Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 373: Mission Failed
She knew that if the mission failed, she wouldn’t be able to escape the Black Knight Assassin Group’s hunt.
Liu Fangfang’s heart was filled with turmoil and helplessness. Her heart was heavy, and tears streamed down her face. She knew she had to make a decision, a decision that would change her life forever.
In the dead of night, she dialed Chen Qingdi’s number. The phone’s ringing seemed especially jarring in the silence, making her heart race.
Chen Qingdi’s voice came from the other end. He sounded a bit surprised—after all, it was the middle of the night, and the call was from Liu Fangfang, someone he didn’t know well.
“Chairman, this is Liu Fangfang.” She did her best to keep her voice calm.
“Liu Fangfang? It’s so late. Is something wrong?” Chen Qingdi’s voice held a hint of confusion.
“Yes, Chairman. I have something important to discuss with you.” Liu Fangfang took a deep breath and continued, “I’ve been given a mission… and it’s about you.”
“What kind of mission?” Chen Qingdi’s voice was tinged with caution.
“The Black Knight Assassin Group gave me a mission. They want me to assassinate you within three days. If I don’t, they’ll kill me.” Liu Fangfang’s voice was laced with despair.
“What? Assassinate me?” Chen Qingdi’s voice was filled with surprise and anger. “Why would they choose you?”
“I don’t know, Chairman. Maybe because I’m a visible figure in the company. I didn’t want to take this mission, but you know my family’s situation. I need the money for my mother’s medical treatments.” There was a tone of helplessness in Liu Fangfang’s voice.
“Then what do you intend to do?” Chen Qingdi’s voice held a note of concern.
“I don’t know, Chairman. I don’t want to betray you, but I can’t let my family get hurt, either.” Liu Fangfang’s voice was filled with conflict.
“Then how do you think we should handle this?” Chen Qingdi’s voice was thoughtful.
“I don’t know, Chairman. I wanted to hear your opinion,” Liu Fangfang said, her voice full of expectation.
“Alright. Let’s both calm down. We’ll talk about this at the office tomorrow.” Chen Qingdi’s voice was decisive.
“Okay, Chairman.” Liu Fangfang’s voice was filled with gratitude.
After hanging up, Liu Fangfang felt a little calmer. She knew she had to face this reality and make a decision as soon as possible.
She didn’t want to betray Chen Qingdi, but she couldn’t let her family be harmed, either. This left her deeply conflicted.
The next morning, Liu Fangfang arrived at the office early. She sat and waited for Chen Qingdi’s arrival.
Soon after, Chen Qingdi and Qian Laoliu walked into the office together. They both looked very serious, clearly aware of the importance of this meeting.
“Liu Fangfang, you have something to tell us?” Chen Qingdi asked, sitting down at his desk and looking at her.
“Yes, Chairman.” Liu Fangfang took a deep breath and said, “I’ve received a mission from the Outer Island Black Knight Assassin Group.”
“What? The Black Knight Assassin Group?” Qian Laoliu asked in surprise. “Why would they pick you?”
“I don’t know, Vice President,” Liu Fangfang said, shaking her head. “Perhaps it’s because I’m a visible figure at the company.”
“So you’re saying they want you to assassinate the Chairman?” Qian Laoliu’s voice was filled with disbelief.
“Yes, Vice President.” Liu Fangfang nodded. “And they’ve given me three days. If I fail, they’ll take my life.”
“This is outrageous!” Qian Laoliu said angrily. “We can’t let these people threaten the company!”
“So, what is your decision?” Chen Qingdi asked, looking at Liu Fangfang.
“I don’t know, Chairman.” Liu Fangfang’s voice was hesitant. “I don’t want to betray you, but I can’t let my family be harmed either.”
“Fangfang, I know you don’t want to betray the company, but you can’t let your family be harmed, either,” Chen Qingdi said gravely. “Therefore, I have a mission for you.”
Liu Fangfang looked up at Chen Qingdi, but said nothing.
“Call the Black Knight Assassin Group from Outer Island right now. Tell them you’ve completed the mission, that I have died at your hands,” Chen Qingdi said slowly.
“Then, arrange to meet them. I’ll have Qian Laoliu and the security team lay an ambush and take them all down at once.”
The color drained from Liu Fangfang’s face. ‘This plan is too risky!’
“Fangfang, just do it without reservation,” Chen Qingdi said, looking at her. “The Mingyue Group’s security team won’t fail. You don’t need to worry.”
Liu Fangfang hesitated for a moment before finally nodding. “Okay, Chairman.”
With that, she immediately took out her phone and made the call.
The call connected quickly.
“I’ve completed the mission. Chen Qingdi is dead by my hand,” Liu Fangfang said in a cold voice. “Now you can rest easy, can’t you?”
“Excellent. We were right to trust you,” a man’s voice replied from the other end. “Let’s meet now.”
“Alright. You name the time and place,” Liu Fangfang said.
The man paused for a moment. “Then let’s meet tomorrow at three p.m. at the coffee shop in the city center.”
“Fine.” Liu Fangfang nodded. “I’ll be there on time.”
After hanging up, Liu Fangfang immediately reported back to Chen Qingdi.
“Good. You did very well,” Chen Qingdi said in approval. “Tomorrow at three p.m., Qian Laoliu will have the security team set up an ambush around the coffee shop. The moment they spot anyone from the Black Knight Assassin Group, they will move in.”
“Yes, Chairman,” Liu Fangfang replied with a nod.
At three p.m. the next day, Liu Fangfang arrived punctually at the downtown coffee shop.
She sat in a corner, silently waiting for the members of the Black Knight Assassin Group to appear.
Soon after, a man walked into the coffee shop. He glanced around before heading straight for Liu Fangfang’s table.
“You must be the assassin who completed the mission?” the man asked, looking at Liu Fangfang.
“That’s right,” Liu Fangfang answered coldly. “I’ve completed the mission. Chen Qingdi is dead by my hand.”
“Excellent.” The man nodded. “We were right to trust you.”
Just as he spoke, a sudden commotion erupted at the coffee shop’s entrance.
The man’s expression changed. He started to turn around to look, but found he couldn’t move.
A group of security officers had rushed in from all sides, completely surrounding the coffee shop.
“What are you doing?” the man yelled. “We’re just here to discuss business!”
