"I'll leave it to Braveon. I'm getting old, and I can't fight anymore. Braveon, did you hear that? The president gave you a mission."

Aaron patted Braveon on the shoulder and spoke to him seriously.

Braveon: "..."

Braveon stared at Aaron, momentarily at a loss for words.

The president was clearly talking to you too, okay?

And you just dump it on me? Have you no shame?

"Smack!"

Champion Edmund slapped Aaron right on the head and scolded him with a laugh.

"You brat, trying to slack off, are you? I said the two of you. Both of you are included. If you don't properly deal with them, I'll deal with you when I get back."

Aaron covered his head.

He nodded helplessly and said, "All right, all right. I'll do my best."

"That's more like it."

Champion Edmund chuckled.

In the end, the freshman orientation came to a close, and the students all went their separate ways.

The week-long university trainer camp would finally begin at eight the next morning.

...

Aaron parted ways with Braveon and returned to his own dorm in Residence 1.

He took a comfortable shower and fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.

He'd had an exhausting day.

Taking a flight, battling Darren, attending freshman orientation at night, and then having to battle that monster Braveon.

It was too much.

Aaron fell asleep the moment he lay down.

...

The night passed without incident.

"Ring, ring, ring!"

Early the next morning, Aaron was woken by his alarm.

Still groggy, he dragged himself out of bed and washed up.

He put on his trainer camp uniform and stepped out of his residence just as Braveon emerged from the one next door.

"Yo. I was just about to go wake you up."

Braveon was a little surprised to see that Aaron had actually gotten up before him.

As far as Braveon was concerned, Aaron was the kind of guy who never passed up a chance to take it easy.

"Ah, I'm something of a popular figure now, after all. If I'm late, people will start gossiping."

"Saying I'm arrogant or something. That stuff is the most annoying."

Aaron waved it off with a laugh.

"Huh. Look at you being responsible."

Braveon smiled at Aaron.

The two went to the cafeteria together for breakfast, then found their class's assembly point on the sports field.

Pokémon Battle Studies, Classes 1 and 2, were training together.

When Aaron and Braveon arrived at the sports field, they immediately drew the attention of many freshmen.

There was no helping it. Braveon's flashy blue hair was impossible to miss.

The girls kept throwing flirtatious glances at Aaron and Braveon.

The boys, meanwhile, looked ready to burn holes through them with sheer jealousy.

Aaron and Braveon shared a look, picked up the pace, and headed for their class's assembly point.

"Hey, Aaron, Braveon. I'm Quick. I'm in Pokémon Battle Studies, Class 1, too. Looks like we're classmates from now on. Good to meet you."

Just then, a chubby boy walked up to Aaron and Braveon with a bright smile and introduced himself.

"Quick?"

"That's a pretty special name. So are all your moves priority moves?"

Aaron blinked, then asked with a grin.

"Hahaha. I wish. But I'm a little chubby, so I can only move second."

Quick scratched his cheek, a little embarrassed.

"Hahaha. You're really funny!"

"Hello, Quick. No need to be so polite. Just treat us like ordinary classmates."

Aaron smiled and spoke to the chubby boy.

Braveon also nodded to him in a friendly way.

"Beep, beep!"

A moment later, a loud whistle cut across the field.

A muscular middle-aged man in an instructor's uniform lowered the whistle and barked, "Pokémon Battle Studies, Classes 1 and 2—everyone, assemble immediately!"

Students lounging on the grass immediately scrambled to their feet and fell into formation.

Before long, Pokémon Battle Studies, Classes 1 and 2, had formed neat square formations.

The instructor glanced at his watch, swept a stern gaze over everyone, and barked, "Thirty seconds. Slow. Far too slow!"

"Are you still asleep?"

"You're supposed to be top students at one of the country's premier universities. Is this the best you can do?"

"Looks like you're nothing special after all!"

"Next assembly, ten seconds!"

"Otherwise, everyone runs ten laps around the sports field. Do you hear me?"

"Yes, Instructor."

Both classes were filled with top young Trainers from different countries. They had plenty of pride, and none of them appreciated being talked down to.

Even their replies sounded weak and listless.

"Hm?"

"Looks like you really haven't woken up yet."

"Everyone, run ten laps around the sports field. I'll help you wake up."

Their halfhearted response only made the instructor's expression harden.

"Huh?"

"Ten laps first thing in the morning?"

"Is he trying to kill us?"

"This is way too much."

...

The students immediately began murmuring among themselves, growing even more displeased with this instructor.

"Shut up!"

"Twenty laps. Run!"

The instructor's temper snapped.
