Chapter 348: Sister Assassins

Worried about Shen Mingyue’s safety, Chen Qingdi rushed to her hospital room, only to find her unconscious on the bed. He carefully checked her pulse but couldn’t find anything abnormal.

He then checked under her eyelids and examined her tongue, but still found nothing out of the ordinary.

She just wouldn’t wake up, no matter what he did.

Greatly shocked, he quickly called Chen Yuan over.

“Tell me exactly what happened.”

Chen Yuan was startled and quickly explained.

“Two women showed up just now. One of them engaged me in a fight while the other took the opportunity to rush into the room when I wasn’t looking.

By the time I chased her into the room, she had already retreated, and the two of them just up and left.

And ever since then, she’s been asleep. I don’t know why she won’t wake up.”

‘There has to be a reason,’ Chen Qingdi thought. ‘The intruder didn’t do anything to physically harm Mingyue, so why is she like this?’

Feeling that there was no time to waste, he called the hospital director and had him pull up the recent surveillance footage.

Soon, they found footage of the woman entering the room. Even though Chen Yuan had followed her in immediately, the woman had still made a motion as if scattering something.

The surveillance footage was crystal clear. With a flick of her wrist, a cloud of bright purple mist was released into the canopy over Shen Mingyue’s bed.

Chen Qingdi was stunned. Now he understood: Shen Mingyue had been struck by some strange poison. He just didn’t know if it would affect the baby.

Unsettled, he checked Shen Mingyue’s pulse again and found that both she and the baby seemed perfectly fine.

It seemed the drug’s only side effect was inducing a deep sleep.

Chen Qingdi then had all the hospital’s surveillance footage pulled, wanting to see exactly where the woman had entered and exited.

The results came in quickly. The woman had entered through the hospital’s back entrance.

They investigated the footage from the streets near the back entrance.

Thanks to his status, the results came quickly. The woman had gotten into a car on Guanghui Road, several miles away.

He then called the head of the drone division at Mingyue Group.

“Deploy the civilian photography drone swarm you’ve been developing. I want a 24/7 scan of the entire Guanghui Garden complex. See if that woman is still in the area.”

After giving these orders, Chen Qingdi returned to his seat and opened his phone, using it to monitor every movement in the complex in real time.

These bee-swarm drones didn’t just capture individual images. Instead, they aggregated all the footage in a central computer, where an advanced algorithm stitched it all together into a single, panoramic surveillance feed of the entire complex.

A short while later, the two suspicious women were spotted. They had changed their clothes, but a sharp-eyed analyst noticed something off about their subtle mannerisms. Chen Qingdi immediately ordered the division head to have the drone swarm track the women and see where they were headed.

It turned out the two women went into Building Four. The moment one of them opened the door, several drones quietly slipped in behind them.

These drones were tiny—even smaller than a toy bamboo-copter.

They were about the size of a hummingbird, small enough to go unnoticed.

Furthermore, they were equipped with newly developed micro-cameras.

Their operational time was short, but the beauty of the system was its low cost and ability to maintain full-coverage surveillance.

This small part of the swarm that had gone inside transmitted all its footage to Chen Qingdi in real time.

Before long, Chen Qingdi had confirmed their location: Building Four, Apartment 703.

He quickly made his way to the complex. After using some technical means to get past the security door, he went up to the seventh floor.

He rang the doorbell and sensed someone peeking at him through the peephole.

He said in a low voice, “Delivery! I’ve got your food and a special offer—the more you order, the more you get!”

A moment later, the door opened. Chen Qingdi instantly slipped inside and bolted the door behind him.

The two young women stared at him warily.

“You’re breaking and entering! I’m warning you, don’t try anything funny. I’ll make sure you rot in prison for this!”

Chen Qingdi strode toward them, a smirk on his face. “And here I was, thinking I’d be facing some masters. Turns out it’s just a pair of pretty sisters. I approve!”

He might have approved, but the sisters certainly didn’t. They each produced a dagger, one attacking his front and the other his back.

Their technique was so decisive, it was worthy of a veteran assassin.

They were fast, but Chen Qingdi was faster. With a single twist, he dodged both daggers, even managing to give one of the women a playful pinch on the chin as he passed.

“Such pretty things, yet you chose to be thieves. How about you come home with me and be my two cute little maids instead?”

Humiliated and enraged, the two women raised their daggers and lunged at him again. Chen Qingdi unleashed his Flying Dragon Fist, striking their dagger-wielding wrists from a distance.

The two women cried out as their grips loosened involuntarily. Both daggers clattered to the floor, and Chen Qingdi promptly pinned them under his feet.

“Ladies, ganging up on me like that… you have no martial honor.”

One of the women sneered.

“We sisters fight as one! Whether it’s one man or an entire army, we face them together!”

“What about an army of four hundred million, and then four hundred million more? You’ll take them on together too?”

He thought it was a clever retort, but the sisters just stared at him blankly.

“Are you crazy? What are you even talking about?”

“Ah, well. Since there are two of you, you can just split it. Two hundred million each. Think you can handle that?”

The slightly more mature-looking of the two finally understood his meaning. “You’re shameless!” she shrieked, lunging at him and clawing for his face with her signature move, the Turtle Fist.

Before she could reach him, Chen Qingdi planted a kick squarely on her lower stomach.

To his surprise, as the first woman fell, the other one let out a pained cry and collapsed right along with her. Their expressions of agony were nearly identical.

“You two really are twins, aren’t you? You don’t just look alike; you even make the same expressions. Truly a premium pair!”

He suddenly noticed them both crawling toward their fallen daggers. Chen Qingdi crouched down, grabbing each of them by an outstretched wrist.

“It’s bad luck for little girls to play with knives. I’ll be confiscating these.”

“You scoundrel! Give them back!”

Chen Qingdi let out a low chuckle. “Can’t do that. I’m planning to use these to learn how to shave heads. Once I get the hang of it, I’ll give you both a buzz cut. You can consider it a way to support my new hobby!”
