Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 367: Ganging Up to Force an Abdication
As they left, the two Ms. Yamaguchis gave Chen Qingdi a look that held a trace of grievance.
Chen Qingdi just smiled.
“These two ladies are here to discuss a partnership. Go and talk it over with them. Cooperate in any areas you can. Their wish to partner with us is my wish as well.”
Wang Meijuan casually folded her long hair several times and tied it up with a hairpin.
She led the three of them to the group’s headquarters.
Just as they arrived, she suddenly received a message from her secretary: “Chairwoman, several of the company’s major directors are simultaneously demanding a board meeting to discuss the company’s direction.”
Wang Meijuan snorted. “Are these people trying to kick me while I’m down? That’s the one thing I’m not afraid of. Let’s go and see.”
She ordered her secretary to entertain Yamaguchi Aiko and her sister-in-law in her office and asked Chen Qingdi to accompany her to the board meeting. When they arrived, she found that all the seats were taken. She had her young secretary bring in another chair, placed it next to her own, and had Chen Qingdi sit with her.
At that moment, her uncle, Wang Chengye, stood up. “This is a board meeting for the family business. What is an outsider doing here?”
Wang Meijuan said very calmly, “He is now my new boyfriend. We will be getting married soon. So tell me, why can’t he attend a Wang Family board meeting?”
Third Uncle, Wang Chengwu, stood up.
“Meijuan, can you stop fooling around? Your third husband was just cursed to death by you, and you’re already this eager to marry yourself off? What will the tabloids say about our Wang Family?”
Wang Meijuan snorted.
“There’s nothing shameful about getting married. What’s shameful is the company falling apart! Or does Third Uncle think it would be glorious for the Wang Family to become a clan of beggars, taking our children to beg on the streets?”
Fourth Uncle, Wang Chengbin, picked up the conversation. “Niece, you can’t talk like that. Our business is thriving right now. No one can jinx it into suddenly collapsing. If you’re already having such thoughts, it proves you’re not fit to remain in the chairwoman’s seat.”
SLAM! Wang Meijuan slapped the table and shot to her feet.
“My shares alone account for fifty-one percent of the entire company! You people live off the company my father founded. What right do you have to veto my position as chairwoman?”
Wang Chengye sighed. “It’s not that we want to veto you. But public opinion is raging. Everyone is saying you’ve attracted an evil spirit that cursed your three husbands to death. Our Wang Family’s Jiuge Group stock has completely plummeted. If there’s no way to fix this, you’ll have to step down as chairwoman. Otherwise, we can all just go begging.”
“Who exactly started these rumors?”
Wang Meijuan’s tone was uncompromising. “I will immediately deploy the economic investigation department to conduct a thorough investigation. And if I discover anyone harming the company’s interests, I’ll hand them over to the legal department for processing!”
Wang Chengye glanced at his younger brothers. Seeing them all nod slightly, he stood up.
“Regardless of how you plan to handle this, it has to wait until the current crisis is over. So I ask you, how do you intend to end this crisis?”
Wang Meijuan said very calmly, “My new boyfriend has already solved this problem perfectly. Yesterday, I slept in that so-called haunted house again, and it was completely peaceful. He accompanied me and we spent a safe night.”
The moment the words left her mouth, she noticed the other shareholders on the board turn pale. Some looked so embarrassed they wanted the floor to swallow them whole, while others practically buried their heads in their laps.
Wang Chengbin, who was known as their “living Zhuge Liang,” stood up. “How is it that others meet with disaster, but as soon as this kid shows up, everything is perfectly fine? I suspect this kid is colluding with those demons, using this opportunity to harm our Jiuge Group!”
As soon as he said this, the other directors swarmed and surrounded Chen Qingdi.
“I’d like to see what kind of monster this kid is, daring to cause trouble here!”
SLAM! Wang Meijuan smashed her palm on the table. “Guards!”
Fully armed security guards rushed in.
“Arrest all these troublemaking directors and have the economic investigation department interrogate them thoroughly!”
However, the guards just stood there, motionless. They completely ignored Wang Meijuan’s command.
Wang Meijuan sneered. “You people eat the company’s food but refuse to do the company’s work. Are you rebelling?”
The security captain said sheepishly, “President Wang, we only serve the truth, not tyranny!”
“Traitors!” Wang Meijuan roared.
“Who is the tyranny, and who is the truth?”
Wang Chengye chuckled. “It seems the truth is on our side now, and your tyranny is about to end!”
The uncles all had malicious expressions, making Wang Meijuan tremble with rage.
“You’re twisting the truth! Is there no family bond left between us?”
In return, she only received the cold stares of her uncles.
“You lot, go and seize that rumor-mongering young man for me! Take him to the basement and ‘entertain’ him properly!”
Before Wang Chengye’s voice had even faded, the guards swarmed toward Chen Qingdi.
The security captain asked with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, “Brother, are you coming with us on your own, or do we have to make you?”
Chen Qingdi said calmly, “You say I’m in league with the evil spirits. Do you have any proof?”
Wang Chengwu sneered. “These so-called evil spirits appeared suddenly and vanished just as bizarrely. Who else can explain it but you?”
Chen Qingdi also sneered. “By that logic, I could also say you hired the evil spirits and framed someone else.”
At this point, Wang Meijuan’s uncles had thrown all restraint to the wind.
“No matter how silver-tongued you are, you can’t cover up the fact that you’ve brought disaster upon our group! Men, drag him away and give him a proper ‘welcome’!”
The security captain clenched his fists tightly, and his knuckles let out a series of sharp CRACKS.
He then threw a vicious punch aimed at Chen Qingdi’s temple.
Chen Qingdi didn’t even flinch. With a flick of his finger, a Flying Needle, nearly invisible, pierced the captain’s shoulder blade.
As a result, the security captain’s arm was raised high in the air but couldn’t come down, leaving him standing there in an extremely awkward pose.
Chen Qingdi sneered. “This isn’t a performance art piece. Why are you striking a pose?” With that, he lifted his foot and kicked the man in the groin. The security captain let out a pained HOWL and collapsed to the ground.
“Anyone else?”
Although Wang Chengye was shocked, he wasn’t too afraid, relying on his superior numbers. He roared at the top of his lungs, “Beat him to death! I’ll take responsibility for whatever happens!”
The other guards were all professionally trained. Holding short batons, they surged toward Chen Qingdi. At this point, they no longer cared if he was injured or in mortal danger—they were going for the kill.
But with a flash of silver light, all the charging guards cried out in pain and collapsed on the ground.
“Watch out! He has Hidden Weapons!”
In the blink of an eye, a second group of guards entered from outside. These men seemed to be the Jiuge Group’s elite protectors; their skills were clearly a level above those of the regular security.
