Pirate Kingship
Chapter 1456: Half-Step Triple Crown, Collection of Mint Tax_4
That is the perfect anchor to serve as credit currency!
If managed well, the day when the North Sea Empire collects minting taxes from around the world using a pile of paper and armed power might not be far off.
In this environment, it’s almost unimaginable how powerful the Persona Gods [Finance Queen] and [War Queen] would be.
Consequently, Byron described what he was looking for to Amita and ordered:
“Go back and organize the [Naturalists] of the Tower Sequence to dig and see, determine the reserves first. Even if it doesn’t match the energy density of whale oil, it can still serve as an important supplement.”
The latter would only execute his orders with 100% compliance, nodding vigorously to agree.
Just as the girl blushingly asked, “Your Majesty, I accidentally missed last time, can I make up for it tonight?”,
Byron suddenly furrowed his brows and turned to look in the direction of the Iris Kingdom.
“Not good, something happened!”
…
Under the night sky, even the moon was tinged with a faint red by the bloodbath at the Iris Flower Capital.
Magnyra and Jacqueline were restricted by the Saint’s [Holy Prayer], unable to use any mode of movement beyond human capabilities.
They could only tear away the hinder-some skirts of their dresses, revealing two pairs of fair legs, and kicked off their high heels, running barefoot wildly down the street.
Before they could escape the fully armed pursuers behind them, they crashed into another fierce battle.
One side was the Red-clothed Prime Minister Richelieu, who, upon realizing something was wrong, immediately gathered the Royalist Guards and a few nobility who had not attended the wedding along with their private soldiers;
The other side was the Kingdom’s Guardian, [Golden Eye] Jacques Coeur, who had once invested in the [Victory King] Charles VII for a rich return, leading the Iris Foreign Legion.
Bam! Bam! Bam!…
A street battle ignited between the two sides, lines of fire bursting forth, and soldiers were occasionally shot dead.
After the Iris Kingdom joined the Protestant Alliance, Richelieu had struck an alliance with the North Sea Empire, acquiring a small portion of advanced special-supplied firearms.
Equipments include Pump-action Shotgun [Sleeve Sword 1473] and Bolt-action Rifle [Witch 1472], boasting stronger firepower and faster firing rates.
Though their forces were fewer in a rush, they could suppress the foreign legion using flintlock guns in battle.
[Golden Eye] Jacques Coeur held his First-Class Sacred Relic [Gavel – Justice Never Late], yet hesitated to make a move.
The widely known legal maxim states: “Justice delayed is justice denied.”
This gavel could, by borrowing pre-written statutes from the [Royal Iron Law], eliminate subjective factors of law mages and judges, traverse instantaneously, and ensure absolutely impartial enforcement of the law nationwide.
Except for the King who possesses judicial immunity, even a Prince would be struck dead if he committed a crime.
However, the prerequisite for activating it is: “The user themselves has no unlawful cases within the traceable period!”
It’s not that it’s useless, but rather that he dared not use this powerful sacred relic.
Although he moved out only after receiving orders from the Queen and “Regent King” after Louis XI “died of a curse,”
Legally, it might be rightful, not violating the [Kingdom’s Guardian] regulations, but for someone self-proclaimed as law-abiding, he might be scum.
Throwing out the gavel at this time might not strike the enemy but could lead to his own demise under “justice.”
When Magnyra mother and daughter appeared, they were discovered by both sides simultaneously.
With an attack as fierce as a rainbow, Richelieu urgently inquired:
“Lady Magnyra, how is His Majesty?”
The latter, upon seeing this Red-clothed Prime Minister absolutely loyal to the country, forced back the sorrow of her sisters, nephews, and nieces dying tragically, and quickly recounted everything that happened in the Sacred Heart Cathedral:
“Brother and all the royal family members were murdered by Queen Anna and the Count of Angouleme. The two even have a child, intending to pose as Brother’s posthumous child to usurp the throne! The Netherland Kingdom and the Orthodox Alliance are their backers.”
Richelieu was alarmed, yet quickly calmed down.
Looking at the uproarious soldiers around him, he hurriedly reassured them:
“Although there are no royal members left, a Queen’s illegitimate child, conceived in an affair with a paramour, holds no succession rights. The one who now holds the highest claim to the Iris Throne is His Majesty Saint Byron, the direct grandson of His Majesty the [Victory King’s] sister. If we can eliminate those traitors tonight, this country will still be in the hands of us Iris people…”
But before he finished his sentence.
The pursuers behind Magnyra and her daughter had already arrived, led prominently by one of the seven saints of Orthodox, Saint Matthew.
Under the moonlight, the saint’s expression was as cold as frost:
“You have no chance. Even if that Pirate Emperor personally came to this land, outside his domain, without the shield of law, he would die today as well.”
As he spoke, he raised the half-shattered gunhead in his hand high.
At this moment, no one dared to ignore this seemingly broken weapon.
Simply because it was the Zero Level Sacred Relic that had once killed the Saint Heir—[Spear of Longinus]!
