Chapter 1471: The Radiant Queen Gives Birth, East Lancashire Dynasty_3
On the other side, the East Continent Truth Corridor greeted the day earlier than the Old Continent Dragon Court.
The sky was not yet bright, and the nobility and ministers of the Desert Empire were summoned to the palace by [Radiant Queen] Cleopatra VII.
Because a Sixth Order Demigod is considered an “indescribable” entity outside the norm, the gap between them and mortals is too vast.
Even a slight accidental emanation of divine light from them could easily kill.
So since the Radiant Queen ascended to a Sixth Order Demigod [Magic Goddess], during this time it has been mostly the Fifth Order Avatar Isis acting on her behalf to handle government affairs. Most people haven’t seen the Radiant Queen in person for several months.
Even the details of the initial Group of Witches hunting the god and the mythical reenactment remain unclear.
It wasn’t until today that they had the first opportunity to meet their deity.
No one dared to disrespect a demigod.
However, when the ministers of the Ptolemaic Dynasty saw Cleopatra VII, who had kept her chastity for three hundred years, appear in a gold robe, with a bulging belly on the throne, they couldn’t help but be full of suspicion and uncertainty.
Buzz—!
“Whose child is Her Majesty pregnant with?”
“If I remember correctly, after Ptolemy XIV was executed for colluding with the Desert God System, Her Majesty should not have remarried, right?”
“And with such a prominent belly, she must have been pregnant for a long time, so why do we know nothing?”
They dared not voice their thoughts, but their minds were racing furiously.
It was understandable why they reacted so intensely; in the past, the Desert Empire did not acknowledge female rulers, no matter how powerful they were.
Over the past few centuries, the Radiant Queen nominally married her two brothers, Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV, maintaining rule through their identities.
Only after the male members of the Ptolemaic Royal Family perished, and the Radiant Queen herself ascended to become the sole demigod in the human race, did such precedents get broken.
The ruling class had to pinch their noses and acknowledge her as their Empress.
Yet the conservative forces remained powerful, and many people were restless, eager to see the Radiant Queen choose another husband as they saw an opportunity to rise swiftly.
Previously, when the Radiant Queen was preparing to find a substitute to give birth to “Horus,” many thought they had a chance.
Unfortunately, now it was all too late.
If this happened in a no magic world, matters concerning the succession to the throne would surely lead to bloody conflicts.
But here, the Radiant Queen merely glanced at the various levels of nobility and ministers without any intention of explaining.
She simply said:
“You all want to know who the child’s father is? You’ll know when the sun rises, just wait.”
As time passed, at the break of dawn, the first ray of sunlight at the juncture of night and morning came through the Royal Palace Hall doors, coincidentally landing on the Radiant Queen.
Suddenly, this goddess burst into a brilliant golden light, and solemn sacred hymns from foreign lands filled the palace.
The moon, which had long disappeared, reappeared in the sky along with the rising sun, basking in the combined radiance of sun and moon.
A heavenly phenomenon!
The strong light blinded everyone in the Royal Capital Sun City, yet they all felt a sudden spiritual enlightenment, kneeling in homage with the nobility and ministers towards the presence on the throne.
A few breaths later, the people in the palace suddenly heard the laughter of two children echoing inside the hall.
“Giggle…”
When they raised their heads in astonishment, they noticed that the Radiant Queen remained seated on the throne, but the belly beneath her golden dress had returned to its flat state.
Instead, there were now in her arms a boy and a girl who had both rapidly grown to about one year old.
The brother and sister bore similar features, with black hair, blue eyes, and fair skin, both radiating divine light and a fragrant aroma.
They were clearly the son of the Radiant Queen and Byron, [Sun God] Amon Lancaster, and the daughter opposing the Sun God, [Night Goddess], [Mother of Stars] Nut Lancaster!
This goddess had only been pregnant for three months before giving birth to the pair.
And their developmental stage far exceeded that of normal children.
It’s worth noting a common saying: “By two they raise their heads, by four they roll over, by six they sit, by seven they start to crawl, and at a year old they walk,” describing a baby’s development from birth to walking.
When human infants are first born, they need to be fed, put to sleep, and without a stable environment and careful care, they are likely to “come and go in a flash.”
In eras with poor medical conditions, infant mortality rates were frighteningly high.
In contrast, most mammal species around the world develop fully inside their mothers before birth.
Many animal young can walk immediately after being born and some can even run, jump, and evade predators.
Yet human infants are helpless and need constant care immediately after birth.
Many people might wonder why it is easy to soothe infants by rocking them, leading to the invention of cradles and similar parenting tools.
There is a theory suggesting that the rocking motion resides in the human infant’s ancient memory from when they were prey, surviving by holding onto their mother’s embrace during escape.
Crying during such times would attract predators, with the infant being far easier prey than a strong adult.
Thus, those who cried while fleeing were likely eaten, while the rest survived through natural selection.
So, compared to the energetic newborn animal young, it seems that human infants are not fully developed at birth, suggesting that even a ten-month gestation may not be enough.
