Chapter 536: Great Discovery! Shocking the World!
The drone followed Ning Fei closely.
The screen was pitch black, making it nearly impossible to see anything.
Only the moving outline of Ning Fei could be made out.
Yet, even for such a pitch-black live-stream room, the number of concurrent viewers had already broken the world record.
According to backend statistics, over 40 million people in Huaxia were watching at the same time, with another 60 million viewers from other countries combined.
Ning Fei had created an impossible statistic.
When new viewers entered Ning Fei's Live-stream Room, they were completely bewildered.
"Holy shit, this live-stream room has tens of millions in popularity, but why is it pitch black inside? I can't see anything."
"Am I blind?"
"Is everyone watching something I can't see?"After reading the bullet comments and getting caught up, the newcomers finally understood that the streamer was sneaking into the altar of a primitive tribe late at night.
To be discovered meant certain death.
It was nothing short of thrilling.
Ning Fei had already groped his way to the outskirts of the tribe.
He looked inside, then whispered:
"There are no sentries inside the tribe, probably because they've always been the only ones on this island. There is no one else."
"However, they've clearly set up some traps around the perimeter, like animal traps and deep pits, to prevent wild beasts from running into the tribe at night."
"There's also a simple fence on the outside. Although it's crudely made, it serves its purpose."
Ning Fei approached the edge of the tribe and listened carefully to the movements inside.
The only sounds within were the wind and the snoring of the people.
To be honest, the people of this primitive tribe snored incredibly loudly in their sleep.
The noise rose and fell, sounding like a meeting of tractors.
The viewers, however, were extremely nervous, especially the exploration enthusiasts from all over the world.
They had all heard of what kind of place Benson Island was. On one hand, the Indian Government forbade ordinary people from approaching it. On the other hand, the primitive inhabitants on the island killed anyone they saw on sight.
Exploration enthusiasts loved to conquer dangerous places, but the human environment of North Sentinel Island kept everyone at bay.
Everyone who had gone there had died.
The indigenous tribe of Benson Island was also known as the Death Tribe.
And now, an explorer from Huaxia was sneaking into the Death Tribe late at night, aiming straight for their altar.
Did he really have a death wish?
Just then, the viewers watched as Ning Fei leaped up, vaulting over the nearby fence and into the tribe.
He made almost no sound. Even in the pitch darkness, everyone could sense the elegance of his movements.
"Did he get in?"
"He's in!"
"So badass! Just watching makes me so nervous."
"I don't even dare to speak loudly right now. My family keeps asking what's wrong with me."
"Same here. I'm terrified of waking up these tribesmen."
Through the dark lens of the live-stream, treehouses could be seen in the surroundings. Ning Fei had officially entered the indigenous tribe.
The lighting was dim, but the surroundings were still somewhat visible.
Ning Fei began to grope his way forward when, suddenly, a tribesman appeared right in front of him!
"Holy shit!"
The viewers jumped in fright, unable to stop themselves from swearing out loud.
The sight was truly terrifying.
Looking closely, they realized the tribesman was actually half-sitting on the ground, fast asleep. Because his face was covered in tattoos, it made him look as if his eyes were wide open.
Ning Fei slipped past him and continued forward, without making the slightest sound.
For the first time, the live-stream room was completely silent.
There was no barking from Little Dog, no roaring from the ocean waves, and Ning Fei didn't speak.
Everyone was on edge.
But Ning Fei's movements remained feather-light. Before long, he successfully slipped through the tribe and stepped onto the altar.
"He finally made it through!"
"I saw a few dark shadows earlier. It looked like the tribesmen were staring right at me. That was terrifying!"
"With skills like that, I'd believe it if you told me Ning Guan master was the reincarnation of a master thief!"
Ning Fei had arrived at the altar.
Due to years of disrepair, the patterns on the altar had become somewhat blurred, and weeds and vines grew around it.
"This is the sun, the moon, and the stars," Ning Fei whispered, looking at the faded patterns on the ground.
"The Maya Civilization studied the laws of the sun and moon, and they were also masters of the art of carving. They carved the sun, moon, and stars onto this altar. Even after all these years, these patterns can still be seen."
Now that he was at the altar, he was some distance away from the tribe, so speaking wouldn't be an issue.
The viewers, however, were bewildered.
"How did Ning Guan master recognize the sun, moon, and stars? All I see are a bunch of weird shapes."
"Is this place really from the Maya Civilization?"
"A great discovery! Another great discovery!"
"Calling it now, this is probably another ruins site!"
Ning Fei's gaze fell on the massive stone head sculpture deep within the altar.
He walked toward it.
The sculpture was very tall, nearly three meters high, yet the carving technique was exquisitely detailed. The mottled marks on the stone revealed that it had endured the ravages of time.
"From the moment I entered the tribe and all the way here, I haven't seen any trace of stone carving among the primitive tribe."
"In other words, the people here don't understand the art of carving."
"Yet this altar and this stone head sculpture are both the product of ancient stone-carving craftsmanship."
"It seems my guess was correct. An ancient civilization truly did exist here."
Ning Fei squatted down to inspect it.
He saw that the very bottom of the stone sculpture wasn't planted into the grassy earth, but was connected to a massive stone slab as a single piece.
The stone slab was buried in the dirt, but some traces of it could still be seen.
Ning Fei crouched low, brushed aside some of the dirt covering the stone slab, and knocked firmly against it.
"Thud, thud!"
The sound was deep and muffled.
"It's hollow! There's something underneath."
"The entrance really is here."
Ning Fei said softly.
The viewers stared at the live-stream feed, a wave of excitement washing over them.
"Ning Guan master found something!"
"No way, the area beneath the primitive tribe's altar is hollow?"
"This altar clearly wasn't left behind by the primitive tribe. It's highly likely it was built by the mysterious Maya."
"What exactly is Maya? Back in 2012, that doomsday prophecy had everyone panicking."
"That prophecy was proven fake, just something people made up and spread around. But the Maya Civilization was indeed a highly developed civilization that left behind many pyramids. As for why they suddenly disappeared, no one knows."
"Does Ning Guan master mean that a long time ago, the Maya people came to this island and built an altar?"
"It's probably more than just a simple altar."
Everyone engaged in a flurry of discussion.
At that moment, they saw Ning Fei wrap both of his arms around the stone head sculpture.
Seeing this, the viewers were stunned.
What was he doing?
That stone sculpture looked like it weighed at least a ton, and it was connected to a stone slab buried in the earth.
The next second, under everyone's shocked gazes, Ning Fei actually lifted the stone sculpture slightly and shifted it to the side.
Then, the viewers saw that where the stone slab had been moved, a pitch-black opening leading downward was revealed.
"There's a passage underneath!"
At that moment, everyone was left utterly dumbfounded by the sight.
Seeing the passage, Ning Fei also peered down.
There were stairs inside, spiraling down level by level.
From the looks of it, the staircase went very deep.
This was a massive engineering project.
Ning Fei pushed the stone sculpture a bit further aside, then stepped into the passage and began to head down.
"The craftsmanship of this underground cavern is excellent. These stones are all extremely hard rock, ensuring they won't decay for tens of thousands of years."
"The details on the stairs are also exceptionally well done."
He glanced at his watch.
The humidity, temperature, and oxygen levels were all within normal ranges.
He turned on a glow stick, and the drone followed him down, activating its lights to illuminate his surroundings.
Only then could the viewers clearly see the environment around him.
It was a descending staircase, so deep that the end was almost out of sight.
Both sides of the stairs were flanked by hard rock, upon which various patterns were carved. There were discs, the sun and the moon, and several bizarre symbols.
Witnessing this scene, viewers from all over the world were deeply shocked.
They knew that, once again, Ning Fei had made a great discovery!
