Pokémon: My Greninja Has Minato Namikaze’s Skills?!

Chapter 525: The Trainer Camp Assessment Begins! Quest Triggered

  • Next Chapter

Before long, Quincy arrived with a group of instructors and university administrators.

Pokémon Battle Studies, Classes 1 and 2, were Crown University's flagship battle classes, so the administration paid close attention to them.

The administrators had already heard that Quincy's final assessment required the freshmen to defeat one of his Class Champion-level Pokémon, and none of them looked happy about it.

Was this guy a spy planted by Imperial Elite Pokémon University?

Was he trying to drive every talented freshman at Crown University out of school?

Champion Edmund, however, had merely smiled and personally approved Quincy's assessment.

That only left the administrators even more confused.

So they had come along first thing that morning to see just how this brutal trainer camp assessment would play out.

...

On the sports field, all the students from Pokémon Battle Studies, Classes 1 and 2, had gathered inside a massive Pokémon battle arena.

Opposite them stood only one person.

Quincy.

The tall bleachers surrounding the arena were already packed with people.

Every year, the trainer camp assessment for Pokémon Battle Studies, Classes 1 and 2, drew a huge crowd.

Among the spectators were sophomores, juniors, and even seniors, while the best seats were occupied by a row of university administrators.

The upper-year students in the stands were already buzzing with excitement.

"Hehe... Did you hear? This year's assessment for the top battle classes is actually to defeat a Class Champion-level Pokémon."

"What...? That's insane! Isn't Quincy taking this way too far?"

"That old bastard is seriously disgusting..."

"Exactly... He forced several students to drop out last year too."

"But how did the university approve something this ridiculous?"

"I heard President Edmund approved it himself, so there's nothing anyone can do."

"What...? Has President Edmund gone senile?"

"Hey, watch your mouth. If you want to insult President Edmund, do it somewhere I can't hear you."

"Relax. President Edmund must have his reasons. Besides, this year's freshmen have two real monsters."

...

News of the assessment for Pokémon Battle Studies, Classes 1 and 2, had already spread across campus.

That was why the stands were packed.

Everyone had come to see the spectacle for themselves.

On the battlefield, Quincy looked over the students with a faint smile.

His gaze lingered on Aaron for an extra moment before he raised his voice.

"Listen up. The final assessment is simple."

"Each of you may use one Pokémon. I'll use one as well."

"Defeat my Pokémon, and you pass trainer camp."

"Fail, and all of you will be sent to a League training base for remedial training."

"Is that clear?"

Quincy's voice carried across the entire arena, and the mood tightened at once.

[Ding~ Quest Triggered: Pass the Trainer Camp Assessment]

[What a perfect chance to steal the spotlight! Letting an opportunity like this go to waste would be a tragedy, young man. Go on—show them what you've got, and don't even pretend to be humble! The bigger the flex, the better the reward!]

[Quest Reward: Determined by how impressive your performance is and how thoroughly you shock the crowd.]

The System announced the quest in an excited voice, and Aaron rolled his eyes.

He had known the System would jump on an opportunity like this.

But a quest was a quest.

There was no reason to turn down free rewards.

"Guess I'll have no choice but to show off again."

"It's been so long, I'm almost out of practice."

Aaron smiled to himself.

...

The students had been cursing Quincy since the night before, but with the stands packed, they still forced themselves to answer in unison.

"UNDERSTOOD!"

(Understood my ass.)

"ARE YOU CONFIDENT?"

"YES, INSTRUCTOR!"

(Like hell we are.)

"Good. The trainer camp assessment begins now!"

"Everyone... release your Pokémon!"

...

At Quincy's command, both classes released their Pokémon at once.

"Come out... Infernape!"

"Come out... Charizard!"

"Come out... Blastoise!"

"Come out... Arcanine!"

...

Pokémon appeared across the arena one after another.

They were all powerful species with impressive base stats, and every one of them was at least Elite-level.

A few had even reached the early Gym stage, which was exceptional for freshmen.

Crown University's flagship battle classes had earned their reputation.

Aaron and Braveon exchanged a glance, then took out their own Poké Balls.

"Come out... Sceptile!"

"Come out... Metagross!"

Aaron chose Sceptile.

Braveon, meanwhile, was clearly still coasting.

He had sent out Metagross instead of his strongest Pokémon, Lucario.
