Chapter 963: Chapter 371: Unpredictable Future (Final Chapter Part 2)_3

The eldest aunt playfully scolded, “You kid, why are you standing at the kitchen door?”

Fan Wubing chuckled, “Well, it’s surely because I enjoy watching you cook so much, Auntie.”

The eldest aunt laughed heartily, “Such a sweet talker.” She suddenly remembered something, wiped her hands, and then took out her phone, eyes shining, “Oh right, Wubing. Look, what do you think of this girl?”

She brought out a photo.

Fan Wubing immediately knew what she was thinking. After taking a look at the photo, he chuckled and said,

“She’s great, very proper.”

The eldest aunt’s mood instantly brightened,

“Right! Let me tell you, this girl is excellent. She’s an only child, a master’s graduate from a top university, 1.65 meters tall, comes from a good family, both parents working in Yunbian…” The eldest aunt, like a rapid-fire cannon, rattled off the girl’s background details.

The implication was clear: Wubing, get to know her, meet her.

Fan Wubing knew his eldest aunt well, she just loved matchmaking. Anybody of age in the family had been “matched” by her at least once.

This time, Fan Wubing didn’t refuse like he used to. He smiled and said,

“She might not even be interested in me.”

“Nonsense. My grandnephew is so impressive; you even beat cancer! What can’t you handle? Just follow Auntie’s plan, and this girl will be head over heels for you.” The eldest aunt decided, “Wubing, just one word, if you like her, I’ll arrange everything immediately. This girl is in high demand, better grab the chance before someone else does.”

A major illness had made Fan Wubing cherish those around him much more.

Even though he wasn’t particularly enthused, seeing his aunt so excited, he agreed,

“Alright.”

The eldest aunt was overjoyed and made a phone call right in front of Fan Wubing. Within three minutes, everything was arranged. She flashed an “OK” hand gesture,

“This evening at six, Cyan Jade Manor Restaurant!”

“That fast!”

“Of course.”

Fan Wubing was genuinely impressed; in matchmaking, his eldest aunt was truly “a force to be reckoned with.”

After lunch,

The second aunt and the eldest aunt started prepping Fan Wubing, pouring all their life experience into teaching him how to win a girl’s heart. Fan Wubing enjoyed the process and went along with it.

He wasn’t particularly interested in the blind date, but seeing these two relatives, who had always been kind to him, so happy made him happy.

By five in the afternoon, after getting dressed up, the eldest aunt personally drove Fan Wubing.

On the way, she kept giving him advice.

Arriving at Cyan Jade Manor Restaurant, Fan Wubing sat at the reserved spot and began to wait.

He sat still, gazing absentmindedly at the bustling pedestrian street outside. Since the illness, he found little interest in things, rarely even looked at his phone, sensing something was missing but unable to pinpoint what he wanted.

He didn’t feel it was nihilism, just that he had forgotten what he needed to do.

Until a female voice reached his ears,

“Excuse me, are you Mr. Fan Wubing?”

Fan Wubing looked up; it was his blind date for today. He glanced at his watch — it was already 6:40. She was forty minutes late.

He stood up to show courtesy and smiled, “That’s me. You must be Miss Yu Leqing, please sit. Shall we order first?”

Yu Leqing displayed little emotion, sat down, and summoned the waiter to place an order.

After ordering, she got straight to the point,

“First of all, thank you for coming. I can tell you seem like a nice person. I won’t waste your time and I’ll be direct: I’m only here to fulfill a task. My parents are watching from nearby. If you don’t mind, let’s just play along. As a token of thanks, I’ll cover the bill. How does that sound to you?”

Fan Wubing smiled, “No problem.”

Yu Leqing was slightly stunned, surprised at how readily he agreed, thinking he might also be dealing with a family chore.

Fan Wubing asked, “What should I do?”

Yu Leqing said, “Just chat normally, and when the time comes, we can say something about having different values or simply wishing each other well.”

“Okay.”

It could be felt that indeed she had the brilliant thinking of a master’s graduate from a top university.

Fan Wubing started chatting casually with her. Perhaps due to the illness, he felt relaxed and without ulterior motives, appearing calm and intellectual in both tone and manner. He didn’t talk about grand life philosophies or national futures, just chatted as if with an old friend.

This effortless ease without any ulterior motives was something urban dwellers rarely possessed.

Meanwhile, Yu Leqing sensed that this type of ease was different from what she usually encountered or had read about online. It had a magical allure, like a vortex drawing her into this unique atmosphere.

Yu Leqing couldn’t quite assess what kind of person Fan Wubing was. He had a maturity uncharacteristic of his age, yet a purity equally rare. There were moments she felt she was dreaming, with a blurred sense between dream and reality.

She gradually forgot her own plans, lost track of time, concentrating even more intensely than during her most important exams like the college entrance exam and graduate school admission tests.

Until Fan Wubing suddenly broke the topic, glanced at his watch, and then smiled,

“An hour’s up, Miss Yu, we can wrap this up.”
