Peerless Medical Emperor
Chapter 351: This is the Handsome Man Ploy
He arrived at Li Shuang’Er’s room. The room’s layout was identical, and the two sisters were dressed the same, making him feel as if he’d hardly left the other room at all.
“Shuang’Er, can I call you that?”
The girl snorted, her disdain palpable.
“It was my sister who snitched, wasn’t it? I told her not to tell anyone about this. Since she told you that much, she’s probably told you even more. Spill it. What kind of sweet-talk did you use on her?”
Chen Qingdi smiled. “Did I really need to sweet-talk Fang’Er? You should know the answer to that better than anyone.”
There wasn’t much hatred in Li Shuang’Er’s eyes. She knew her sister hadn’t been tortured or abused, and in fact, hadn’t come to hate this man at all.
“You’re lucky you know your place. Otherwise, forget us sisters—if our sect found out, they’d hunt you to the ends of the earth!”
Chen Qingdi’s voice turned grim. “I just want to save my wife and child!”
Li Shuang’Er closed her eyes and said nothing.
“Why are you two so cruel? Aren’t you afraid I’ll retaliate with the same methods?”
“Master said that even though he hates you to the bone, he has to admit you’re a gentleman. You might not be completely celibate, but you would never violate a girl without reason. Besides, we never wanted to harm your wife and child. We just wanted to make them temporarily unable to…”
Realizing she had misspoken, she quickly covered her mouth.
Chen Qingdi chuckled softly.
“How about you whisper me a little secret? How do I wake my wife up?”
Li Shuang’Er kept her eyes closed, remaining silent.
Chen Qingdi sat gently on the edge of the bed, lifted her up, and cradled her in his arms.
“Maybe your master misjudged me. To be honest, I’m a ruthless demon king who kills without batting an eye!”
As he said this, he tried his best to put on a ferocious expression.
His tone was quite chilling. The girl opened her eyes and looked at him in terror.
But when she saw he was only being verbally aggressive and not taking any real action, she relaxed.
“We only put your wife into a deep sleep; we didn’t harm her in any other way. And you’ve imprisoned us. That makes us even. If we get out of this one day, we can go our separate ways and pretend this never happened.”
Chen Qingdi nodded. “Tell me one more thing. When will Shen Mingyue wake up? If she stays in this deep sleep, it will cause severe damage to her bodily functions and overall health!”
Li Shuang’Er blinked at him and said slyly, “Will I tell you? Take a guess.”
As she spoke, she was both coquettish and cute, causing Chen Qingdi to be momentarily dazed.
At this moment, Chen Qingdi felt that this Li Shuang’Er seemed rather innocent and lively, while Gu Shuang’Er was quite quiet and steady.
But this wasn’t a reliable way to tell the twin sisters apart. It was possible the two personalities could switch between them.
He sighed. “You two are in for a lot of suffering in the future.”
“How do you know?” Li Shuang’Er was quite curious.
Chen Qingdi deliberately kept her in suspense before speaking.
“Think about it. When your sister grows up, she’ll fall in love and get married. Whatever she experiences, you’ll be able to feel it. But you won’t be married at the same time, so won’t you be suffering terribly then?”
“Bah! My sister won’t be the one getting married first!”
“Why?”
Li Shuang’Er blurted out, “Because we once made a pact…”
At this point, she suddenly realized she’d revealed too much, potentially giving him a breakthrough for his interrogation, and immediately fell silent.
“Leaving a sentence half-finished is really frustrating, you know?”
Li Shuang’Er closed her eyes. Lying in his arms, she neither answered nor resisted.
No matter what topic Chen Qingdi brought up, she simply wouldn’t speak.
Left with no other choice, Chen Qingdi suddenly started laying on the sweet talk.
Who knows where he found them, but he started reciting love letters to Shuang’Er.
Li Shuang’Er, who had never been in a relationship, couldn’t help but blush furiously as she listened. She suddenly snapped her eyes open and said fiercely,
“You scumbag, shut up!”
‘I’m not afraid of you cursing me; I’m afraid of you not speaking.’
‘As long as you’re talking, there’s a chance I can uncover your secrets.’
Chen Qingdi said softly, “Look into my eyes.”
Li Shuang’Er subconsciously met his gaze and was suddenly struck by the fiery passion of youth dancing in his eyes.
It was a look that was passionate, deep, and bold all at once, making her blush uncontrollably.
“Close your eyes! Don’t look at me!”
Even though he hadn’t made any improper moves, his gaze alone was enough to send her into a panic.
Chen Qingdi said with exaggerated passion, “Shuang’Er, I love you! Marry me! I’ll give you a warm home, and you’ll never have to wander again…”
Terrified, Li Shuang’Er didn’t dare to look anymore, squeezing her eyes shut. But even with them closed, his intensely sincere and passionate face materialized in her mind.
Meanwhile, his words continued to bombard her ears.
“Don’t tell your sister that I’m courting you. Look…”
As he spoke, there was a SNAP.
Her curiosity piqued, she opened her eyes and looked toward the source of the sound.
She saw that a small, exquisitely decorated box had been opened, revealing a large-carat diamond ring.
Chen Qingdi very elegantly took her slender hand and slid the ring onto her ring finger.
“This is our secret. Don’t tell your sister!”
Li Shuang’Er suddenly felt as if this scumbag was using some kind of brainwashing spell on her. A mix of fear and terror made her roar hysterically,
“Stop trying to fool me, you scumbag! You already have a wife, how dare you propose to me?! Get lost! Don’t let me see you again, or I’ll curse you out every single time!”
Chen Qingdi’s expression suddenly became one of dejection. He gently laid Li Shuang’Er back on her pillow, then backed away toward the door.
“Stop your act! I’m the one who harmed your wife. You think you could fall in love with me? Just get the hell out!”
Chen Qingdi sighed.
“You should know that worldly conventions don’t apply to us successors of the Ancient Martial Realm. You harmed my wife, so it’s only right and just that you compensate me with yourself!”
“In your dreams! Get out! I don’t want to see you again.”
An immense sorrow suddenly flashed in Chen Qingdi’s eyes.
“Since Shuang’Er doesn’t want to see me, I’ll leave. I won’t bother you again.”
A sarcastic smile touched the corners of Shuang’Er’s lips.
“Burning newspapers at a grave—who do you think you’re fooling, a ghost? This lady knows full well that you could fall for the White Bone Spirit before you’d ever fall for me. So just get out, and don’t you ever come back!”
Chen Qingdi repeated the instructions he had given to Gu Shuang’Er, reminding her about some daily necessities, and then decisively pulled the door shut.
