.

"So there's more to that Sceptile than I thought..."

The thought made him smile.

...

Quincy looked over the opposing Pokémon with disdain.

"The trainer camp assessment officially begins now!"

"Go ahead and attack!"

The students had no choice but to commit.

Commands rang out across the arena at once.

"Charizard... use Flamethrower!"

"Blastoise... use Hydro Pump!"

"Arcanine... Flare Blitz!"

"Venusaur... use Razor Leaf!"

...

In an instant, a barrage of moves tore across the arena toward Tyranitar.

Flames, water, leaves, and energy of every color converged in one chaotic wave.

Quincy only grinned.

"Tyranitar, take it head-on! Dragon Dance!"

Tyranitar ignored the incoming barrage and began the rhythmic movements of Dragon Dance.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The attacks slammed into Tyranitar in rapid succession, filling the arena with overlapping explosions.
