And so, he decided to call his wife and tell her the good news.

“Honey, I’m coming home tonight. I got you a new gift,” Captain Liu said with a smile.

“What kind of gift?” his wife asked curiously.

“Even the captain of an investigation team has time to get me a gift?”

“Of course I do. And you’ll love it,” Captain Liu said mysteriously. “Just you wait.”

“Oh, stop messing with me,” his wife said dismissively.

“You, getting me a gift? Don’t lie to me.”

“I really did get you a gift!” Captain Liu said urgently. “You’ll love it.”

“Alright, I’ll be waiting to see it,” his wife said coolly.

Captain Liu hung up the phone, his heart filled with anticipation.

He knew his wife was a proud woman. If she saw the gift he had for her, she would be absolutely thrilled. He decided to give her a proper surprise when he got home.

That evening, Captain Liu returned home. He took out the gift from Chen Qingdi and handed it to his wife.

When his wife saw the diamond and gold bracelet in the box, she gasped.

“What a beautiful diamond and gold bracelet!” his wife said, delighted. “Who gave this to you?”

“Chen Qingdi gave it to me,” Captain Liu replied.

“Chen Qingdi?” his wife asked, puzzled. “Why would he give you such an expensive gift?”

“I’m not sure either,” Captain Liu said, shaking his head. “Maybe it’s to thank me for helping him.”

“This Chen Qingdi is certainly thoughtful,” his wife said with a smile. “To part with such an expensive gift.”

“I know. I never expected him to give me such a valuable gift,” Captain Liu remarked. “But since I’ve accepted it, we should just treasure it.”

“Yes, we should treasure this friendship,” his wife agreed.

Qian Laoliu, Li Feng, and Chen Yuan stood in Chen Qingdi’s office, their faces etched with confusion. They looked at Chen Qingdi, the chairman of the Mingyue Group, who had always been their pillar of support. But at this moment, he seemed different.

“Chairman, shouldn’t we be confronting the investigation team head-on?” Qian Laoliu asked tentatively.

Chen Qingdi smiled faintly and shook his head. He looked at Qian Laoliu as if he were looking at a naive child. “Liu, it’s not that simple.”

“But the Mingyue Group is no pushover. Why are we giving them gifts and groveling like this?” Li Feng couldn’t help but interject.

Chen Qingdi smiled wryly. “Don’t you all understand yet? Captain Liu accepted our gift, which means he owes us a favor. For the foreseeable future, the investigation team won’t be coming around to cause trouble for the Mingyue Group.”

“Why is that?” Chen Yuan asked, confused.

“Because Captain Liu accepted our gift. How could he possibly have the nerve to come bother us again? It’s an unwritten rule. We give him a gift, and he leaves us alone.”

“But isn’t that risky?” Qian Laoliu asked with concern.

“There are risks, but this is our best option right now. If we were to confront the investigation team, we might stir up even bigger problems. Our goal at the moment is to get the company back to normal operations, not to court unnecessary trouble.”

Chen Qingdi’s words sent the three men into deep thought. They looked at their chairman with a burgeoning sense of admiration. Chen Qingdi always managed to see to the heart of a problem and make the most appropriate decision.

In the days that followed, just as Chen Qingdi had predicted, the investigation team did not return to bother the Mingyue Group. The company settled back into its usual peace, and the employees resumed their work.

Watching all of this unfold, Qian Laoliu and the other two felt a deep sense of relief. They understood that Chen Qingdi’s decision had been correct, and they admired his wisdom and courage all the more.

However, the matter was far from over. As time went on, the Mingyue Group’s business gradually returned to normal. And just then, a new challenge presented itself.

One evening, the senior executives of the Mingyue Group gathered to discuss the company’s future development. Chen Qingdi sat at the head of the table, his gaze sweeping over the others with determination. “We need a new strategy to respond to the changing market.”

“What kind of strategy?” Qian Laoliu asked curiously.

“We’re going to conduct a comprehensive market analysis, understand customer needs and our competitors’ situation, and then formulate a more precise marketing strategy.”

“That’s a good idea, but we don’t have enough people to accomplish that,” Li Feng said, concerned.

“Don’t worry, I’ve already found a suitable candidate,” Chen Qingdi said with a smile.

“Who is it?” everyone asked in unison.

“Captain Liu,” Chen Qingdi answered.

The answer surprised everyone. They hadn’t expected that Captain Liu would be willing to help the Mingyue Group. This, however, only deepened their admiration for Chen Qingdi’s foresight and wisdom.

In the days that followed, Captain Liu led a professional team in conducting in-depth market research. They analyzed customer needs and the competition, developing a precise marketing strategy for the Mingyue Group.

In the chairman’s office of the Mingyue Group, Chen Qingdi stood by the window, gazing out at the distant cityscape. His face was etched with a hint of fatigue, but his eyes revealed a firm resolve.

“Chairman, you haven’t been home for several days. Miss Shen has been waiting for you,” his assistant, Yang, reminded him softly.

Chen Qingdi frowned slightly. It was true; he hadn’t been home in a long time. Ever since the company was founded, he had thrown himself completely into his work, leaving little time to spend with his family.

“You’re right. I haven’t seen Miss Shen in a while, either.” He sighed softly. “Get ready. We’re going home.”

The car sped out of the company gates, heading for home. Chen Qingdi’s anticipation grew, and he imagined Shen Mingyue waiting for him.

Arriving at his front door, Chen Qingdi eagerly pushed it open. A familiar, warm scent washed over him. He saw Shen Mingyue sitting on the living room sofa, absorbed in a book.

“Mingyue!” he called out.

Shen Mingyue looked up, and a smile of pleasant surprise lit up her face when she saw Chen Qingdi. She set down her book, stood, and walked toward him.

“You’re finally back,” she said with a smile. “I’ve missed you.”

Chen Qingdi walked over and gently embraced her. “I’ve missed you, too,” he said in a low voice.

They embraced for a moment before Shen Mingyue looked up, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “But you have been neglecting your family for your work, haven’t you?” she said with a laugh.
