Chapter 1352: Chapter 439: Did You Eat That Sorghum Rice for Nothing? (2)
Morrison found it difficult to understand the behavior of the Horizon Mercenaries.
"At this critical moment, wasting time and resources on this, they’re just a bunch of fools."
Whether they are refugees or prisoners of war, they are just losers in the competition, garbage that society should have already discarded.
Instead of using every ounce of strength to resist the European Community, using it here is practically a war crime!
Morrison felt greatly insulted and disrespected.
Originally planning to leave it there and walk away to check on things, Morrison suddenly stopped and turned back to ask,
"By the way, are they streaming this?"
He didn’t want to suffer losses over this again.
Fighting against this army always felt like being handcuffed, killing a few civilians was of no concern to anyone, but encountering those prisoners was like hitting a high-voltage line.
These people who would die on the battlefield with no concern, why do they have such an impact now?
"Uh..."
The staff was stunned for a moment.
"We didn’t find any related live broadcast rooms, but it’s hard to say if they arranged an embedded journalist. However, the scions of the Burgundy and Orléans families have already been taken back by their families."
"Sigh..."
After pondering for a moment, Morrison said,
"Fire a few EMP missiles to incapacitate the electronic devices in the area to prevent any risks. Also, have the fleet approach the Florida Strait."
"Yes."
———
"What did you say?!"
Inside the Cyberspace Command Center, the Commander-in-Chief was both shocked and furious upon receiving the Military Science update, immediately calling the frontline radio and angrily shouting into the channel,
"What are you doing? Why wasn’t the loss of position reported! Has all that food gone to waste in your stomachs?"
Ever since the European Community joined the battlefield, the situation had rapidly deteriorated, causing understandable anxiety among the previously successful players.
The other end of the channel was still trying to explain, but the Commander-in-Chief, already fuming, wasn’t listening at all.
"Is this an excuse? Is there any use to what you’re saying now?"
The current command post wasn’t crowded; most people had gone to the frontline for inspections, leaving only the ranking-insufficient Family Joy, reluctant to risk stray bullets at the frontline, and the Commander-in-Chief on duty.
"What’s happening?"
Family Joy was anchored in his chair, reviewing the Sky Net’s compiled battle reports, and curiously asked upon noticing the Commander-in-Chief’s emotional outburst.
"The sky won’t fall; why are you in a rush?"
"Just wait!"
The Commander-in-Chief hastily said before temporarily disconnecting from the channel, then walked over to Family Joy and continued,
"Clint’s troops stationed at the strategic line have been breached by the opposition, even losing the high ground. Several special forces units broke through the line and are heading towards our relocating units."
"....."
After a few seconds of silence, Family Joy slowly asked,
"When did this happen?"
"Half an hour ago, they were hit by an enemy EMP strike, damaging the regular radio and making channel access impossible. Sky Net’s lower levels were disconnected, but officers at company-level and above should be equipped with intranet communicators."
This isn’t a trivial matter...
After a brief contemplation, Family Joy said,
"In a joint operation, military discipline is paramount. Both Clint and the political commissar must be dealt with. Also, gather the surrounding high-level players for support."
The Commander-in-Chief, helplessly,
"I’ll handle it right away."
It’s impossible to demote the opponent offline. Someone must take over the troops.
"Wait, let me handle it instead."
Family Joy stood up,
"Someone needs to be on duty here, and you lack experience in handling such matters. I’m more suited for this."
The subject of the matter isn’t players; it’s the local military. It’s best to handle it personally for an appropriate resolution. Players breaking through defenses won’t care about NPC rights and could even execute on the spot.
"You...."
The Commander-in-Chief hesitated,
The other party isn’t even proficient in combat; they barely have any combat prosthetics...
A weak participant going to the frontline could easily die if infiltrated by special forces along the way.
"What are you thinking?"
Family Joy squinted at the Commander-in-Chief, sensing the other was considering something highly inappropriate.
"Uh... nothing."
The Commander-in-Chief hastily shook his head, smiling as he said,
"I mean, your insights are brilliant."
Family Joy shook his head, exited Cyberspace, and when he reopened his eyes, he was already in the dormitory of the underground city.
The soldier posted at the door heard the noise, quickly entered, and upon seeing Family Joy already dressed in military attire ready to leave,
"Do you need a hovercar prepared?"
"It’s better to drive; there’s an advantage to taking it slow."
———
For a soldier, the explosive roar of artillery shells and bombs slicing through the air on the battlefield was akin to the Grim Reaper’s scythe scraping the floor beside their ears, chilling to the bone. According to records, nearly eighty percent of battlefield casualties came from artillery.
BOOM——
Like a meteor crashing into a lake
The earth-shattering explosion sent a soil wave tens of meters high from the hillside.
One wave after another, as if trying to level the entire hill, the deafening artillery seemed endless, causing extreme anxiety.
Clint lay prone in the reverse slope trench, not daring to lift his head as debris rained on him.
Both sides were shelling the opposing fortifications wildly, and exposing yourself under such firepower meant certain death.
After what felt like an eternity, presumably because the artillery needed a break or to relocate, the bombardment that was nearly causing concussions finally ceased.
Clint crawled out from the dirt pile that almost buried him alive, surrounded by smoke, with the soil nearly baked until it cracked, seeing no one in sight, he shouted,
"Comrades, we must not let those guys through, let’s take back the position together!"
