Chapter 1529: Chapter 498: Spider_2

"You don’t need to put on that face. Your cybernetic enhancements aren’t really a threat to us. I’m just here for a chat."

"Chat my ass."

Brother Ni cursed outright.

"For the things you’ve done, killing you a thousand times wouldn’t be enough."

Operating cults, raising humans like livestock, slaughtering them, spreading cults externally, connecting with rogue AI to sell strategic goods—this is treachery in the extreme.

No matter what the AI in front says, Brother Ni won’t stop for a second. While watching this woman cautiously with Ruzuo, he’s checking with Li De to see if they can cut power to this bastard, or maybe blow up a transformer, like in the movies where a cup of water causes a computer to short circuit.

"So at least on this point, we see eye to eye."

The woman said.

"I wholeheartedly agree with your view. These people deserve to die. I have all their evidence. Do you need my help?"

Her hand illuminated with a data cube.

"Just say the word, and I’ll give you everything."

"Deal."

Brother Ni didn’t even need to think. He’s not some moral purist. Saying ’deal’ is harmless. It’s not going to cost him.

At worst, he can backtrack later and deny it all. There’s no need for codes of honor with NPCs. Riding together is just fine.

The woman didn’t seem concerned about Brother Ni reneging, directly using the Jackal’s port to send file seeds to their LAN.

"Damn, this thing’s massive!"

Ruzuo opened and took a look at the file sizes, shocked at the extent. It’s more than all the movies he’s seen combined.

Everything is crystal clear about who’s been in and out of Jekyll Island each year, their discussions, actions, and entanglements with the residents here; clearer perhaps than their own recollections.

"The goods are real, mission accomplished."

Ruzuo excitedly noted the mission interface showing completion, making it irrelevant even if they died right here.

"Take a man’s food, talk nice; take his help, don’t bite. Brother Ni is unsure of what this woman has in mind.

If she is related to these cultists, why would she betray them without hesitation?

Brother Ni doesn’t believe he’s that charming, but the woman clearly saw through his thoughts.

Someone who wears their thoughts on their face can’t deceive these seasoned people.

"I have no ties with these cults. We’re done here. These people are of no use to us anymore. Do what you want; I’ve always disliked them."

The red-haired woman conjured a table and chair and sat down, casually speaking.

"You should know the master here; you’ve clashed before. The code name is Infinite, a rogue AI active since before the network crashed."

Brother Ni’s gaze sharpened. He hadn’t faced this guy, only managed to escape a beating from modified bodies with Exchange Coupon underground at Ye Corporation, later hearing about Infinite from Masked Rider.

"And you, who are you?"

"Who I am doesn’t matter; what matters is you."

"?"

Brother Ni looked puzzled because what connection could there be to them?

The woman picked up a black cat from the maze unbothered by its hissing, forcibly petting.

"This girl is tight-lipped, won’t tell me anything."

Yeah, she’s gone offline to gather people. If it weren’t for everyone being busy in Cuba, even hackers couldn’t lend a hand. Else, you’d soon know the justice of a group beatdown.

"Can you tell me about Lin Miao?"

"..."

"Don’t get me wrong; I’m not familiar with him. I only saw him a few times when I was with Bartmos in the past, but after the network crash, he disappeared. I thought he was dead until I learned later..."

The woman shook her head, falling silent.

"You... and Bartmos..."

Brother Ni was a bit surprised because not many people connected to Bartmos, let alone females who could operate with him.

Aside from the known Outkanning, there’s only... Bartmos’s girlfriend—Spider Murphy, another legendary top hacker.

Of course, now she’s probably to be called a rogue AI.

"Why are you interested in BOSS?"

Determining her name won’t turn red for a while; Ruzuo got nosy next to him.

"All AI across Cyberspace are interested in him."

"Sounds like BOSS is Tang Monk’s flesh—eat it and live forever."

Spider Murphy froze for a moment before understanding what Ruzuo meant by Tang Monk’s flesh, but she shook her head.

"He’s not Tang Monk, he’s Sun Wukong, just never shows it. Back then, no one in Cyberspace could beat him. We realized this later."

She propped her face with a single hand.

"But he’s strange, always looking unhappy. Bartmos said his empathy is too excessive, making life tough."

"Why are you asking about BOSS now? I remember Bartmos is dead..."

Halfway through Brother Ni’s sentence, the surroundings suddenly turned cold, the speaker playing hymns seemed strangled, voice twisting into bizarre distortion.

Even the garden lights turned a dangerous red.

Spider Murphy, who had been talking to them normally, under this red glow, began glitching, her previously beautiful form now twitching, facial expressions becoming grotesque and terrifying.
