Peasant Woman's Decreed Life as a Wife

Chapter 1628: 1625: Not Back Yet

Chapter 1628: Chapter 1625: Not Back Yet

Ye Muyu couldn’t help but reach out and twist his arm, but years of martial arts training had left his body full of muscles, and she couldn’t exert any force, not budging him at all.

Frustrated, she couldn’t help grinding her teeth, “Hmm, get up.”

Her voice came out unexpectedly hoarse, and she immediately shut her mouth, unwilling to make a sound. She only remembered that too much cold air had rushed into her throat, causing her voice to become hoarse after so many calls.

“Cough, cough…” She lightly coughed, feeling a bit of discomfort in her throat, like the precursor of a cold, which made her even less inclined to pay attention to the culprit behind her.

Chu Heng reached out to turn her face towards him, his fingers gently touching her lips, suppressing the urge to intervene further, and said, “Open up, let me see your throat.”

“Shut up, who’s going to show you.” Ye Muyu spoke again, feeling more uncomfortable, her once pleasant voice half destroyed.

“Are you sick?” Chu Heng frowned, the smile on his face vanished. He quickly got up, casually draped an outer garment, and walked out of the inner room, faintly hearing him instructing the servants.

Ye Muyu didn’t want to deal with him, so she hid in the washroom to freshen up.

She had just tidied up halfway when she heard Chu Heng’s voice from outside, “Ah Yu, I’ve had the servants make some throat-soothing soup, have some while it’s hot after you’re done washing.”

Ye Muyu paused her movements, not wanting to respond.

Chun Xing was handing her some soap for washing and said with some concern, “Lady, did you catch a cold yesterday? Otherwise, why is your voice so hoarse?”

Su Mei paused while brushing her hair, catching a glimpse of marks suddenly revealed under the lady’s collar. She quickly shut her mouth, not saying anything, though she had already guessed the reason in her heart, not surprised in the slightest, just feeling a bit distressed for the lady, blaming the master for exerting too much energy, otherwise, the lady’s voice wouldn’t be hoarse.

Ye Muyu was nervously looking for an excuse, and upon hearing Chun Xing’s words, felt it was fitting. She lightly coughed and nodded, “Hmm, I wasn’t feeling well yesterday, probably caught a chill last night, which is why my throat is sore.”

“Then it’s better to take medicine for a cold. Sometimes when I catch a cold, my throat also hurts terribly.” Chun Xing genuinely suggested, only slightly puzzled that the master’s preparation wasn’t suitable for the lady, but didn’t think further about it.

Ye Muyu nodded randomly, fearing she’d continue questioning and expose it, quickly changing the subject, “Didn’t Shopkeeper Tang say he could come on the fifteenth? Is there any news?”

“No, the gatekeeper hasn’t delivered any message.” Chun Xing earnestly shook her head.

Passing a towel for her to dry her hands.

Su Mei finished brushing her hair and asked, “Lady, do you need the servant girl to contact Zhu San and the others?”

“Hmm, you may.”

Using existing contacts whenever possible, Ye Muyu wanted to know where Tang Dongfeng was.

Once the fifteenth passed, the hustle and bustle wouldn’t disappear; on the contrary, the business at the clothing store was just beginning.

She needed a competent assistant to help.

Ye Muyu finished tidying up and came out of the inner room, seeing breakfast already laid on the table, a bowl of small dumplings, a few dishes of side vegetables, and a bowl of vegetable porridge.

Though simple, the breakfast was prepared using high-end cooking techniques.

Chu Heng saw her come out and quickly walked over, wearing a smile of apology, “Ah Yu, come on, sit down first.”

“Your favorite dumplings, do you want chili oil?”

Ye Muyu glanced at him, spotting a row of tiny teeth marks on his wrist, pink and pale, not deep, now leaving only a faint mark.
