Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 390: Eldest Young Master Bai Suffers a Setback
The atmosphere at the venue was electric. Influenced by Eldest Young Master Bai, many in the crowd began to cheer him on.
“Marry him, marry him!”
Wang Meijuan’s face instantly flushed red. Although she felt it was inappropriate, she was swept up in the atmosphere and subconsciously reached out her hand.
Just then, a sudden snort came from nearby.
The snort was heavy and loud. Wang Meijuan instinctively looked toward the sound and saw a powerfully built man in a suit, watching the scene with cold eyes.
“President Qian, you went to Jinghai on business. You’re finally back!”
Wang Meijuan casually tossed the bouquet to her assistant. Hitching up her skirt, she ran over to Qian Laoliu, leaving the lovestruck Eldest Young Master Bai completely ignored.
Eldest Young Master Bai instantly felt as if someone had just stomped on his face and ground it into the dirt. He shot to his feet and followed Wang Meijuan, storming over to the man.
President Qian’s face was thunderous. Seeing Wang Meijuan run after him, he stepped aside with a look of disgust.
“Well, well. A nation-toppling beauty and a passionate prince. Shouldn’t you two be playing out your romantic fairytale over there? What do you want with a rough guy like me?”
His sarcasm was thick. Hearing this, Wang Meijuan grew anxious and rushed to explain.
“President Qian, it’s not what it looks like! Please don’t get the wrong idea. Eldest Young Master Bai is just an ordinary friend!”
This man was none other than Zhang Fan’s head of security, Qian Laoliu, now entrusted by Chen Qingdi to manage his business affairs in Lingnan.
Seeing this woman’s complete lack of boundaries, he felt a surge of indignation on his boss’s behalf. As a result, his tone lost its usual respect and courtesy.
“Who am I to you? Why are you explaining this to me? Go do what you need to do!”
Just then, Bai Xiaolong arrived before Qian Laoliu with his massive entourage of assistants and bodyguards.
“Who left their gate unlatched and let a madly barking mutt like you out?”
As he spoke, his bodyguards had already formed a tight circle around Qian Laoliu.
Wang Meijuan quickly tried to explain, “President Qian, this is all a misunderstanding!”
Bai Xiaolong snorted.
“Where the hell did this President Qian pop out from? Who does he think he is, trying to steal my woman?”
Wang Meijuan rushed to explain, “Young Master Bai… please… Eldest Young Master Bai is just an ordinary friend…”
Qian Laoliu gave the spoiled young master a cold look.
“But President Wang and I? We aren’t even ordinary friends.”
Bai Xiaolong sneered. “I don’t care who you are. Stay the hell away from Wang Meijuan. If I see you near her again, I’ll beat you down. Every. Single. Time.”
Growing more frightened by the second, Wang Meijuan hurried over to intervene.
“Young Master Bai, President Qian is a business partner of my company. Could you do me a favor and let this go?”
“Pah!” he spat. “On what grounds does he deserve any respect from me, Bai Xiaolong? In all of Lingnan Province, the Pope’s followers are more numerous than turtles in the Pearl River. Why the hell should I give *him* any consideration?”
As he spoke, he picked up a nearby glass of red wine, dropped a cigarette butt into it, then spat into the glass. He held it out to Qian Laoliu.
“Drink this. Then you can talk to me about ‘respect’!”
Qian Laoliu slowly took the wine glass. Eldest Young Master Bai watched him with a cold, detached gaze, as if he were the most powerful CEO in the world.
At this, Bai Xiaolong’s friends started cheering and hollering.
“Young Master Bai is mighty! May you live for a thousand ages and rule the world!”
But before they could finish, a hand suddenly grabbed Eldest Young Master Bai’s jaw and forced it open. The entire glass of wine—spit, cigarette butt, and all—was poured straight down his throat.
SMASH!
The wine glass was thrown heavily onto the ground, shattering into pieces.
“The wine’s been drunk. Now, can we talk about ‘respect’ with Eldest Young Master Bai?”
Eldest Young Master Bai choked violently, squatting on the ground and coughing uncontrollably. He suddenly shoved his fingers down his own throat and began to retch violently. After a long struggle, he finally managed to spit out the cigarette butt.
The steward by his side, Bai Sheng, sneered.
“It seems our Bai Family has been out of the game for so long that any nobody thinks they can step on us. Go teach that President Qian a lesson!”
With a shout, the bodyguards swarmed forward and surrounded Qian Laoliu.
“Listen up, Qian! I don’t know what godforsaken swamp you crawled out of, but here in Huacheng, offending Eldest Young Master Bai is a death sentence!”
Before Bai Sheng had even finished speaking, the bodyguards raised their short batons and brought them crashing down on Qian Laoliu.
But Qian Laoliu was a master cultivated by Chen Qingdi himself, his body fortified with all sorts of priceless medicines. His martial arts skills were the real deal. He took several baton strikes to his body as if they were nothing. Then, he snatched two of the batons out of his attackers’ hands and unleashed the Qin Family Mace Technique. In moments, the bodyguards were on the ground, limbs broken, writhing in agony.
Wielding the two batons, he walked over to the steward, Bai Sheng.
“What was that bullshit you were spouting earlier? I didn’t quite catch it. Got the guts to say it again?”
Bai Sheng stared. This seemingly civilized man, Qian Laoliu, possessed such explosive power. His hand-picked bodyguards had been like a pack of mice against him.
Bai Sheng inwardly regretted his earlier arrogance, but with everyone watching, he couldn’t afford to lose face for the Bai Family.
He staggered back several steps in a panic, pointed a trembling finger at Qian Laoliu, and stammered.
“I’m warning you, the Bai Family is not to be trifled with! Offend us, and you might just go to sleep with your head on and wake up without it!”
The words were barely out of his mouth when a loud CRACK echoed through the room. His right shin shattered, and he collapsed to the ground, screaming.
“So I’ve offended you today,” Qian Laoliu snarled. “Now show me how you’re going to make me wake up headless!”
With that, he raised his leather-shod foot and stomped down hard on Bai Sheng’s other leg.
It snapped with a sickening crunch.
Aside from Eldest Young Master Bai’s posse of degenerate friends, the rest of the onlookers felt a secret sense of satisfaction. Many of them had suffered at the hands of this Bai Family dog, but had never dared to so much as squeak in protest.
A few socialites even began to cheer him on. “Wow! Is this the legendary thug in a suit? President Qian, I’m so in love with you!”
President Qian walked over to Eldest Young Master Bai, the two batons still in his hands.
“So, the Bai Family is not to be trifled with, huh?”
Eldest Young Master Bai felt the hairs on his body stand on end. He began to tremble violently. A moment later, a conspicuous splashing sound came from around his feet.
His expensive leather shoes looked as if they had just been rinsed, and a foul stench began to fill the air.
President Qian sneered. “What’s wrong, Eldest Young Master Bai? Not so arrogant now? You looked pretty smug presenting flowers to President Wang earlier. How about you perform it for us again?”
Seeing the surging killing intent in Qian Laoliu’s eyes, Eldest Young Master Bai finally knew fear. He dropped to his knees with a thud and began viciously slapping his own face.
“President Qian, I was blind! I failed to recognize your greatness! I didn’t know President Wang was your woman. I’ve offended her, and I’ll never dare do it again! Please, forgive me!”
But Qian Laoliu just snorted. “Who ever said she was my woman?”
