Chapter 586: Miranda Is Back

Chapter 586: 586: Miranda Is Back

Ethan frowned slightly and lifted his head while hearing hurried footsteps along with several surprised voices.

"What happened outside?" he muttered softly.

Before anyone could answer, a familiar cheerful voice suddenly rang out from the entrance.

"Move aside already!"

"You all are blocking the way!"

The next moment a figure rushed into the courtyard at full speed and jumped into Ethan’s embrace.

Ethan’s eyes widened slightly.

"Miranda?" he called out in surprise.

And sure enough...

The person standing there was none other than his daughter Miranda.

Her long hair swayed messily behind her while dust covered parts of her cloak, and although she looked tired from traveling, her eyes were still full of energy.

The moment she saw Ethan, her face immediately brightened.

"Father!" she shouted happily.

Without any hesitation, she rushed forward directly toward him.

Ethan barely had enough time to stand properly before Miranda jumped straight at him.

BANG!

Ethan instinctively caught her, and the force even pushed him half a step backward while Miranda wrapped both arms tightly around his neck and laughed brightly.

"Hahaha! I am finally back!" she said excitedly.

Ethan looked at her helplessly for a moment before a faint smile slowly appeared on his face.

"You crazy girl..." he muttered.

"You suddenly disappear for years and then return like this."

Miranda immediately puffed her cheeks after hearing that.

"I was training seriously!" she protested loudly.

"And Master Zach kept dragging me everywhere!"

Ethan raised one eyebrow slightly.

"Oh?" he replied calmly.

"So now you are blaming your poor master?"

Miranda coughed awkwardly and immediately looked away.

"That... that is not important," she mumbled softly.

Then she quickly looked back at Ethan again while carefully observing him from head to toe.

The cheerful look on her face slowly faded a little.

"Father," she spoke softly.

"You look tired."

Ethan paused briefly after hearing that, but then he smiled faintly again.

"I am fine," he replied calmly.

Miranda narrowed her eyes immediately as if she did not believe a single word.

"You always say that," she complained.

While the two continued talking, the others inside the estate slowly gathered after hearing the noise outside, and the moment they realized Miranda had returned, surprise immediately spread across their faces.

"Miranda?!"

"When did you return?!"

"You little brat finally remembered home?"

The atmosphere that had remained heavy and tense for days suddenly became much livelier because of her sudden appearance.

Miranda laughed shamelessly while greeting everyone one after another, and even Sophia, who had been furious recently because of the imperial decree, softened immediately after seeing her daughter return safely.

The next moment, Sophia rushed forward and grabbed Miranda tightly before pulling her into a fierce embrace.

"Ohhhh my lovely daughter!" Sophia cried loudly while hugging her.

"I wonder what kind of life you lived to become so haggard... uuuuuu..."

Sophia’s eyes quickly turned red while she held Miranda’s face carefully and kept examining her repeatedly as if searching for injuries.

Miranda immediately became helpless.

"Mother... I am fine," she said awkwardly.

But Sophia completely ignored that and continued fussing over her while tears rolled down her face.

Behind them, Rina quietly chuckled while watching the scene unfold.

However, unlike Sophia, Rina noticed something else.

A faint unease lingered around Miranda.

It was subtle.

But it was there.

The aura around her felt different from before, and there was now a faint sharpness hidden within her movements that resembled battle-hardened experts.

From the looks of it, Miranda had clearly gone through quite a few dangerous experiences during these years.

Rina’s eyes softened slightly after realizing that.

Meanwhile, Ethan quietly stood there while watching the lively scene before him, and for the first time in a very long while, the tension pressing heavily against his chest eased just a little.

At least...

For this brief moment...

Everyone here was still together safely.

But even while thinking that, another thought quietly appeared in Ethan’s mind.

His other children.

The ones currently fighting on the battlefield.

Although they regularly sent letters back home and assured him that they were safe, the unease inside Ethan’s heart still refused to disappear completely.

Every single day, he worried whether something unexpected might happen to them.

Whether they would survive another battle.

Whether they would safely return home again.

In fact, if not for his children...

Ethan would never have considered revealing anything about the potion at all.

But now...He wanted this war to end as quickly as possible.

End it completely.

So that his children could finally return home safely and live peacefully once again.

......

Far away from the peaceful atmosphere of the Blanks estate, the situation on the frontlines was completely different, and the land itself looked scarred by endless warfare while smoke continuously rose toward the sky.

The once green plains had long turned dark and broken because of constant battles, and deep craters covered the ground while the smell of blood lingered heavily in the air.

Explosions echoed from the distance while soldiers shouted constantly across the battlefield.

And every single day...

People died.

At the center of one battlefield, a group of young figures moved swiftly through the chaos while leading soldiers forward against the Beastman forces.

Among them, the children of Blanks stood prominently.

"Left side! Push them back before they regroup!" Arnold shouted loudly while raising his sword high.

His armor was stained with blood and dust, but his eyes remained steady while a sharp aura burst around him.

BOOM!

He swung his sword downward, and a powerful arc of energy exploded outward while blasting away several Beastmen charging toward their position.

Bodies were thrown backward violently while the ground cracked under the pressure.

Behind him, soldiers immediately surged forward after seeing the opening.

"Advance!"

"Push them back!"

The battlefield erupted once more as both sides clashed brutally.

Not far away, Sally stood atop a broken stone structure while calmly chanting spells under her breath, and several glowing magic circles appeared around her before dozens of fire spears shot toward the enemy lines.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

The fire spears rained down continuously and exploded among the Beastmen ranks while flames spread violently across the battlefield.

"AAARGHH!"

"Water mages! Stop the fire!"
