Chapter 393: Shouldering a Massive Tree? Isn't This Normal?
"I've walked into the Tropical Rainforest now. The most pressing matter is to find a place to settle down."
"The Tropical Rainforest is teeming with trees. It rains year-round here, the climate is warm, and it's home to countless venomous insects and fierce beasts."
"For instance, the black caiman, which can bite a human in half with a single snap, the fierce jaguar that excels at hunting, and the poison dart frog, which can easily kill a person with its toxins."
"It's incredibly dangerous here, but equally, it's the place closest to nature."
Ning Fei strolled through the Tropical Rainforest as he spoke to the viewers in his live stream.
Two drones followed him. One belonged to the Production Crew, and the other was his own.
The netizens of Huaxia watched Ning Fei intently.
This program's viewership ratings were absolutely terrifying.
The trees here had twisted, interlocking roots and grew exceptionally lush.
Ning Fei looked up. The canopy of leaves almost entirely blotted out the sky, allowing only dappled light and shadows to filter through."In the wild, the three most vital things are food, water, and shelter."
"We need to find a water source first."
Ning Fei added.
"Little falcon, go find us a river."
Little falcon took off at his command and flew back shortly after.
The island's water resources were remarkably abundant, with numerous rivers winding through it.
Ning Fei trekked through a stretch of forest and soon found a small river.
Right beside the riverbank was a large clearing, with the dense woods sitting further back.
"Great spot!"
Ning Fei's eyes lit up.
"I've been looking for a suitable place to build a shelter. The forest has too many hidden dangers, making it less than ideal."
"A clearing like this, on the other hand, is perfect for putting up a simple wooden cabin."
"It's about 9:00 AM right now. Let's see if I can finish building it before nightfall."
Hearing Ning Fei's words, the viewers in the live stream immediately started buzzing.
"Ning Guan master, isn't that a bit too rushed?"
"How are you going to build a cabin when there aren't any ready-made materials?"
"No wonder Ning Guan master wasn't worried about finding shelter—he already had a plan in mind!"
"How can you have a wilderness vacation without a cabin in the woods?"
Ning Fei then walked into the adjacent woods.
"It's a shame the Production Crew limited us to only five items."
"Between an axe, a machete, and a sword, I chose the latter."
"This sword has a live edge. It's incredibly sharp and can slice through iron like mud. While using it to chop trees is a bit of a waste, I don't really have a choice."
Sword in hand, Ning Fei leaped from the ground, drifting onto the tree with a weightless grace.
This was an uninhabited island, and the Production Crew had stated that as long as no wildfires were started, the trees could be logged.
Perched in the large tree, Ning Fei specifically looked for branches of an even thickness.
His movements were incredibly fluid.
The sharp sword in his hand was an item he had drawn from the lottery system. It was extraordinarily sharp, slicing through the wood without any effort.
Ning Fei even felt a wave of nostalgia, reminiscent of when he was a child swinging an iron sword to cut down tall grass.
He weaved through the dense canopy with rapid, agile movements. Every so often, a branch as thick as an arm would plummet to the ground.
The viewers erupted in awe.
"Ning Guan master is at it again!"
"Good lord, it really looks like they're filming a martial arts movie."
"I used to be a lumberjack, and trees are generally tough to chop down. You usually need a saw. Ning Guan master slicing off a thick branch with a single sword strike is just insane!"
"!"
The foreign viewers were just as astounded, sparking a heated discussion on their end.
"What is that Huaxia guy doing?"
"He's actually flying around in the trees!"
Ning Fei's viewer engagement continued to skyrocket.
At that same moment, Bear was educating his audience on edible foods. He had caught a large, fleshy white grub and was explaining that it was rich in protein, which made quite a few of the Huaxia viewers squirm.
Lord Ed was still trying to figure out how to start a fire with the limited resources at hand.
The other contestants were all searching for safe spots to take shelter.
Only Ning Fei was out here chopping down trees.
Every so often, he would gather up the freshly chopped wood and carry it over to the riverbank.
Just then, a massive fallen tree lying on the ground ahead caught Ning Fei's attention.
"What luck. To think there's a huge log right here; it would be perfect to drag back and turn into a bed."
Ning Fei muttered to himself.
Hearing his words, the viewers were completely taken aback.
"Ning Guan master, do you even hear yourself?"
"That log must weigh at least a ton!"
"With a trunk that thick? Are you really going to be able to drag it?"
At that exact moment, the Production Crew's main broadcast happened to be focused on Ning Fei.
His words were translated into English in real-time, allowing all the foreign viewers to hear him loud and clear.
Instantly, the international audience blew up!
"This Huaxia guy says he's going to drag that giant tree? Is he joking?"
"Can't he be a bit more realistic!"
"I've thought this guy was a joke from the very beginning. Who brings a spice box to a survival challenge?"
"I bet he's going to be the first one eliminated on the show."
But then, under everyone's shocked gazes, Ning Fei walked over to the fallen giant tree and forcefully engaged his core.
"Up!"
He gave a low shout.
In the very next second, Ning Fei hoisted the massive tree trunk—which was thicker than a grown man—directly onto his shoulder.
"Holy shit!"
"Oh my god!"
"This Huaxia guy, he actually hoisted that massive log!"
"Is he even human?"
"This is terrifying! What am I even looking at!"
The foreign viewers were in absolute shock!
They stared dumbfoundedly at Ning Fei, as if they were looking at a monster.
The netizens of Huaxia, however, seemed to have long grown accustomed to these kinds of scenes. They laughed and commented:
"Basic operation. Take a seat, everyone. No need to spam 6s."
"For Ning Guan master, isn't this completely normal?"
"Haha, you guys should see the comments from the foreigners on the international feed. It's hilarious."
"They've never seen anything like this before."
Just as the viewers had noted, the sight of Ning Fei walking through the Tropical Rainforest with a colossal log resting on his shoulder was overwhelmingly stunning.
Even the directing crew watching behind the scenes wore expressions of absolute bewilderment.
"Is this Huaxia guy kidding me right now?"
"That log has to be pushing a ton. How is he just carrying it on his shoulder like that?"
While everyone gossiped and marveled over it, Ning Fei didn't think much of it at all.
He had far more important tasks to handle.
The wood was more or less prepared.
Ning Fei walked back into the woods and pulled down a large number of vines from the trees. As he worked, he spoke to the viewers in his live stream:
"This vine is known as Devil's Vine. Its flexibility is fantastic, and it can bear an immense amount of tension, making it the perfect binding material for building a shelter."
"Since we're out in the wild without any proper carpentry tools, I'll have to make do with these."
Ning Fei gathered up an abundance of the vines.
As he searched for them, he remained incredibly cautious.
After all, any sort of hidden danger could be lurking in the Tropical Rainforest.
"We're still on the outskirts of the forest right now, so there aren't as many ferocious beasts or venomous creatures. The environment here is relatively manageable."
"The truly terrifying areas lie deep within the Tropical Rainforest."
As Ning Fei spoke, he set to work constructing the cabin.
He possessed the Architecture Mastery skill and was an expert in outdoor survival, so building a wooden shelter was hardly a challenge for him.
"First, I'll clear out an area, then lay down some logs to serve as a floor."
"Next, I'll map out the four corners of the cabin and bury a thick trunk into each spot. They have to be buried deep to ensure the structure stays sound."
Ning Fei got to work. Lacking proper shovels or tools, he used his sharp sword to whittle a thick piece of wood into a sharp spike, using it to dig into the ground and drive in the foundational posts.
Once all four corner posts were securely planted, the next step was to bind the cross-logs to form the four walls.
As he steadily worked, the distinct frame of a wooden cabin began to take shape before the viewers' eyes.
Watching this scene unfold, the foreign viewers could only stare in shock, completely at a loss for words.
