Chapter 498:Throw Wales Into Lava Pool
Chapter 498:Throw Wales Into Lava Pool
…A dragon.”
The creature was colossal, far beyond anything they had prepared for, and even in its resting state, it radiated an overwhelming power that caused the air itself to tremble.
Wales swallowed as he stared at it, his voice barely rising above a whisper, yet carrying undeniable certainty.
“…We found it.”
Randall blinked once, then rubbed his eyes as if trying to confirm what he was seeing.
“It’s really a dragon?” he muttered, still unable to believe it.
Wales stood frozen, his gaze locked onto the majestic creature. Awe and shock filled his expression as he took in its sheer size and presence.
Then he turned and looked at Randall.
“Isn’t father searching for it?”
Randall nodded slowly.
“Yes… he was looking for the dragon.”
Wales took a deep breath, then reached into his robe and pulled out a crystal communicator ball.
“We should inform him,” he said, his voice steady despite the tension.
He held the crystal tightly, preparing to activate it while both of them kept their eyes on the sleeping dragon.
…..
Ethan stood on the wide training grounds of Blanks, his arms folded across his chest while his sharp eyes moved across the field. Dozens of soldiers were training in formation, their movements synchronized as they practiced sword drills and coordinated attacks.
The sound of metal clashing echoed through the air.
Joel stood beside him, giving occasional instructions while observing the soldiers closely.
“Your stance is off,” Joel shouted toward a group. “Adjust your footing or you will lose balance in real combat.”
Ethan nodded slightly, watching everything in silence. His presence alone created pressure, and the soldiers trained even harder under his gaze.
A few moments later, Ethan raised his hand slightly.
“Again,” he said calmly.
The soldiers immediately reset and repeated the sequence, their movements sharper this time.
Joel glanced at Ethan and spoke, “They are improving fast.”
Ethan gave a small nod.
“They have to.”
Just then..
A faint glow appeared near Ethan.
The crystal communicator in his hand began to vibrate.
Ethan’s expression changed slightly. He lifted it immediately.
The moment he activated it, Randall’s voice came through.
“My Lord…”
Ethan focused, and the image formed inside the crystal.
The moment he saw it,his eyes lit up.
A massive dragon lay inside a lava pool, its body glowing faintly as it breathed slowly.
Even through the projection, its presence felt overwhelming.
Ethan leaned slightly forward, his gaze sharp and excited.
“…A dragon,” he murmured.
Randall’s voice continued, explaining the situation briefly, but Ethan was already focused entirely on the image.
A faint excitement rose inside him.
“Wait… there… I am coming,” Ethan said quickly.
He was about to move.
His body leaned forward slightly, and his aura stirred as if he was ready to take off immediately.
But then he paused.Flying there would still take time.
His eyes narrowed slightly as a sudden idea formed in his mind.
Ethan turned his head slightly and spoke calmly.
“Is there a lava pool?”
On the other side, Randall blinked once before answering.
“Yes, there is, my Lord.”
Ethan nodded.
“Good.”
Then he spoke the next sentence as if it was the most normal thing.
“Then throw Wales on it.”
“…..”
For a moment, a deep and freezing silence spread across both sides.
There was a complete silence.
On the other side, Randall froze where he stood. The knights nearby stopped moving, and even the air itself felt heavy and still, as if everything had paused to process what had just been said.
Randall forced out a laugh, trying to break the tension.
“You are joking, right, my Lord… keke.”
“Of course not. I am serious,” Ethan’s voice came through the crystal, calm and steady, but it hit them like a hammer.
Then..
“Excuseeeee meeeee!”
Wales’ voice burst out from the crystal.
His face appeared suddenly, filled with shock and disbelief.
“Did you just say throw me into lava?” he shouted, his eyes wide.
Randall coughed lightly, clearly unsure how to handle this.
“My Lord… are you serious?”
Ethan did not change his expression.
“Yes.”
His answer was simple.
Wales looked like he had just been struck by lightning.
“Father… I am your son,” he said, his voice filled with disbelief.
Ethan nodded slightly.
“I know.”
“That is why you will survive.”
“…That does not make it better!” Wales shouted immediately, his voice cracking slightly.
Joel, who had been standing beside Ethan the entire time, slowly turned his head and looked at him with a complicated expression.
“…My Lord,” he said carefully.
“Are you sure about this?”
Ethan’s gaze remained fixed on the crystal.
“Yes.”
His answer was firm.
“But why?” Randall asked, still unable to understand.
Ethan spoke calmly.
“Don’t worry… I have a plan. Just follow it. Also, make sure not to take beasts with you, or else I can’t be sure to save them.”
His tone turned slightly serious at the end.
….
On the other side, Wales froze for a moment. The small beasts around him made faint anxious sounds, but he gently calmed them with his hands.
He took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling slowly.
His father would not kill him.
At least… he hoped so.
But just as he was gathering his resolve, he noticed something.Randall’s arms were slowly inching toward him.
Wales’ eyes widened.
“Stop… Grandpa, I can jump myself. You don’t need to play your part,” he said quickly, stepping back.
Randall coughed awkwardly.
“I thought that might be hard, but if I throw you, then you can blame me,” he said with a strange expression, as if he was not entirely against the idea.
Wales looked at him speechlessly for a moment. Then he turned and walked toward the edge of the cliff.
The lava pool below glowed fiercely, its heat rising in waves that distorted the air. Even standing at the edge made his skin feel like it was burning.
The small beasts around him shrieked softly, clearly unwilling to let him go.
Wales gently touched them.
“Shhh… don’t worry… everything will be fine,” he said quietly.
He closed his eyes for a brief moment and stepped forward.
SWISHH!
His body dropped instantly, falling straight down toward the lava.
The wind rushed past his ears as his speed increased. The heat rose rapidly, pressing against his skin like a burning wall.
Wales clenched his teeth.
He wanted to scream.
But he forced himself to stay silent, biting down on his lip and swallowing the fear rising in his throat.
‘Father… where are you… I am going to die…’ he screamed inside his mind.
Above, the knights watched in horror.
Their bodies stiffened, and some of them instinctively stepped forward as if they wanted to stop it, but it was already too late.
Wales’ body fell closer and closer to the lava.
The distance shrank quickly.
The heat intensified to the point that even from above, it felt unbearable.
Some of the knights closed their eyes.
They could not bear to watch.
Just as his body was about to touch the surface.
SWISHH!
A blurry figure appeared.
So fast that it almost looked like a distortion in space.A hand shot out and grabbed Wales mid-air.
Everything stopped and the falling momentum vanished instantly.
Wales’ eyes widened as he felt a firm grip around him.
A calm voice sounded beside him.
“I am here.”
Wales turned his head slightly and saw Ethan.
