Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 371: You Are Giving Up the Opportunity
The Purple-Winged Celestial King’s brow furrowed as he spoke in a cold voice.
“Are you all trying to abandon this mission? An opportunity like this was hard-won. If we let it slip by, who knows when we’ll get another? We must act on this intelligence!”
The other Black Knight leaders looked at each other and shook their heads.
One of them said, “Purple-Winged Celestial King, we’re not trying to abandon the mission. But we must be cautious and not walk into an enemy trap out of impulsiveness. We suggest you send some people to test the authenticity of this intelligence first, and then we can act.”
Upon hearing this, the Purple-Winged Celestial King’s expression grew even darker.
He snorted coldly. “Since none of you are willing to trust me, I’ll act on my own. I believe my intelligence is accurate. Chen Qingdi is on Medical God Island, just waiting for me to assassinate him.” With that, he turned and left.
The other Black Knight leaders watched his retreating figure and fell silent. They knew the Purple-Winged Celestial King was the most capable among them. If he was determined to act alone, they had no choice but to let him go.
On a dark night, a group of leaders from the Black Knights, an assassin organization from the Outer Island, were arguing heatedly. They were gathered around a large, round table laden with fine food and wine, yet no one touched a thing.
“Since you don’t believe my intelligence is accurate, I will take my own men to Medical God Island, ambush Chen Qingdi according to this intel, and take his head.”
The Purple-Winged Celestial King furiously flipped the table, sending wine and food scattering across the floor. He glared at the Black Knight leaders below him and said firmly, “But if any of you think you can claim a share of the credit for this later, it’s absolutely impossible.”
“I’m afraid you’ll fail to take Chen Qingdi’s head, and you won’t be coming back either,” one leader said with a sneer.
“Then let’s seal it with a pact and see who’s right!” the Purple-Winged Celestial King retorted, not backing down. He wiped the wine from his hand, held it out, and stared resolutely at the other leaders.
The leaders looked at one another, then reached out and slapped their hands against the Purple-Winged Celestial King’s. The crisp sound of their palms meeting echoed in the air, as if declaring the start of a great battle.
The Purple-Winged Celestial King turned and left, embarking on the journey to Medical God Island with his ten assassins.
The group crossed desolate beaches and trekked through the jungle. They encountered various difficulties and challenges along the way, but the Purple-Winged Celestial King always walked resolutely at the front, leading his men forward.
After a grueling journey over mountains and through rivers, they finally reached Medical God Island.
The island was like a paradise on earth, shaded by green trees, filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers. Yet, beneath this beautiful exterior hid countless dangers and enemies.
The Purple-Winged Celestial King and his men began searching the island for Chen Qingdi’s whereabouts. They discovered he was not on the island, but had gone to a small, nearby isle. So, without stopping, they immediately headed for that island.
On the way to Medical God Island, the Purple-Winged Celestial King displayed immense confidence in front of his men.
He threw back a mouthful of strong liquor, then poured a cup for each of the assassins.
“Brothers, this trip to Medical God Island will be as easy as stopping by a neighbor’s house,” he laughed. “I’ve gotten word from an inside traitor. We have all of Chen Qingdi’s movements in the palm of our hands. Don’t you worry, everything is going according to plan.”
The assassins exchanged glances. Though they trusted the Purple-Winged Celestial King, the mission was too important, and they couldn’t help but be cautious.
“Celestial King, we understand what you mean, but we still feel a bit uneasy,” one assassin said. “Shouldn’t we be more careful?”
The Purple-Winged Celestial King waved a hand, signaling for them not to worry. “Absolutely nothing will go wrong. Just relax.”
After they entered the perimeter of Medical God Island, everything seemed to go too smoothly.
The security and bodyguards of Medical God Island seemed to have vanished into thin air; they met no resistance. They reached Chen Qingdi’s room according to plan.
“Strike!” With a command from the Purple-Winged Celestial King, the assassins drew their weapons.
Suddenly, a group of people swarmed in from all directions, quickly surrounding the assassins. The Purple-Winged Celestial King’s expression changed. ‘This is bad,’ he thought.
“What do we do now?” the assassins asked in a panic.
The Purple-Winged Celestial King took a deep breath. “Since we’re surrounded, we’ll fight to the death!”
At that moment, Chen Qingdi’s subordinate, Qian Laoliu, and the vice president of the security company division led their people into a fight with the Black Knight assassins.
“Brothers, get them!” Qian Laoliu commanded, and everyone surged forward.
Although the assassins were fierce, they were gradually overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies.
In just half an hour, nine assassins were killed and two were captured alive. The Purple-Winged Celestial King was also killed in the chaotic battle.
“Sigh, we let our guard down,” Qian Laoliu sighed. “I didn’t expect the traitor on Medical God Island to be even more cunning than we imagined.”
Qian Laoliu pushed open the door to the Chairman’s office. His face was weary, but his eyes showed a firm resolve. He reported to Chen Qingdi that they had just successfully repelled the enemy in a sudden battle.
“Chairman, we’ve eliminated all of the assassins from just now,” Qian Laoliu reported, a hint of pride in his tone. “We also captured two heavily wounded prisoners. Should we put them in the basement for interrogation?”
Chen Qingdi, seated at his desk, looked up. He gave Qian Laoliu a long, deep look, then shook his head.
“There’s no need for interrogation,” Chen Qingdi said, his voice calm. “Just kill them.”
Qian Laoliu was stunned for a moment, apparently not expecting Chen Qingdi to make such a decision. But he quickly recovered and nodded.
“Yes, Chairman,” Qian Laoliu replied. “We need to keep our guard up. More assassins will come.”
Chen Qingdi nodded, then stood and walked to the window, gazing out at the night. He knew full well that this fight was only the beginning. The real challenge was yet to come.
“You’ve done well, Qian Laoliu,” Chen Qingdi said, turning to face him. “I will remember your contribution.”
Qian Laoliu smiled faintly. He knew he hadn’t been perfect, but he also knew he would continue to work hard to protect the company and the Chairman.
“Thank you, Chairman,” Qian Laoliu said. “I will continue to do my best.”
Chen Qingdi watched Qian Laoliu’s retreating figure, his heart filled with anticipation and confidence.
He knew that among his subordinates, there were many outstanding talents like Qian Laoliu, and that they would all strive together for the company’s success.
