Chapter 2633: Chapter 2634: Return to Tianyun (200)

The beloved woman was actually poisoned, and by his legitimate wife at that—Tao Chengyin was both unable to accept it and hated Mrs. Cao so much his teeth gnashed: "That venomous woman!"

Taoming Ye had long guessed things would turn out this way and wasn’t surprised by the Minister of Justice’s words. He was just pleased to see his father, Tao Chengyin, recognizing Mrs. Cao’s true face in his heart.

For so long, wasn’t he just waiting for this day?

The Minister of Justice continued, "This time, Mrs. Cao poisoned so fiercely, intent on killing the Princess and the Prince Consort. According to the confessions of Manjuan and Manhe, Mrs. Cao wanted revenge for her son, Taoming Hai."

"This is outrageous!" Su Muchen was enraged. "Taoming Hai was beheaded for attempting to murder the Princess—he got what he deserved! What is she avenging?"

An Jing said, "Such malice, unworthy of a human being."

Tao Chengyin knelt on the ground, tears streaming down his face, "First my unfilial son, Mingye, plotted against the Princess and the Prince Consort, and now my wife tries to murder them again. I cannot escape blame—I plead with the King and the Emperor to punish me."

This person was also Su Xing’s father-in-law, so Su Muchen couldn’t make the decision directly; instead, he looked to Su Changyi.

Su Xing had already spoken to Su Changyi about this, so Su Changyi merely said indifferently, "You are indeed not without blame. You shall be penalized with three years’ salary and confined to home for reflection for three months. As for your Five Clans, Xin’er has already pleaded with me on their behalf, so they shall not be exterminated. But that venomous woman is truly too wicked; keeping her around would only tarnish your name. You should sever ties with her."

"Thank the King and the Emperor for their mercy; thank the King and the Emperor for their mercy." Not needing to face death, Tao Chengyin was first tearfully grateful for the imperial mercy and then hastily said, "I will return and immediately write a letter of dismissal to her!"

Su Changyi nodded and then continued, "As for Mrs. Cao and those two maidservants who abetted her, let Xin’er handle them."

Su Xing immediately said, "Both maidservants should be beheaded, and Mrs. Cao—I want her torn limb from limb!"

Mrs. Cao not only killed her husband’s mother but also caused her husband’s long-term poor health, and because Mrs. Cao poisoned him, she had to abort their child—even if she hadn’t, it would have been a stillbirth...

All these grudges combined—if Mrs. Cao isn’t torn limb from limb, her heart’s hatred cannot be appeased!

Su Changyi nodded again and then said to the Minister of Justice, "The Princess has made her decision; these matters will be handed over to you."

The Minister of Justice immediately complied, "I will follow these orders!"

Upon leaving the main hall, Tao Chengyin choked up, clutching Taoming Ye’s hand, tears streaming down his old face, "Ye’er, it’s your father who wronged you, marrying such a venomous woman, causing your poor health. I really thought you were just physically weak before, but now I know you were poisoned. And your mother was also killed by this venomous woman, I really am..."

"Father, other people’s malice is their concern, not yours. Don’t take all the blame on yourself. Furthermore, I was indeed poisoned, but Second Prince Brother already has a way to treat me; I will recover soon." Taoming Ye sincerely comforted.

Hearing that Taoming Ye would recover, Tao Chengyin was delighted, "Really?"

"Yes, it’s true. If you don’t believe me, you can turn around and ask Prince Xing to see if what I said is true."

"Father believes you, father believes you," Tao Chengyin repeatedly said, "Your father is just so happy. Your health—father has always been distressed about it. Fortunately, it can be cured. In the future, when I meet your mother in the afterlife, I will have something to say."
