Pillar of Yita
Chapter 2286 - 94: Armor (3)
The extremely gorgeous petals slowly moved forward, clashing with the dark long knife in the hands of the dragon hunter, turning into a shower of sparks. The blade of the great sword seemed to divide into several, simultaneously blocking attacks from both directions, and in the next moment, it merged back into one, manifesting as a great sword held by the armor.
The armor shrouded in black mist pushed back two dragon hunters, while itself remained stationary, without even moving.
Fang Hong was taken aback, this was swordsmanship.
If the opponent were a flexible construct controlled by a combat artisan, it would be tolerable, but he had never heard of activated armor wielding swordsmanship, nor could magic guided engineering create such complex skills.
That belonged to the realm of the soul, exclusive to humans.
At this moment, the tattered armor turned around, raised its left hand, and caught an ice cone shot towards it. As the ice cone hit the armor, countless ice shards scattered, fine ice crystals solidified on the armor, and spread upwards. In just an instant, it completely froze the armor's right arm in ice.
Luo Yu then put away the elemental staff, and exhaled gently. This ice cone seemed simple, but it was a typical high-rank spell. Breath of Terraqueous, a spell named after the most powerful ice giant dragon in Eteliria's history, held the power to freeze all.
But before the three could relax, the ice on the armor's right arm suddenly made crackling sounds, dense cracks appeared on the surface, and in a crisp sound, it shattered violently, breaking along with its arm into pieces that fell to the ground.
The spell lost its target and dissipated immediately, causing the armor's arm guard, gauntlet, and shoulder armor to clang to the ground. But on the gray stone floor, black mist surged, carrying those scattered components back into the air, forming again with the rusty armor in moments.
The previous spell seemed as if it had never existed.
"After dawn, nothing is left."
The armor looked quietly at the three and spoke in a deep voice.
Fang Hong couldn't understand these enigmatic words, but the strength of this 'armor' exceeded his imagination. Mei had not yet launched an attack, Luo Yu needed time to prepare other spells, and for now, he could only rely on himself to hold off the opponent.
He decisively summoned two more dragon hunters. Miss Tata and the Seven Seas Traveler were not here, this was his limit.
But what shocked Fang Hong as the battle went on was, four dragon hunters barely achieved a draw against this armor, and that was just in defense, offensive capabilities were out of reach. In other words, this rusty armor, a single 'person' suppressed him.
What on earth is this?
As Fang Hong was slightly distracted, the armor seized the opportunity, seeming to recognize this young man standing at a distance behind as the master of these four constructs, and tossed the great sword forcefully in Fang Hong's direction.
"Watch out!" Even Mei couldn't warn in time, the great sword was already approaching.
But that moment a dark ritual took effect, as if a natural force pushed Fang Hong aside, letting him narrowly evade the great sword.
The great sword crashed against the wall, dust falling silently from the stone chamber, but not hitting its mark seemed to surprise the armor. In its estimation, this strike should have killed the young man, stopping the four constructs, allowing it to retrieve its great sword leisurely.
But unexpectedly, the opponent had a mystical augmentation, Shining Sea and the ancient blessings of the Lizardmen, were things most hadn't even heard of in this world.
Yet this blunder left the rusty armor awkward, capable of handling four constructs wielding a great sword, but not barehanded. Moreover, Luo Yu's spell was ready, and Miss Knight, who hadn't yet acted, was also prepared.
Luo Yu raised his elemental staff, an ice mist emerged from nowhere within the stone room, enclosing from all directions. Meanwhile, Mei took the long halberd from behind, the magic guided reactor emitted golden light, manifesting divine strength—a sign of Light Ether.
The light flowed along her hands, gradually converging at the spear tip of the long halberd.
Meanwhile, the black mist within the armor 'quietly' watched this scene, seemingly realizing it made a fatal mistake, but didn't struggle like a cornered beast, merely lowered its hands, standing still and abandoning resistance.
It looked somewhat calmly at the three, finally speaking: "...Golden flame falls into dust, darkness engulfs all."
These were the armor's final 'words.'
Gray mist gathered together, freezing it entirely in a tall block of ice, and Miss Knight cast the long spear forward, stepping back, then pierced forward.
A beam of light pierced the darkness, through the ice, penetrating the chest of the armor. The golden beam of light flashed by, leaving a bright afterglow in everyone's vision, only then the person-like ice began to crack, causing it to splinter.
Yet after the ice shattered, what shocked Fang Hong was that the armor didn't immediately scatter, besides a dark, gaping hole on the chest armor, it seemed to still remain intact, standing motionless.
As Fang Hong thought Mei's attack failed, suddenly, a purple flame burned out from the misty darkness, engulfing the entire black mist.
The flame flashed by, the rusty armor made a low rumble, staggered forward a few steps, then heavily toppled to the floor.
A silent echo filled the stone chamber.
Fang Hong watched this scene, unable to regain his senses for a long time, feeling like he should have seen or heard of such circumstances somewhere.
