Chapter 1512: Chapter 492: Isn’t My Little Western Paradise More Imposing Than Mount Ling? [Contains Ghost Images, Enter With Caution]
Brother Ni and his group were even bragging a bit about the magic artifact they were wearing, made by the Master and endowed with mana.
(There was also a somewhat lighter, previously mentioned Doma, with nauseating and cultish painted figures.)
Next to the warriors, there were beautiful frogs skewered and stuck into the ground, presenting a unique flavor.
(The author tried hard to pass the inspection, but think about it yourself. Additionally, there are images of frog-body staffs, beautiful frog skewers, frog-skin backpacks, but it’s not convenient to show them here. Compared to these people, the occult in Fox Tail’s writing all seem harmless.)
Fortunately, Brother Ni and Ruzuo both had strong nerves and were accustomed to killing with impunity. After the psychological preparation outside, they calmly observed the beautiful frogs.
"This guy isn’t very skilled at skinning."
Brother Ni commented as he passed by.
"I’ve seen skilled masters in the Vortex Gang skin frogs alive, splitting open a seam from the back of the frog’s head with extreme speed, the skin being neatly removed. Sometimes the bodies would hang outside for days as a warning to rival gangs."
"What happened to that master?"
"I killed him. His bounty was really high, over six thousand bucks. I took the job in the morning and by the afternoon, I had chopped off his head and hung it up."
"That’s something. Back when I was with Haywood, they only chopped off heads. I learned my head-chopping skills from them."
The conversation was overheard by the guards, but they only thought the other side was bragging about having better magic artifacts and were not suspicious.
"Hmm... guys... I think I might have made a mistake about something earlier."
But the voice of New Dynasty Elegance suddenly rang out on the channel.
"What did you get wrong?"
Brother Ni’s heart skipped a beat; don’t mess with me now, bro.
"The things under your feet."
New Dynasty Elegance signaled Brother Ni to adjust the camera downward as he walked.
"These are sand paintings, seems like an ancient Indian tradition."
His voice was a bit hesitant, like even he was unsure.
"I think it’s from the Hoa tribe? Can’t recall exactly. Anyway, these things are used for healing rituals and exorcism, and the lines under your feet signify pathways for the gods, but the pathway must be destroyed after the ritual ends."
"So you’re saying... they’re performing some kind of ridiculous ritual?"
Ruzuo looked at the sand painting below, contemplating whether to give it a kick.
"Pretty much, and what you saw earlier, those triangular iron rings are probably not Christian Trinity."
"Then what are they?"
"Still Indian, they used to live not in houses but in something called tipis, a kind of tent like the Mongolians, but they erected their tents in triangles instead of hemispheres."
"The triangle signifies the connection between the heavens, earth, and spirit realms. They would make fires inside, and the smoke rising from the tip signified their prayers reaching the heavens, while inside was a place where the human and spirit realms coexisted. So, the lower levels represent the earth, and where you are now above the third level is the spirit realm."
He was getting more and more mystical, and more and more excited as he spoke.
"Follow the path underfoot, the end of it surely holds something! The most crucial core should be at the very top of the tent, at the connection to the heavens!"
A mixture of various religions in this place led to their cultures interweaving, plagiarizing, and borrowing from each other, each using a bit of the other’s.
The simultaneous large-scale application of multiple religious rituals must be a highly significant event for them!
New Dynasty Elegance quickly mapped out parts of the passages on the first and second levels remembered by Brother Ni based on memory.
But this wasn’t like the classic round intersecting lines made during Indian rituals, not even close.
This pattern didn’t match any religious array or symbol he remembered, but it looked somewhat familiar.
If this thing must be part of something, then that something must be...
a circuit board
These cultists were using circuit boards as pathways for their gods, so what kind of god would traverse a circuit board?
What else could there be...
Only rogue AI!
These foolish cultists were worshiping a damn cyber rogue AI, more absurd than the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Realizing this, New Dynasty Elegance felt an inexplicable eeriness in his heart.
A group of cultists, worshiping artificial intelligence here?
Was this spontaneous?
Or was it guided by someone?
Or perhaps... was it even a human guiding them?
And Brother Ni also noticed that the further they followed the path, the more lamas appeared ahead, draped and adorned with numerous frog skins and frog-limb artifacts, muttering unknown chants.
Along the way, one could even see through some doorways tall sculptures of fierce deities behind them, towering seven or eight meters high, with three heads, six arms, and green faces, their fangs glaring, making one’s heart shrink in fear. Let alone that they held staffs in one of each hand, made of fully skinned frogs!
The floor was covered with frog-skin carpets, the walls hung with frog-skin bags, and frog-head artifacts were piled up at your feet. The burning candles hanging on the walls exuded an alluring scent they hadn’t smelled before.
The further in they walked, the more people crowded around. Brother Ni even saw several people dressed like him in Scientology robes, only they weren’t holding the lamas’ frog artifacts. Instead, they were frantically augmenting themselves with cyber enhancements, to the point where cables were spilling out from under their robes, dragging behind as they walked.
And at the end of the path paved with colored sand lay a grand, magnificent, charnel house hall.
Wind chimes made of skulls swayed and creaked in the air, chandeliers made of vertebrae and skulls hung high on the ceiling, rows of blank-eyed, naked individuals with barcodes on their necks knelt before an enormous blue quantum computer, where cultists were beheading them one by one, spilling blood surging into rivers.
"Oh great Lord, please grant us immortality!"
