Pirate: Crew of Desire and Bonds
Chapter 229: Great Island Lord, Lord Blauer
Jake’s expression changed as he felt the terrifying killing intent coming from the ancient beast.
’What just happened to it...?’
Just moments ago, the Leviathan had been completely silent.
Now, it looked as though it had been driven into a frenzy.
And yet Blauer remained completely calm.
She simply stared into the Leviathan’s enormous golden eye.
There was no fear in her expression.
"So you remember my ancestor."
Her voice was quiet, yet those words seemed to anger the Leviathan even further.
The enormous beast’s golden eye widened as ancient rage surged through its mind.
The Leviathan’s roar grew even louder as an overwhelming pressure suddenly exploded from its body.
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!!!
The sea beneath it was instantly thrown into chaos.
Massive waves surged in every direction, while the surrounding water seemed to tremble beneath the sheer force of its presence.
Even the Alliance fleet was forced to stabilize itself against the violent pressure.
Jake’s expression turned serious.
’This pressure...’
It was completely different from before.
The Leviathan’s rage had reached a completely another level.
Its enormous crimson scales began to glow brighter as terrifying energy gathered around its body, while its golden eye remained locked onto Blauer.
It was as if the ancient beast had forgotten everything else around it.
There was only one thing left in its mind now...
Kill... that damnation.
Its enormous body suddenly twisted, causing the sea beneath it to explode.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The Leviathan charged toward Blauer with terrifying speed.
But before it could reach her—
TING!
TING!
TING!
TING!
Countless glowing chains suddenly appeared from sea, wrapping around its enormous body.
Golden runes shimmered across their surfaces as the chains snapped into place, binding the Leviathan’s neck and massive body in an instant.
[...!]
The beast’s charge came to an abrupt halt.
Its enormous golden eye widened as it stared at the chains in disbelief.
CLANG!
CLANG!
The Leviathan violently struggled, shaking the surrounding sea, but the chains held firm.
The golden runes flared brightly.
The Leviathan’s rage only grew stronger.
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!!!
Its deafening roar swept across the battlefield, but Blauer remained completely unmoved.
She slowly raised her sword, gripping it with both hands as she looked at the ancient beast.
"It seems... you really haven’t changed."
Her cold blue eyes narrowed slightly.
"Always blinded by your hatred and still rushing in without thinking... Such a stubborn mind."
Blauer slowly took a breath.
The blue flames surrounding her sword suddenly vanished.
For a brief moment, nothing happened.
Then the world around her began to change-
The wind stopped.
The raging waves below gradually settled, and a thin layer of frost spread across the surface of the sea.
Even the golden chains binding the Leviathan began to vibrate softly.
Ting...
Slowly, a faint blue glow appeared along the edge of Blauer’s sword.
It was impossibly thin.
Yet the moment it appeared, Jake felt a chill run down his spine.
’What is that...?’
Blauer remained perfectly still.
She didn’t need to release an overwhelming burst of energy.
Instead, everything around her seemed to be drawn toward that single edge, as though the space itself was being compressed into the blade.
The blue glow slowly sharpened.
Then sharpened further.
Until the sword no longer looked like a weapon.
It looked like a line of pure blue light cutting through the sky.
The Leviathan’s struggles suddenly became more violent.
CLANG!
CLANG!
Its enormous golden eye remained fixed on Blauer, still filled with hatred.
ROARR!!
Blauer calmly lifted the sword above her head.
Her silver-white hair drifted behind her as the pressure surrounding her reached its peak.
Then she looked down at the Leviathan.
"Let’s end this."
Her voice was quiet.
But the moment she finished speaking, the sky above her split with a faint blue glow.
Blauer’s eyes remained fixed on the Leviathan as she finally brought her sword down.
ZING-
The moment the blade moved, a brilliant blue light erupted from it and formed into a gigantic crescent-shaped slash that tore through the sky.
The surrounding space seemed to distort beneath its overwhelming power as the attack descended toward the Leviathan with incredible speed.
The ancient beast’s golden eye widened as it violently struggled against the chains binding its enormous body.
It seemed to realize that it could no longer avoid what was coming, and for the first time, it opened its mouth and... spoke.
[YOU...!]
The rough voice that emerged from the Leviathan was filled with ancient fury and hatred.
Its golden eye remained locked onto Blauer as it roared once more.
[....BETRAYER...!]
Blauer’s expression remained unchanged as the blue crescent finally descended.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
The entire battlefield was swallowed by brilliant blue light.
The raging sea disappeared beneath the radiance, while the dark clouds above were illuminated as if the sun itself had suddenly appeared in the middle of the storm.
The tremendous shockwave spread across the ocean, forcing the surrounding fleet to brace against the violent force.
At the same time, the intense light became so blinding that everyone struggled to keep their eyes open.
Jake instinctively raised his arm to shield his face and squeezed his eyes shut as the overwhelming radiance washed over him.
’So bright...!’
Even with his eyes closed, he could still see the blue light shining through his eyelids.
For several seconds, the entire battlefield was completely consumed by the dazzling brilliance.
After several seconds, the blinding radiance finally began to fade.
Jake slowly lowered his arm and cautiously opened his eyes.
"...!"
The scene before him left him completely frozen.
...The entire sea had been turned into ice.
As far as he could see, the once-raging ocean had been replaced by a vast frozen expanse that stretched across the battlefield.
Jake stared at the scene in disbelief.
’She froze the entire sea... Just how strong is she...?’
But that wasn’t what shocked Jake the most.
In the middle of the frozen sea was the... Leviathan.
Its enormous body had been completely frozen in place, trapped beneath a layer of translucent blue ice.
Even its massive head and hatred gaze were locked in place, their enormous forms frozen as though time itself had stopped around them.
For several more seconds, no one spoke.
The soldiers and crews across the Alliance fleet simply stared at the sea in stunned silence.
Blauer slowly lowered her sword.
Her expression remained as calm as before, but for the briefest moment, something unreadable flickered across her cold blue eyes as she looked down at the Leviathan sealed along with the frozen sea.
"...Betrayer, huh?"
Her voice was so quiet and tinged with... weakness that it was almost lost to the wind as she looked toward the distant horizon.
And just like that...
...the sudden awakening of one of Prabur’kbal’s twelve heads had been dealt with before it could spiral completely out of control.
The entire region had narrowly avoided a catastrophe, and the ancient beast had once again been forced into silence.
