Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System
Chapter 552: Uninvited Guest
Boundary Land, Abandoned Forest.
The world spun around him. When Levi opened his eyes, everything had changed. The magnificent hall was gone, replaced by a lush green forest. Fatir and Little Buji were still beside him, their eyes shut tight as they recovered from the aftereffects of the cross-world teleportation.
SQUEAK SQUEAK…
A slight rustle came from a dense patch of grass as a small, rabbit-like animal scurried out.
The little creature had long ears, four short legs, and a chubby body. Its milky-white fur, smooth as satin, was gorgeous. Its two large, scarlet eyes darted about. Levi sized it up, and it stared back at him as he lay on the ground. Finally, seeming to decide the bipedal beast posed no threat, it ambled over and nuzzled his palm.
“Go on, little guy.” Levi waved his hand in distaste. He had no fondness for cute little things. If it had lingered any longer, he might have stewed it just to see how it tasted.
The little creature’s body suddenly began to tremble as if having a seizure. The next moment—its body swelled violently. Its short limbs became gaunt, sharp claws, and a hideous face appeared on its stooped frame. Its cavernous mouth, filled with teeth as sharp as knife points, stretched into a vicious grin as it bit down hard on Levi’s palm.
CRUNCH!
A crisp sound rang out.
Levi froze. The creature froze, too.
The teeth, sharp enough to sever the hide of a Magical Beast, had all snapped in half, as if they had bitten down on a piece of indestructible mountain copper.
“Damn it!” The Lord hadn’t expected the thing’s true form to be so hideous, and it had obviously treated him like a little snack. Enraged, he seized the monster and snapped its neck.
Forget some nameless little monster; not even a Giant Dragon could withstand having its neck snapped by the Lord.
Levi glanced at his palm. His skin wasn’t broken; not even a white mark was left behind.
As his Power increased, his overall defense had reached a terrifying level.
“What kind of messed-up place is this?” Levi muttered, shaking his head as he looked at the bizarre corpse on the ground.
The lush trees in the distance, the grassy patch before him, and the blue sky and white clouds overhead were all familiar. But the creature at his feet was like a wild rabbit that had mutated after drinking nuclear wastewater, making the newly arrived Lord all the more wary of the journey to come.
He could already feel that this world was devoid of even a speck of Elemental Power. The Holy Light in his body was also confined within the Holy Light Seed, making it impossible to use. In other words, for the time being, he could only rely on his own extraordinary physical strength.
“Levi, what is this thing?”
Fatir had woken up as well. She walked over to the Lord, looking with some “surprise” at the dismembered monster on the ground.
She had studied books on racial lineage, but she had never seen a creature like this.
“If I knew what it was, I wouldn’t have been ambushed by the little beast,” the Lord said, still fuming and muttering curses.
Still, one had to admit the little creature had earned its place in the history books. It was, after all, the first being to have *almost* gotten the better of the Lord—though that “almost” was the difference between an ant and a Giant Dragon.
“Besides, isn’t this New World supposed to belong to your Holy Light Church? If you don’t know, how could I?” Levi said as he squatted down and began digging at the grassy ground with his Secret Silver Sword.
“Father, what are you doing?” Little Buji asked curiously, having just woken up to see him digging in the ground with a sword.
“Pinpointing our location.” Levi had only dug about two feet deep when he felt his Secret Silver Longsword strike something hard. He brushed the soil away with his hands and let out a sigh of relief.
Beneath the soil, a floor made of some unknown material was revealed, engraved with all sorts of intricate patterns.
There are generally two types of Teleportation Arrays: fixed and random.
Random teleportation is self-explanatory, but fixed teleportation requires an anchor point. Since this world was used by the Holy Light Church as a Trial World, the teleportation was almost certainly the fixed type.
“It’s the Boundary Land.” Having prepared for this, Fatir recognized the pattern on the ground at once. “We have a total of five teleportation sites in the Trial World. This thundercloud pattern is the symbol for the teleportation point in the Boundary Land.”
“But according to the records, isn’t this supposed to be a guarded Holy Altar?” Fatir asked, looking around in confusion. The place looked like a desolate wilderness, with no trace of human life.
“You people haven’t been here in thousands of years. A few centuries is more than enough time to wash away almost every trace of humanity.” Levi stuck a small twig in the ground, then arranged a few more, quickly determining his bearings.
He dusted off his hands and stood up, ready to leave. “Let’s go. Since there are no landmarks to get our bearings, we’ll just pick a direction and follow it through.”
Fatir scurried to keep up, her Longsword clanking at her hip. She followed closely at the Lord’s side. “I remember there’s a Zijing City east of the Boundary Land’s Holy Altar. It’s the closest city to us. Let’s go there first and check it out.”
“Alright.”
The two of them trod through the ankle-deep grass, heading east into the breeze. The wind whipped their hair about freely, and their shadows stretched long behind them.
