Chapter 1503: Chapter 490: On the Necessity of Raiding Mountains and Breaking Temples

Hu——

Two hovercars took off from the biotechnology greenhouse area in the suburbs of Atlanta, flying toward the southeast to Saint Simmons.

In the tranquil and calm Atlanta, this seemed like just another ordinary cargo mission, blending in with the numerous hovercars heading everywhere, appearing quite unremarkable.

Just like the lush green artificial vegetation on the ground, it was so serene and beautiful, carrying a full box of green food to the customer’s designated location.

However, the drivers in charge of the two hovercars didn’t dare to relax like others. Their hands gripped the control sticks tightly, eyes fixed on the front. They didn’t even dare to take a breath.

Three years ago, a driver strayed off course on this route, and ground anti-aircraft weapons shot him and the vehicle down without a single warning.

They certainly didn’t want to follow in that fool’s footsteps.

As they were about to enter Saint Simmons airspace, two drones suddenly emerged from the ground, flying to the hovercars and issuing a warning.

"Please present your transit key."

This wasn’t all; the drones’ laser probes directly aimed at the hovercars, starting to scan, while the two cannons under their bodies had already locked onto the target.

They needed to verify not just the communications key but also the driver’s identities, hovercar numbers, transit time, and the electronic lock traces on the cargo door thoroughly.

Any mismatch in between would lead to a forced return at best or being shot down at worst, making any switcheroo impossible midway.

The two drivers didn’t dare delay for even a second, quickly connecting the keys to the onboard program and transmitting them to the other side.

A few seconds later, the drones finally halted the cannon fire control program.

[Cleared, proceed]

But the drones didn’t leave; instead, they flew to either side of the hovercars, escorting them toward Saint Simmons.

Saint Simmons is a sea inlet. The terrain here is flat, and the rivers flowing into the sea carve the land into many small islands, with numerous villas and hotels nestled in lush vegetation, making it a famous vacation spot in New America.

But in this era, vacationing has become an exclusive privilege of a certain class, irrelevant to the common people.

On the southern side of Saint Simmons is a small island, originally named Jekyll Island, once known locally as a wealthy area. However, due to rising sea levels that submerged the original bridge, it was abandoned for a long time. It was later repurposed by a group of people from an unknown era.

The whole island is shrouded in a faint mist, making it hard to see clearly. Only the green covering the island and the faintly visible peaks can be seen, dreamy and illusionary, as if not from this world, like a mirage that disappears with a breeze.

Still under drone guidance, the two hovercars found the helipad position, slowly landing. The drivers didn’t dare ask more questions or disembark, keeping their heads down as if knowing nothing, as those people drove forklifts to haul away the two containers behind them, then hurriedly left as if fleeing after receiving permission.

The forklifts dragged the containers into the unloading area, where a few security personnel came to open the electronic locks and open the doors. A stream of icy mist engulfed them, making everything hard to see for a while.

One team member grumbled.

"What the hell? The goods delivered this time are frozen too hard!"

They waved away the icy mist, shining strong lights inside. It was full of frozen seafood, beef, nothing else seen. Confirming there were no issues, they shouted to the forklift driver.

"Take it to the X-ray room for inspection."

"Got it."

The driver scratched his head, unsure if it was an illusion, feeling as though the cargo seemed suddenly much lighter, but didn’t think much about it, swiftly driving toward the passage entrance.

The security around here is so tight not even a bird or mosquito can penetrate. Why worry here?

The security personnel also used walkie-talkies.

"All normal, over."

"Received, continue patrolling."

But less than a few hundred meters away from them, five invisible halos unseen by human eyes were slowly moving away in the shadows, silently.

"Damn it, minus 20 degrees, the coolant on my body is almost frozen. Thanks for thinking of this tactic."

Cybercles, heavily modified, complained, his gear covered in thick frost. If it weren’t for their high-end optical camouflage, such gear would have exposed them.

After nearly three days of observing the procedures, they finally concluded that intercepting midway was impossible and decided to act starting from the biotech breeding base.

A group snuck into the base, joining the salvaged seafood into the containers. To avoid being overweight and exposed, they sneakily threw nearly a ton of beef into the sea.

Having narrowly passed the previous inspections, the X-ray checkpoint was impossible to pass; exposure was certain, so they seized the chance to disembark immediately without delay.

"You’ll get used to it. The security in those company secret project sites is notoriously troublesome, sneaking in without any effort is impossible."

Li De looked around cautiously.

"Be careful not to drop frost on the ground; it’s an easy way to get exposed."

Brother Ni glanced at the frost on his body, marveling.

"No wonder you’re ace agents, details determine success."

Had it been him, he might not have noticed these nuances, getting exposed inexplicably and then hunted down.
